I personally would not advise their saloon . they are friendly but the lady actually did not know what she was doing , I booked a curling appointment it took her 50 minutes to dry my hair even though my hair is really short then she did I not know how to curl it she had to find another person and that other person did not doa great job she curled it in the wrong direction and it only lasted 3 hours then they charged me 70$ when the originally said it starts at 40$ and maximum 55$ depending on the hair length and again my hair is very very short . read more

I ordered an Izod bath rug from Belk Online at the end of March; it arrived April 4. It does have washing instructions, which I followed - cold water, gentle cycle. It left loose mats that looked like Kleenex got washed with it, where the loops in the rug had come out, and I had to pick the front and back of the rug to remove them, as well as clean out my washer. It happened again today so I called Belk Customer Service (I don't think they are local). Because I had used the rug and because it had been washed, they could only offer me a refund of $15 out of the $27 I paid for it on clearance. Come on; really? Even the Izod company expects you will wash the bath rug, as they kindly provided useless instructions. The mats of fiber left on the rug, front and back, as well as the washer looked as if someone had washed a box of Kleenex. I thought Belk to be a better department store, and Izod to be a maker quality items. How unreasonable to think someone is not going to wash a bath rug before use, and also as needed periodically - but then to refuse a full refund because you washed it and found out that it would disintegrate!? Does this sound reasonable to any sane human being who may be reading this? read more

I am a fan in general of this particular department store, good quality clothes in a clean and inviting area and some of their door busters are genuinely good deals. This particular location does the brand proud and keeps this store in line to the expectations I hold when I walk into a Belk. I would recommend a visit to this store, or to any of their locations. You just might find an item or two that you never knew you needed, or something that makes your soul smile. And we need more smiling souls in this world. read more

Awful awful experience! I usually shop at places like lulu or bylt, however I was recommended to Belk by my mom because they had "great deals"..they were terrible and confusing at best. The signs tell you one thing, then they tell you to scan the app for coupons which tell you "extra % off" nonsense. Long story short, most confusing shopping experience I've ever had in my life. Torn between I love Belk's selections and merchandise and the- if it ain't on sale I won't buy it! Why? Because everything is over-priced. Belk is hands down a store that you should never buy anything full price in. And that is a thing- so if you are a sale, coupon, clearance hunter. If you love the thought of savings even if it was priced too high to begin with- then you will love scouring the 2 full floors of department store heaven here at the mall. I made a purchase in store- an impulse buy- that was on sale and I already knew was a comparable price to online stores. But- I was drooling over some holiday decor that even at 75% off- I couldn't get past the audacity of the sticker shock of full price. I love to shop at Belk. I have found some really, really awesome sales on clothing here. I've bought $75 blouses for $10. The sales they have are crazy! But you have to buy your clothes at the opposite time of the year. I buy my summer clothes when winter is starting (or if you want to call what we have in Florida a winter) and I buy my winter clothes when summer is starting. That's the time to hit Belk to find the sales on clothes. (It also works the same way at Dillards, just FYI). I've also found some crazy sales on shoes here too. I bought a pair of Sperry flip-flops on sale for $8. Yep.. you heard me right... Sperrys for $8! I would have given this Belk 4 stars, but I took one away because the customer service here can really be hit or miss. Sometimes I have excellent customer service. Other times I'm completely ignored. I don't like that. If I'm spending my hard earned money, whether something is on sale or not, then pay attention to me! I'm not asking to cut in front of other customers, but stop gossiping with your co-workers and assist me because I'm pretty sure that's what you're paid to do! Very large store. Clean and organized. And like someone else said, it's always hard for me to walk in here without at least purchasing something. This is why hubby always hates to hear me say, "Let's just go in Belk and look around." Just had a terrible experience that could have been prevented had anyone at Belk cared about their customers. I tried to place an order online last night and it wouldn't go through. I tried repeatedly. Wasn't anything I did wrong and just to be sure my husband tried too. He's a web developer and he couldn't get the site to work either. Customer service hours shut down early and so does chat (!) so I sent an email and called today. First of all, the response to the email showed the email was not understood. They extended the coupon that expired last night, although the link they gave me didn't help so that was useless. But that wasn't the main problem I wanted to address and the fact I couldn't order was ignored. So... I called Belk and talked with Heather. She told me the sales price ($12 vs. $15 per item today) couldn't be honored as I failed to provide a screen shot of the sales price to prove it. #1 - BELK should know their own prices, and #2 - really? I have to prove $3 off to you?? She acted as though I should have KNOWN a screen shot was imperative. I asked for a supervisor. After a few minutes, Heather came back on the line and told me the supervisor agreed with her. Could I talk with the supervisor myself? No. That's when I informed Heather I was taking my and my family's business elsewhere and would be warning everyone I could to stay away from Belk. Got a request to review Heather shortly thereafter and I most definitely DID review Heather's TERRIBLE attitude towards customers. I should have been believed. It should not have been my responsibility to prove Belk's price. And I should have been treated politely and I should have been referred to the supervisor. We've been Belk customers since 2009. Average store. You can shop online and pick up in store....this makes things pretty easy. In my case, I shopped online and had the items delivered to my house since they were unavailable for pick up. Unfortunately, one of the items arrived broken, so it had to be returned. I received it in the mail and in less than an hour later I made my way to the store for a refund. I had a bit of a wait to return the item although the store wasn't busy and there was just one person being attended to in front of me. Things happen...I get it, but no apology for the wait...that's ok too. It was literally the quickest I've ever returned anything and I stated such to the woman assisting me. She made a smart comment that nothing was returned yet and we'd see. Huh? She asked me what was wrong and I pointed out the damage clearly still in the original packaging and just looking through the window in front (it was a household item). She asked me how long I had it...as stated, I received it in the mail about an hour ago. After giving, and continuing to give, me that displeased look like I wasn't being honest she processed the refund. Seriously?...ok. She gave me the refund receipt, but didn't give me my shipping form back. Most companies will give this back to you. After all, I ordered other items and what if I needed to return or exchange something else? Not to mention that my personal information is/was on it. I didn't care for that and it gives me pause on ordering from them in the future. It wasn't exactly the best experience, but it's typical of the experiences in general that I have here and I've been here a lot more than my check-in's dictate. I come back only because they may have that special something I am looking for, need or can't find any place else. But it's certainly not my first choice since my experience always seems to be bizarre. That said and as for the store itself...it is a nicely laid out store with plenty of inventory. There is a little something for everyone from clothes to household items. The prices in general do seem to be a little higher than their counterparts. Whenever I step into a Belk store it's just a different experience...not a good one, nor a bad one...just different and I can't quite put my finger on it. The plus side is, you can find some great sales here. The down side is, the staff doesn't exactly seem eager to help and/or welcoming. It's just an average store at the end of the day. read more

There's a reason why I opened a credit card with this department store. I happen to love everything about this department store and I am not a lover of department stores. I like shops that are individual and specialty in nature and not all inclusive with everything and the kitchen sink available for purchase. There are two people in particular that I enjoy their service and their wonderful humor. Those two are Tony and Pat in men's fragrance. They are always great people who are customer centric and they really do care about their customers whether they're purchasing a fragrance or not they're always front and center ready to greet shake hands give a hug and most of all they're always smiling. Even when they banter with each other I love the way Tony calls Pat "Katherine Hepburn" because of her accent and her mannerisms. These two certainly represent in style with the way that they dress very smartly with a bowtie or a nice silk tie suit, vest or with a simple A-line dress with pearls they are a class act! Upstairs in the men's shoe department, Theresa is someone who can multitask and very knowledgeable in men's shoes. She makes personal conversation she will validate your purchase and she always seems to make you feel as if you're a part of her family. She is very thorough and she leaves enough space for you to walk around in a shoe for comfort asking you if you need another size, etc. Again, as a person who is not a fan of department stores, these three are a great representation for Belk. Please ask for them by name if you're ever patronizing this particular belt store. read more

Review for the Fine Jewelry department. They have a good selection of rings that are greatly discounted (but still very pricey). Be sure to check the website for true pricing with all discounts because the attendants are not well educated on all current promotions. It took me a while to find a ring I liked within my budget, and during checkout the attendant was surprised that it was at a greater discount than she quoted me initially. It made me wonder which other rings I asked about would have actually been in my price range. The attendant also didn't suggest rings to look at once I told her my price range, she just waited on me to point at rings I liked and would say "yes" or "no". I also asked for the ring to be mailed to me once it was sized (all rings are size 7 and it costs a pretty penny to resize). I got a call a few weeks later that it was ready for pickup and I had to remind them I wanted it shipped (I live out of state). They did ship it out the same day once I reminded them, and I do love the ring I chose in the end. read more

MENS DEPARTMENT ~ I had Marilyn and Hania take care of me and the wife. Marilyn knows the mens department layout and Hania the seamtress is very comforting and knows what she is doing to make you feel you are in good hands. I Loved both these women and BELK needs to make sure they take care of them to prevent them from leaving. This department store has not fared well over the years. The quality of the merchandise is lower but prices did not follow. There are discount racks but it appears their inventory is purchased from the same source as T J Maxx or Marshall's. There are fewer salespeople and the store is old. We rarely go to this mall but had some Christmas gifts to exchange. I know, it's March! We had to bounce around a few departments before finding the correct one to help with the exchange since it was costume jewelry. We didn't have a receipt so our expectations were already low. To our surprise it was no hassle at all. We were greeted by Benita, she had a warm smile and was friendly. She told my wife to go shop for whatever she wanted and bring it back. She had to go out on the floor and find a similar item to scan for the price. She rang up the return, applied it to the new sandals, applied a discount and checked us out. The whole process couldn't have gone smoother and we were blown away with the pleasant attitude Benita had. We found the store to be stocked with nice merchandise, staffed by friendly people and plenty of them. Noticeable was the amount of workers buzzing around which doesn't always happen at a lot of large department stores. A pleasant surprise! We'll definitely shop here again when we're in Jville. Located at the corner of Southside and Philipps Highways, it's a short drive from anywhere and nicely maintained mall. Easily accessible from several sides, plenty of safe parking and lots of great stores. read more

Oh Belk, how I missed the! I used to shop at Belk with my mother in NC when I was younger and it always seemed like they had everything. The Belk Department Store at the Avenues Mall does not disappoint. They have the high end make up and perfume counters throughout the middle of the first floor with women's clothing, purses, jewelry and accessories surrounding. If you go upstairs you will find the men's department and the selection is wonderful! The have brands such as, Under Armour, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and so much more! I noticed they run some amazing sales and I managed to snag a sale on the Saddlebread items. They were Buy 1, Get 2 Free! This was an excellent find for finishing up my Christmas shopping! It's also very convenient that they have multiple cashiers located throughout the department. Despite the fact that there were tons of last minute shoppers the staff were working tirelessly to make sure each counter was stocked and every clothing rack was folded and sized accordingly. This is a great place to go for a variety of high quality but possibly less expensive items! read more

I recently purchased Lancome makeup from Belk's at the Avenues Mall. After a severe reaction to the makeup, I returned it to the Lancome counter. The sales person was extremely rude, accused me of not purchasing the makeup at that counter (had receipt) and would not refund one of the items because she didn't have it in stock and it would 'screw up her inventory'. I have never been treated so poorly. Evidently the management at Belk's nor Lancome care enough to return my telephone calls. read more

DO NOT SHOP BELK AT ROOSEVELT BLVD I'm only giving 1 star as I have to pick a star in order to post. I am very disappointed in the customer service I received today at Belk. My one and only reason for going there today was, my shoe broke and I desperately needed shoes prior to my meeting this afternoon. I was in the department for about 20 minutes before my friend went to grab someone to help us. Once my friend grabbed someone to help me the sales lady stated that she just started work and that isn't her department she worked in. . " they just threw me in this department." It seemed as if every pair of shoes I liked only had one size and that was the one on display. If you could have seen the floor it was disgusting. I was afraid to place bare feet on their floor. Close the store if you can't keep the image up, close the store if you can't keep product lines in stock. Close the store if you can't have outgoing people to service the customers Or close the store if you can't get people to help. Case in point!! When I had asked for my size, it seemed as if I was putting the sales associate out . By the end, I selected 2 pair of shoes and asked her to call customer service to get my card number as I don't normally keep my card on me. She was unable to locate it by my phone number, then that is when the sales associate called customer service where they were able to pull my account by the number. they charged my card, once I had realized that the ones she charged to my card were the incorrect shoes. I asked them not to return on my card as I was almost at my limit from spending too much :) at their stores. Courtesy They ended up returning the shoes on my card and telling me my card cannot be charged as it's over the limit. REALLY? I mean really I just told you this. I have several CC's that I could have used, however I wanted my Belk rewards. during this time the sales associate told me over and over again she does not work in that department and that she just got there. Constant excuses and the whole experience was stressful. Needless to say I was late to my meeting, this never happens. I had no choice I needed a pair of shoes. I wasted an hour and 20 minutes of my life that I will never get.. I am strongly thinking of cancelling my card and going elsewhere for my needs. not one apology I failed to mention in this review, my friend that was with me also has a Belk card. She too did not have it on her and asked the sales associate to have customer service look up her account as well. My friend gave her phone number and apparently what the S.A told my friend was they could not locate your account and hung up the phone. that was a HUGE SALE lost!! I told the S. A, that they can look up accounts by spelling of name and SS# just like you did for me. My Friend has been a card holder sense 1980's before it was even BELK. Dedicated and now she too is looking at cancelling her card It seems as if BELK had issues with looking up their customer card numbers by a phone number. Once the sales was finally complete they never gave me the discounts from the coupons. So, I wasted my time and didn't even get the Belk discounts. Hmmm sounds like a great deal to me. I work in customer service, I handle on a monthly basis a quarter of a million dollars in service we provide our customers. I would NEVER treat any of my clients poorly, leave it at the door, whatever may be bothering you. very annoyed read more
