We love the New Year Day sales but not the insane 2 hour lines. This year they featured 50% off women's markdown sales as well as men's to clear the way for spring styles. We went to The Avenues and Town Center in the rain. My husband snagged 17 shirts and a sweater. I found a real leather jacket for $45 and a few tops (my sister gave me a gift card) but didn't need shoes or purses which were being snatched up like bottled water before Irma. This Dillard's is huge. The store is organized. The layout of the store is good so it's easy to maneuver between departments. It's the end of summer and beginning of fall so they have great items on sale and clearance if you have the time to search. They have a good selection of vintage high end handbags and wallets. There is a good sale on middle end brand handbags and wallets. The women's shoe department is a decent size. The customer service was hit or miss here (like at the Dillard's in St. Johns Town Center). It varied from department to department. I can't quite find the words to get started here, so I'll dive right in... First and foremost, I always seem to find "something" at this store. They always seem to carry a wide selection for anyone and I appreciate that. I hate to shop for clothes actually, so they make it easy. I have my last visit (evening of 29 Nov 17) on the brain and I really need to talk about it. My BFF passed away. I didn't have anything to wear to the visitation and funeral. These days people aren't so dressy and seem to be dressy casual...I had nothing...and I was going to cold country! I had just returned from a trip and had a few hours to shop in one evening. I was a mess as you can imagine. My family and I walked into Dillard's, saw the Michael Kors area and headed to it. The sales rep asked me if she could help me find something. I was on the edge of tears, but told her I needed something for a visitation and a funeral...and I'm going to cold country. She asked me if the brand mattered...it didn't...I just needed clothes! She hooked us up with a dressing room to try on a sweater I picked out and then took off. She came back with outfits and I tried them on...perfect! Snap! Sold! But you know what? She never asked me my size...she just knew. And I guess by looking at me she could tell my style too. It was an amazing experience. What I thought was going to be a few hours of nightmare shopping and crying over being empty handed turned out to be one of the best shopping experiences I ever had...ever!...anywhere! I knew what I wanted so I was able to go directly to it. However it's always great when you know what you want and still a sales associate is willing to help. Daniel was that person today. I purchased two credit card magnetic holders and he validated my selections. He also asked if I meant to choose two different colors in case I picked up one erroneously. He also covered whether I was a card holder with Dillard's whether store or store brand visa. I am so he discussed in short some benefit to my using it today. I liked that Daniel informed me that the type of magnetic card holder will not demagnetize my credit cards. He also informed me of the insert with abbreviated letters assures me it guards against thieves using technology to capture sensitive information on my cards when I use the holder in my pocket. Good to know! Daniel was customer service friendly and knowledgeable in his job. I felt comfortable interacting with him. I got a firm closing hand shake, an invitation to return and he thanked me for my purchase. 5 star experience. read more

Dillards is the store where my family has been shopping for generations. Sometimes we forget about Dillards with all the different available stores to shop at these days. Recently my daughter needed a new prom dress. And just on a whim we ended up at Dillards. They had a humongous selection of prom dresses in all the latest styles and colors. The prices were very reasonable. It was a very relaxed shopping experience. Very clean and well organized. Check out was easy. The employees were very friendly and approachable. Their restrooms are very clean. Parking is easy. Very easy to try on several dresses. We are very pleased and will definitely keep Dillard's in mind more often! read more

Frankly, with the atrocious shopping options in Jacksonville, you have to love Dillards for the simple fact that it exists here. The store in the Avenues Mall is smaller than the Town Center, but it still gets the job done. The store is always clean and organized and I the associates are usually very helpful. It can be pricey, but you must check often for sales because when you hit it just right, your wardrobe and wallet will both love you. Last Black Friday there was a ridiculous purse sale that had the area packed with people. I tried to check out in shoes, but the sale wasn't coming up. It could only be applied in purses so I jumped in and waited my turn. Even though the line was very long, the staff were working like a well oiled machine to get people through the line as soon as possible. They were courteous and trying to help as many people as possible. I also want to give a shout out to the Clinique counter. I tend to get better service at Dillards than other department stores and if my purchase is enough, I will get two gift with purchases when other chains may only give you one. Who doesn't love a bonus GWP?! read more

The other night my daughter and I went to The Avenues Mall and did some shopping, I was very tired partly due to my pulmonary disease so I told her I'd wait for her in the car while she finished a bit more shopping and I realized that I'm out of my Dior foundation. I decided to call the cosmetic department in Dillards from the parking lot and asked them if it was possible for me to purchase it over the phone and if they would bring it to my car. Even though this was about 20 to 9 before closing they did ! Claudia from Dior was very gracious to do it but she did get hung up with another customer and her colleague Debbie from Estée Lauder was very gracious to help her and I out and came to my car with my foundation. This was a perfect example of teamwork and customer service on their part. I would have given a 5 star but only gave 4 because Dillard's doors are not handicapped accessible. So someone in a wheelchair by themselves could never shop at Dillard's because they couldn't get in the door, but I am so happy they could help me replenish my makeup! Thanks again read more

This Dillard's has a kicking shoe department. I have to browse the shoes every time, even if I'm there for something else. The ladies clothing department is great. It offers lots of fancy dresses for your upscale occasions as well as casual and business clothing. The sales staff is helpful. A salesperson takes your items and ask your name to start a dressing room. I always feel special and well cared for as I shop. The jewelry and accessory departments have a large variety for lots of different styles and personalities. There are normally plenty of sales associates so you don't have to wait for help. (They do not hover, yay!) Dillard's also offers cosmetics, menswear, housewares/luggage and the list goes on. They usually have a sale going on and good clearance prices on things too. Great department store where I can usually find exactly what I'm looking for. read more

I'm in Jacksonville on vacation and I decided to go to the mall to get a tank top and a few things because it's extra hot here. While upstairs in the women's department I was followed and harassed by a woman named Aferdita....also I asked could I pay for my things downstairs cause my boyfriend was down there shopping....she told me no!!!!! I confronted her and she just played dumb. I've never felt so low in my life. She even asked me what happen to my cloths that I took into the dressing room. I said, ask the security he was there waiting when I came out. THIS STORE PICKS OUT PEOPLE WHO THEY FEEL FITS THE DESCRIPTION!!!!! I'm mixed with tattoos so I guess she felt I was a THIFT. I POLITELY ADDRESSED HER AND PULLED OUT MY PLATINUM AMEX.....but this is bullshit and unfair. I will be calling corporate!!!!! As a regular Dillard's shopper I was EXTREMELY disappointed when I went to the Origin's Cosmetics counter and NO ONE was there to help me. After a few brief moments a nice young lady from a neighboring counter attempted to assist, but she was not trained on the product line and my needs. The store was open. The products were for sale. I had a truly awful experience at this Dillards location. I recently started a new job and decided to go buy some new clothes. I bought about a half dozen shirts and pants. I didn't have time to try on all of at the store. I decided a couple of the shirts were bigger than I wanted so I brought them back to return. It was not easy to find someone to help me or a register that actually had a human being behind it. I found a woman working in the "Ralph Lauren" section. I just simply told her I had some items I needed to return. She simply looks up and me and rudely says "are they men's?". After I said yes, she gave a me a sassy exhale and treated me as nothing but an absolute inconvenience to her. I think it just accepted that most associates at Dillards are, quite frankly, snobby. But this was a new level of awful. I will never shop at this location again. Nor would I recommend anybody else to. read more

Racial Profiling is so obvious at this location. I was in the store this past Saturday around 4pm. I took the escalator to the second floor. As soon as I started to look at a case that displayed cocktail shakers and other various bar items an older gentleman turned and looked directly at me. He did not ask me if I needed help just watched me. Male 50s or 60s possiblity middle eastern or Italian, Hispanic not white not black. He had on tan or beige trousers and wearing glasses. I couldn't take the staring anymore, so I walked to the home section and he promptly turns and follows. Watched me like a hawk while I was trying to shop in peace. As I was looking at the comforter sets he comes closer and ask if I needed help. So I smartly replied, " so you cover two sections now"? He smiled and continued to watch me. I noticed lots of white customers walking around not being bothered. Why oh Why? No more Dillard's for me. Yes I am an African American women. Please Dillard's management don't reply. You obviously train these associates to profile. Why else would they do it? read more

Always good sales things are a bit more expensive than I would like but it's a pretty good place!

This review is based on my two previous visit, let me start by saying not all sales associates are created equal. Some of the sales associates are very helpful in the home and women clothing department. Afrodite is an excellent sales lady at the women department although not sure I spelled her name correctly she was very helpful in helping me pick an outfit a couple weeks ago for an important event. This week I stopped by the home department and also had a positive experience with another sales lady at the home department, she was very helpful in helping me find an item that I had seen online. Unfortunately the item was out of stock and she was more than happy to order it for me...and less than three days later it was delivered to my door :) sadly I don't remember her name but she did have an accent which sounded Nigerian. Thanks to both ladies, walking in to Dillard can be overwhelming if you can't find what you're looking for however it's quite okay to ask the ladies for help. read more
