I never leave Yelp reviews but I had such a great experience with Bella Bridesmaids that I was compelled to write this. My wedding was this past December and I used Bella's Bridesmaids in DC for my bridesmaid dresses. My experience was top notch! I had a hard time finding a day that worked for all my bridesmaids and I was stressed about having to make multiple appointments and not having everyone together at once to make selections. The manager, Christine, worked with me and actually opened the store on a holiday because it was the only day that all my bridesmaids could attend. That kind of customer service is hard to find. On the day of, we had so much fun picking out dresses and they made sure to stay in my price range and color selections. I was happily surprised by the affordability of the dresses! I didnt want my bridesmaids spending more than $200 a dress and we were able to stay well under that limit and there was tons of selection at that price point. Also, I was also a little bit nervous about not getting the dresses in time because I had waited so long to pick out dresses. They made sure the dresses came in ample time and Christine actually would send me pictures and updates letting me know when dresses arrived. All the dresses fit just as we expected they would based off the measurements that Christine took in the store. I would definitely recommend Bellas! P.S. Wonderful experience! Even in Covid times we were able to fully enjoy looking at the many options safely. They make it very easy for bridesmaids from various parts of the country access the dress and order to their specifications. They also offered multiple options if we wanted various designs in the same color or varying shades. We chose a gorgeous navy (French) blue and could not be happier! My review does not apply to you if 1) all of your bridesmaids can try on the actual dress you are ordering for your wedding or 2) you are ordering your dresses a year in advance and consequently there is sufficient time for any exchanges that are necessary. If this is not your situation....this review may be of interest to you. I ordered a bridesmaid dress from Bella Bridesmaid this past February for a wedding in August. Since I live in Atlanta, I went to the Bella Bridesmaid store in Atlanta and they took my measurements for the dress. I then submitted my order form via e-mail to Bella Bridesmaid in D.C. - I started to think this was going to be a very easy process! The dress was a quite beautiful Carol Hannah (the bride, one of my best best friends has incredible taste). I received my dress in July...cue the dramatic music...and it was a full size too small. My measurements had not changed since February, I was sent the correct size, but the dress did not fit at all. Legit would not zip up. I immediately contacted Bella Bridesmaid about the situation and they were very nice about the whole thing. However, as the dresses take 4 months to sew there was no way I could get a new dress. They contacted Carol Hannah several times and there was nothing she could do. So....my only option was to have fabric sent to me and to take the dress to get drastically altered. Bella Bridesmaid was gracious enough to comp the amount for the fabric and shipping (the fabric was $40 a yard and I needed 2 yards for alterations so this was no small amount). I then took the dress to get altered. The alterations bill was way over $100, the dress initially was $285. My dress turned out wearable, but the whole process was not one I would recommend to anyone. There were 4 other bridesmaids in the wedding and a couple of them had to have minor alterations, but I was the only one for a full remake. While the dresses this store sells are beautiful, if your girls cannot try on the exact dress they are buying I would STRONGLY recommend purchasing dresses from a store where that is possible, or if the dresses turn out the wrong size they can be exchanged in a matter of weeks, not months. read more

I usually don't write yelp reviews but I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. I purchased a bridesmaid dress from Bella Bridesmaids and on the day of the wedding the dress did not zip because of a poorly designed zipper. I later learned from the other bridesmaids that they all had to get their zippers replaced. I had to be stitched into my dress the day of the wedding. After the wedding, I informed Bella Bridesmaids and sent pictures of the stitched dress and Lacey practically told me there was nothing they could do about it and implied that I was lying about what happened with my dress. She suggested that I possibly ruined the zipper which is preposterous because why would I ever want that kind of wardrobe malfunction on such an important day. Also, it was a poorly designed zipper if everyone had to get their zippers replaced. SN: The cost of the dress was $260.00. So, in a nutshell, STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION! read more

Unorganized and inattentive. I felt unwelcome as soon as I walked in the door. Some of their sales associates had quite the attitude. All I needed was to view their collection of Dessy dresses, as I needed to purchase one for an upcoming wedding. They essentially pointed me at a rack of miscellaneous dresses and said I could view them until their next appointment arrived. GOOD, but not GREAT. The good -- we entered without an appointment and they nicely were able to do a "mini" appointment, where they showed us dresses and styles. We then scheduled an appointment for a more in depth consultation where they were able to save all the dresses we had looked at prior. All the dresses arrived in decent time. The not so good -- one of my bridesmaids had a personal tragedy, resulting in her losing all of her possessions, including her bridesmaid dress. When I recounted this to them, while appearing sympathetic, they did nothing to remedy getting a replacement dress. I ended up having to pay an extra $100 on top of the cost of the dress, just to ensure the dress arriving on time. Terrible customer service! Not a reputable business & so unprofessional. The color was off on my 7 dresses. I was assured it matched the swatch & I just didn't like the color. On examination, one of the dresses lining was a totally different color then the rest. The top of another dress looked worn & had pulls in the fabric and the third dress had a permanent wrinkle in the lining sewn into the fabric. I placed my order with Bella to ensure all dresses were made new, at the same time & cut from the same die lot so they matched exactly. They never gave a good answer as to why these dresses did not match & looked used. First we were told the only thing they could do was to have the defective dresses fixed by a DC tailor. A $200+ brand new dress should not be fixed, it should be replaced! The other option was buy/exchange other dresses for our dresses (with other bella shops) and potentially receive sample dresses or some new ones. These dresses would be from different die lots & in different styles/sizes then what my bridesmaids purchased and wanted. We were told to put in a complaint on the designer's website. After going back & forth with Bella & waiting to hearing back from Levkoff, they finally gave us an email & phone number for the designer. When we called, the representative said they could not talk to us & the decision was between them & the store owner. They had emailed the store owner (Sheri) & were still waiting on her to respond to them. The rep. made it seem like there was still time (2/18) to get these dresses remade for 5/18 wedding. Once we finally got ahold of Sheri she refused to do anything more then send the defective dresses back to the designer to have them fixed. Sheri said the dresses could not be remade because the store would take the hit financially on the faulty dresses. She would not even consider a discount on the 3 defective dresses. She told my mom she would no longer talk to us about the issues and it was between her and the bridesmaids. We asked the bridesmaids to go into the store to see the dresses before they were shipped back. Upon arrival they told my bridesmaids we said to ship them back and the dresses weren't there even though we specifically told Sheri to wait until the girls came into see them, which she did not relay to her employees. One of her employees also forwarded my private email chain with them out to my bridesmaids. This included all of my bridesmaids dress sizes which can be sensitive for some. Clearly Sheri is only in this business to make a profit & not deliver quality to her customers. With all the other options available I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! read more

PRE APPOINTMENT: I'm the MOH in my best friend's wedding in June 2015. It's a semi-formal event happening in DC, so we wanted to look at nice dresses. As the MOH, I took it upon myself to make us some appointments. I looked at the Bella's website and they aren't usually open on Sundays, but I emailed anyways and it happens that they were taking some appointments and were flexible to get an appointment with. My email was also quickly and professionally responded to and even got a confirmation email with all the details quickly after. DAY OF APPOINTMENT: We had visited another store that wasn't specific to Bridesmaids on 11/9 before we made it into Bella's and it was SO refreshing to walk into Bella's. Parking wasn't an issue - we walked right across the street and then up the stairs into Bella's. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Lacey, who is the store owner. She was excited to see us and spent time getting to know the Bride and what her vision was. There were 4 of us (including the bride) the day of the appointment. After the bride gave her vision, Lacey invited the BM's to start looking through the racks and pointed us to certain designers she thought would work best. All of the BM's have different body types so it was great that we had soooooo many options to try on. Lacey knows the products, she knew every dress that was in the store and she was able to tell us without having to look anything up which dresses we had on and knew if they came in the colors we wanted. We were there for an hour and tried on more dresses between the 3 of us than the store we were in for 90 minutes. As soon as we left, Lacey followed-up with the Bride via email including the designer and style numbers of the dresses that looked best on each BM along with pricing for that particular dress - we may do the same designer, but different styles on each BM. We also have a BM that isn't local, but we tried on some dresses that we think she would look good in as a suggestion from Lacey. Now we can tell the BM to go try on the dress in her local Bella's in NY. It was easy for us then to go back and bookmark those dresses so we can compare styles once we find the dress. It was a no pressure sale either. I as a sales person HATES pushy people and Lacey truly cares about the Bride and the parties that she helps. We haven't made our final decision on the dresses yet, but Lacey did give us a deadline to order to ensure they would be in on time and gave us recommendations for tailors should we need it. My experience with Bella was fine. They have a large selection and were responsive by e-mail. I was a little thrown off by the sales staff - perhaps because I came alone and not with a large group. With the exception of the Joanna August collection, most of the dresses I saw here I also saw at Hitched, which is closer to me and had an environment that made me a little more comfortable. I had a pretty good experience trying on dresses. I came in to try on dresses for two separate weddings and the guy helping me put up with me switching styles and being downright indecisive. My issue comes in when I called before ordering. I lost the sheet that my measurements and recommended sizes were written down on, so I gave the store a call to verify my measurements. The lady on the phone told me my measurements and then told me "I see here you were going to order a size 6... I would definitely not do that. You need a 10, AT LEAST." So what did I do? Second guess myself and order a size 10. I ordered the dress in May and got it this week. The dress is way too big on me. I will now spend who knows how much money on a dress that I already spent $300 on. It's my fault for listening to the lady who answered the phone, but her opinion on my size wasn't needed. Unfortunately, I have to order a second dress from them for a wedding coming up this May. I hate to give them more of my money. read more

My little sisters wedding was in January and I wasn't compelled to write a review until I started planning for my own wedding coming up this year mainly because I don't want anyone to go through what we did. Bigger ladies beware this store and the one in Philly are not for you!!! I made my appointment and sent along a few style numbers as requested. Unfortunately when I arrived there was nothing even close to my size or style to try on. As you can imagine this is embarrassing and also nearly impossible to choose a dress sight unseen, but I went ahead with a style number anyway just by looking at the dress in another size on the rack. I didn't want to be a hassle for my sister. I got measured and was told I needed a size 28 dress (the max offered) and that to be on the safe side I should order extra fabric as well. Now I feel extra whale size but again I don't want to ruin my sisters wedding so I go ahead with the recommended size but not the fabric since I've literally never worn anything in that large of a size in my life. I'm usually a size 20 in jeans and I told them this. When the dress came in surprise it was gigantic and needed a ton of alterations to make it wearable. Not only was this costly but really could never get the dress altered to fit me without cutting the thing totally apart. I wore it but honestly just didn't feel great in it and one of the stitches on the strap even ended up pulling apart towards the end of the reception. I didn't realize until after the wedding that this sizing issue happened to another girl in the bridal party as well but we didn't want to be dramatic and stress out the bride so we never said anything. No one needs to feel ugly in a dress that doesn't fit them correctly. Save yourself some $ and the frustration and hit up a David's bridal where they have a million dresses you can actually try on before you buy them. read more

I visited this shop with three of my bridesmaids seeking their perfect dress for my wedding. I did call ahead and make an appointment, so there were no issues there. I cant remember who my consultant was, but she was very friendly and helpful. We knew somewhat the style we were looking for but didn't have a specific designer in mind, so she helped by pulling what she thought we'd like. There was a parking lot across the street that we parked in, if I remember correctly. It was a little hidden, but we didn't have any issues finding it with GPS. This place is one of the nicer, sort of upscale bridal shops - completely unlike some of the big chains, etc. The only thing that could have made this better is if they'd served us a small glass of champagne or something fun! =) Overall, I'd go back here in a heartbeat if I needed another dress for a similar occasion. read more

I called to set up an appointment and they were incredibly pleasant and helpful. I told them what I was looking for and many dresses were pulled before we even arrived! We were the only people there and felt so at ease while trying on dresses. Our consultant was very attentive to what we liked and didn't like and kept pulling different styles she thought we would like. We never felt pressured to make a decision, which I have found to be rare! She wrote down our favorite styles and emailed them to me shortly after we left along with prices. Second the review below regarding size recommendations being way off. They charged $20 to measure us, recommended a size that was 3 sizes above the woman's usual size (which they didn't carry), so she asked to try on a sample of the designer in that size. She was swimming in it, it wouldn't even stay up. So we were confused, and also worried because everything is custom-order only, no refunds or exchanges, for a $250 dress. The stylist then made us even more nervous by telling us that it is ultimately our decision what size to order, and the boutique can't be responsible for dresses ordered too small. Then, a week later, I got a follow-up email that indicated they had completely mixed me up with another customer, referencing designers and colors I had never heard of. We ultimately decided to write off our $20 measurements as a sunk cost and go somewhere that allows you to try on your actual size. read more

Honestly, I'm really surprised at how many good reviews this location gets. The girl who helped me was EXTREMELY snooty and could barely be bothered to help me. I have never dealt with anyone more condescending. She measured me and I was very unsure about the way she measured because I've never been given that size before. Low and behold, when the dress came in it was a tent on me. The alterations alone were $240!! My boss got a bridesmaid dress from this same location and had the exact same experience. This place may be all peachy to brides (obviously they want the business), but when it comes to the bridesmaids actually having to purchase the dresses it's far from enjoyable. read more

My friend, who is getting married in May, scheduled an appointment at Bella Bridesmaid in February for a fitting. The consultant was very nice, helpful, and courteous. Each of the maids tried on the dress she picked and were measured in the store. The bride was able to pick up all the dresses when they arrived at the store. She said that it was really simple and easy to do! In addition, my dress fit perfectly-- no alterations needed. I returned to Bella Bridesmaid to go shopping for my wedding. There are three bridesmaids in my bridal party, and all three are totally different. I told the consultant my wedding color but the dresses that came in the color did not match our style taste. The consultant asked if we could possibly change the color, which I was open to. She picked out three perfect dresses that everyone liked. She was very patient and gave us just enough attention without hovering. I never felt pressured during the appointment. The owner is not the friendliest. I followed all the "rules." Made an appointment etc ... and yet I felt like the consultant, Lacy didn't want my business. She kept checking her watch like she had somewhere else to be. I chose my dress from the set the bride had picked for her maids, got sized (which doesn't matter because they only have S, M, L) and signed the piece of paper stating that this Bella Bridesmaids is not responsible for ordering my dress just taking my measurements and writing down the style of dress I have chosen. SHE WROTE DOWN THE WRONG DRESS!!!! I didn't even try on the "Tina" and I sure don't want to wear it. Luckily, I checked the picture on the website before ordering the next day. When I called the next day after noting the mistake, no one picked up. I called again the next day ... same thing. There isn't even an answering machine. If I had to guess, since this is a franchise and the original bride's order was made in Charlotte, Lacy makes no money on this sale ... and let me note these are EXPENSIVE pieces of poorly sewn cheap fabric. Please BRIDES, do not make your bridesmaids go to this store or buy these dresses! read more

We were rushed through the appointment and there were errors in the order confirmation emails. Sales person was not helpful and did not show us anything except what the bride had requested ahead of time. I bought a bridesmaid dress here with an $80 up-mark (compared to another department store) because I was told I could have length added to the hem of the dress. I am tall, and the dress could use an extra few inches. I ordered the dress in March, and in late June I get a call telling me this is no longer an option. I have signed a contract stating the dress is nonrefundable, but the only reason I bought here was for the extra length that I was told I could do. My consolation? They will take off the charge for the extra hem length. The length that does not exist. 1 star for not checking if they could follow through with a promise before making it. read more

I came to Bella Bridesmaids not having much of a clue what I wanted my bridesmaids to wear. I had some "I don't likes" but very little direction to provide the consultants. In our first visit, the brought a ton of different options for my sister to try on, and they were very flexible in taking our feedback and rethinking the direction for the dresses. They provided great guidance based on our feedback, and ultimately led us to the Joanna August collection. In our subsequent visit I brought all of the bridesmaids, and the consultants were very patient as we tried on a number of different styles within the collection. They helped us to identify three styles that worked well with all of the body types within my bridal party, and everyone left happy with the dress that she chose. My mom also had her eye on a MOB dress that she was interested in trying on, and they chased it down to ensure that she was able to see it in person. From the customer service standpoint, Sheri and her team were extremely responsive over email, and very patient with my and my bridal party. We had a number of girls change dresses, sizes, etc, and they were extremely communicative to make sure that the final order was perfect and exactly what we needed. As a bride, there are a thousand moving pieces and details to iron out. My experience at Bella Bridesmaids was one that was smooth, painless, and easy. I would absolutely recommend this as a one-stop-shop for bridesmaids dresses. This is one worry-free step in the process! read more

In our experience with Bella we met nothing but resistance throughout the entire process. The Dress was available at other retailers for less and the other retailers offered free shipping; however for convenience sake of all of the bridesmaids being able to access a Bella store for sizing, alterations and ordering it was decided to use Bella. When the Bride initiated her account with Bella the sales associate told her that they would "work with her"; however when push came to shove the Bella sales associates did not make good on their word. The Bride then attempted to go back to other retailers to get the dress from them but the promotions/ pricing she initially planned to take advantage of had run their course and we were left with no other options. The dress was available at a lower price at Nordstroms who also offers free shipping, when the Bride shared this with Bella they said they would be competitive and work with her on the account but they did nothing and everyone ended up paying more for the dress, paid 25$ in shipping and some were charged other hidden fees i.e., when the sales associates took down the wrong card number then turned around and charged a girl a "late fee" of $25 because the card obviously didn't run. No accountability, no customer service, basically they know you have to have the dress and they treat you as such. All in all, a poor experience. Would not recommend. read more

I don't normally write reviews but felt that it was necessary in this instance because I was very disappointed in the experience I had when I visited Bella Bridesmaids. I went to get fitted for a bridesmaid dress and get my measurements on Thursday evening at 6pm. The lady and the gentleman working there were not warm or welcoming at all. They made me feel like it was inconvenient to them that I was there. Meanwhile I already picked the exact styles that I wanted to try on prior to coming to the store. They didn't smile one time, were extremely uptight and were rushing me the entire appointment when I was the only client in the store. I didn't even feel like I could finish trying on the five styles I liked without getting rushed out of the dresses. Also, the guy kept saying I didn't have to decide on the style now, which was very inconsiderate thing because I did need to decide and wanted to make sure I was choosing a style that I felt most comfortable in. My friend was with me during the appointment and was also very thrown back with how we were treated. After my poor experience I then had to pay $30 just to get my measurements and get fitted. I would hope this is used as an opportunity to better coach your employees on appropriate customer service. Coming from someone working in the customer service industry, I would not want employees working for me that treated customers this way. read more

This review is specifically for the DC location, although most of it applies to my experience with Bella as a whole. I was a little skeptical at first, having not heard of Bella in my wedding research. I had chosen some very popular Donna Morgan dresses and planned to go through Nordstrom for the convenience of my 4 bridesmaids, who live in 4 different cities all around the county. When we learned that Nordstrom rarely had these style in stock for my girls to try on, we found Bella. I'm going to list the ways in which they have been wonderful: 1. Rapid-fire on email responses and probably just as good on the phone, but I prefer email. 2. Lacey is AMAZING as are the other members of the staff I have used. She really saved me life through a number of crises (read on). 3. My maids in DC, Philly, and LA had no problem with their courtesy fittings and said the whole process was super easy. 4. We did have a problem with the NYC location: My bridesmaid is *not* plus-sized, but the woman who did her courtesy fitting insisted she was. Donna Morgan doesn't make plus sizes anymore--had I known this, I would have chosen another designer. But at this point, my 3 other maids had ordered. I was in a panic (and humiliated for putting my 'maid through this). This is where DC really came to my rescue. Not only did Lacey help me order a dress AND extra fabric for my bridesmaid; she also tracked down a plus-sized dress in our color in Donna Morgan's warehouse and let me order that too (not returnable, but money was no object for me with this issue). Turns out she DID fit in the normal sized gown and the NYC girl was wrong. So yes, I did order another dress unnecessarily, but was SO grateful that Bella gave me that option as well as the extra fabric. 5. All dresses arrived INCREDIBLY fast, within 2 weeks of ordering. This may have to do with the designer/inventory specifically, but it was such a pleasant surprise. 6. My DC maid was supposed to pick up her dress in-store, but ended up having a death in the family and couldn't make it for weeks. Bella happily arranged to have it shipped to her. 7. My LA maid had a snag in her dress, and they arranged for a quick and easy exchange, no problem. Second dress was great. 8. Finally, the online order system is great for peace of mind and tracking orders. In conclusion, would DEFINITELY recommend Bella ESPECIALLY the New York location and Lacey. The wedding isn't until May, so it's possible they'll come to my rescue again, but at least I can say that right now all of my maids have dresses that fit. Make sure you vet your location and talk to the staff, they end up saving you from many emergencies! A lot can go wrong when wrangling multiple maids, and I only had 4! We had an incredibly successful appointment at Bella Bridesmaids! We were given lots of beautiful options to choose from. The only thing that topped the result was the service that got us there! We worked with the manager of the store and another employee. Both were polished and professional and had a comprehensive understanding of the many many dress options at the store! I called and left a message for an appointment. They called me back about two weeks later. I got the dresses for a nice small business in Georgetown that was very accommodating. That shop does tuxes, too! I left a bad review on wedding wire and they disputed it that same day. If they can dispute a negative review the same day. Why can't they return a potential client's call the same day. They need to get their priorities straight. Oh well, If it wasn't for Bella Bridals tardiness, I never would have found that shop, so they deserve two stars! read more
