Jeff, the owner is a wonderful host. Very simple and yet classy. He's so accomodating. His corgi, Tank made quite an impression too! Love this ranch!

Jeff and his wife have created A+ wine and a visit to their ranch is a sure fire way to a good weekend. The setting is gorgeous and the bonus is the beautiful horses on the ranch. The only way to get a tasting is to be a member or go on a Stagecoach Wine Tour. We were lucky enough to go with some friends who were members and Jeff really showed us a great time. Jeff recently started producing Chardonnay grape based Vodka as well that is so smooth. We ended purchasing a bottle of that as well as his signature wine -- Colt's First Ride.

Such a beautiful setting. Yummy wine, horses, friends. Perfect way to spend an afternoon

This place is pure heaven for someone who wants a personal experience and great wine. This place is fully family owned and it shows. Though not formally open to the public, you can call ahead of time and ask to get a wine tasting and tour. You get to meet the owner, his wife and father, all of whom love what they do. Besides wine, they are all horse-lovers and have a number of horses on the vineyard. They house them and do physical therapy on injured horses. They were the only place that gave us true hospitality. In addition to bringing you into their home (they live right next to the barn tasting room), they bring out grapes, apples, crackers, and delicious cheeses. We got to taste 4 wines... 2 whites and 2 reds. They were all superb but I especially liked the pinot grigio. I don't usually like whites so that says something. I love this place.. and hope more people are able to experience the warmth and greatness of this vineyard.

Ask the Community - Bella Cavalli Farms & Vineyard

Do you have to make reservations in advance and do you allow dogs? Looking to visit but with two kids and a dog we don't know if we can book in advance.

We are by reservation, but we are no longer doing tastings at the ranch. We are in the process of moving them to our distillery Dorwood in Buellton. we hope to be open there the first week or so of November.

Hello, I wonder if it possible to take a ride on one of your horses and what the price would it be for this? My horse riding experience ends with learning how to gallop (but I only ride with this style like 2 times)

Natalia, I would enjoy to but unfortunately all our horses are privately owned and we do not offer…

We didn't know what to expect but she is so kind and took time to show us around the ranch and explain how the incoming wild mustangs and other horses are "gentled" into a loving and trusting relationship with their handlers. After meeting several horses on the property it was clear how effective their methods are. Each horse was so at peace and comfortable with us. The atmosphere on the ranch is serene and inviting and makes a horse lover want to linger. It truly is a wonderful place and all credit goes to Monty and Pat and their amazing lives and perseverance. They've built something beautiful and are so kind to share it with the world.

The bus ride was about an hour from Santa Barbara which was a beautiful ride. When you pull into the facility you're pulling right into wash the barns and the horses and the round pens. Basically what you would consider a large but typical kind of horse farm. This farm is owned by Monty Roberts who has been training horses for a long long time. What he does is train unbroke horses to be able to have a rider get on within a very short amount of time by using techniques that make the horse trust what you're doing. Today we were there the owner of a horse was there at the facility videotaping the process. Within 22 minutes he had one of his writers on that horse without a single buck. The owner of the horse was nearly in tears. This visit wasn't about him training a horse, it was about life in general and how getting people to perform at their highest level without forcing anything out of them. This really was a life lesson not a horse lesson. After this was over he allowed us up to his house where they had cooked an unbelievable lunch for us and set in his backyard overlooking the entire valley and his ranch. The entire experience was unbelievable and something I will never forget and I would encourage anyone to see what it's like.

I have temp-boarded my horse there twice now (needed trail access which this facility does not have) and both times they have been SO kind and welcoming. Staff are attentive, extremely horse-savvy, longtime farm employees with high work ethic. Fencing in paddocks could use some work but is safe. Unfortunately all that I could see lack any sort of sun/weather shelter. Box stall buildings look to be safe & comfortable although older (we looked at but did not try this option). Paddocks for turnout is exquisite and regular irrigation makes for happy horse grazing even in hot dry summers. My one caveat is that access/egress to Pollyrich from Mission Rd/Highway 246 (only route in/out) can be extremely difficult at busy times, when hauling in particular. Traffic is often very heavy, speeders abound, and folks "forget" to yield to (clearly marked) horse rigs. Drive with caution!

We are sending them to a forensic accountant to find out if we were over charged. Our board steadily increased over 20 months. The dates were always wrong and the balance forward always the same no matter what we paid!( No one we have sent them to can understand them !!!) Invoices were only sent every 2 months. And every time they charged our cc there was a late fee! (seriously) they had cc's on file ?? We always paid our bills when an invoice was sent ! Probably late a few times as we are trainers, but always paid them ! Our payment history was sporadic, but they were always paid when an invoice was recieved! When went to pick up our horse which is costly for us, as they are far away, they would not release the horse even after our balance was paid in full ! At this time we are probably going to have to involve the police. Our next step is to call the local police as legally they are not allowed to hold our horse hostage! All avoidable! We recommend 3 horses to them previously and now they will loose all that business ! Looking back at our terribly busy lives, we left the horse there far to long ! The whole thing is mind blowing & deeply disturbing! Lastly we have recieved no credit for our first and last deposit ! And they are claiming we did not give them notice. I have the e mail to prove it ! Think very carfullly before sending a horse to them !

He went straight to High Sky Farm afterwards for follow-up care, and ended up staying for his rehab for almost 6 months. Moira Gill is the owner, "chief executive" and rehab coordinator for this facility that specializes in the care and rehab of horses in need. I live in the Bay Area and initially thought I would move him closer to me for his initial rehab, but after getting to know Moira and her methods, I thought it best to keep him with her. A bit benefit was having him close to the surgeon, Dr. Judy, from Alamo who could stop in regularly for check-ups and/or treatments. The facility is well equipped, clean and very quiet. It is a bit of horse paradise...no hustle and bustle, large turnouts, a eurociser, an aquatred, and, most importantly, Moira!! She has great people working for her, too, who have been with her for much of her 25+ years at High Sky. I felt completely confident that my horse was getting the very best care and oversight. They are super conscientious about following "doctor's orders" in terms of wound care, medicating, supplements and exercise. She is excellent at communicating and even sent regular weekly videos of my horse once he was doing his trot and canter work. (I was also very happy with the rider who did the under saddle work.) Moira has good farriers and body workers who she has known and worked with over the years and is incredibly timely in her scheduling. Nothing slips through the cracks! In addition, the cost was reasonable for this expert care. My horse came back to me at the beginning of October healthy and happy, a good weight, feet and coat in good condition, and ready to continue moving forward. Thank you, Moira and staff.

What bothered me most was he said "AXE STOP BEING A JERK" which made me really upset and uncomfortable. I don't like it when people wok with animals and call them derogatory names.
