Was one of five companies I contacted about a new roof and communication was very poor.

I have given Bella a week to get back to me at their earliest convenience so I'm taking it public. I was told the project would be 6-8 weeks out, which was fine. Eight weeks passed with no update, so I reached out myself. I called around 11 AM and didn't hear back until 2 PM the next day. Since the salesman originally had the wrong phone number and even the invoice has the wrong number, by the next day I was already wondering if you even had the right information to reach me or if I needed to call again. I was told Jason would reach out later that day. The next morning at 8 AM he texts saying they can get the siding done that day, but he didn't even know the chimney removal was part of the project. He didn't seem to know what the job actually included. We agreed they'd start the Monday after Halloween, no problem. Friday, the morning of Halloween and Saturday, materials showed up in my driveway and a dumpster showed up in the street with zero heads-up. No text, no call, nothing. Monday, Jason says they're delayed and might be there in the afternoon or the next morning. I said no worries. Later that day I got notice about Jury Duty for Tuesday, so I let him know I wouldn't be home. My wife stayed home just in case. No response. Tuesday, still no communication from anyone. Wednesday, I message asking what's going on. He replies saying they'll be there in half an hour. It was longer than that, and by this point, yes, I was frustrated. Jason shows up. I tell him the communication has been terrible. It gets brushed off like "well I'm here now." I bring up the chimney again. I already explained multiple times over text and in person that my insert sits under it. They took the chimney down to a point but threw brick and mortar into the top, which now caves in on the top of the insert. If I open the flue, debris will fall inside. He says they won't go below grade because they'd need an excavator. None of this was explained beforehand. Thursday, I was told they'd finish that day. I get home from work--no contact, no one at the house, materials still there. I had no clue if the job was done, if someone left early, or if they were coming back. Friday and Saturday, random people show up grabbing materials. Dumpster gets picked up. Again, zero communication. Two weeks later, I get an invoice. No walkthrough. No "hey, the job is done." No one even asked if the work was acceptable. Meanwhile I had to clean up debris left in my yard and my neighbor's yard. And the fireplace insert is now blocked with rubble. And then recently, I reached out four days ago saying I wasn't happy. I got one email after the first message, and then nothing since. It's like every single opportunity you had to do something simple -- give a heads-up, make a call, explain what's happening, check in, confirm the work, anything -- it just didn't happen. Warning others that if these folks install your roof and you need service, you will have trouble getting it. In mid-June, we moved into a home in Pittsburgh that had a new roof by Bella. It's been leaking since we moved in, and we've had to set up several buckets in our house every time it rains. Over the last 2 weeks, we've called them 3 times to try to arrange service, being told that we'd receive a call back from the service manager. After 10 days the service manager finally called us back, but still hasn't arranged a time for someone to come out and look, only saying that they could come "soon." A vague promise of soon doesn't help us when we have severe leaking, buckets and a tarp in our house right outside our child's bedroom, and the leak is getting worse. read more

Bella Construction installed the wrong sized gutters after installing a new metal roof. 285 feet of wrong size gutters causing a flood inside my home (ruining carpeting, papers on desk, surveys, blinds, and causing mold on walls) plus ruining the fascia that was already good under my original gutters. It took one call to another contractor after the damage to find out that if you put a metal roof on top of an existing roof that the gutters must be one inch larger. You would think they would know that. They will change the gutters if I pay approximately $8000 or $9000 more. No mention about the ruined fascia and other damages. Now I see several complaints like mine on the site. D NOT USE THIS SCAMMING COMPANY. I COULD GO ON but you get the picture. Why would the Better Business Bureau still give them a good rating after their having many complaints like mine? read more

Bella Construction and Roofing just finished replacing my entire roof today, 9/26/24. It was quite a large project. Paul Zurrica was my Bella representative. From job review to roofing suggestions, to estimate, to providing samples, to the project start to finish...even clean up, Paul was there, VERY responsive, and did exactly what he said he would do. Super knowledgeable, dependable, and fair. The crew who did the work were extremely hard-working, courteous, and respectful of our property. The results exceeded my expectations. Sales rep Paul Zurrica did a thorough job in the fair quote pricing for whole house vinyl siding replacement. Dwayne project manager was very nice and thorough with job site management. All workers very focused and hard workers to do the job. Clean up on site done daily was superb. Only WARNING is to completely check job site prior to final payment made as 2 of my 3 exterior electrical outlets were not properly mounted to the studs, third outlet was completely blocked by broken outlet piece. John was sent out to fix the outlet problems and did a great job. Overall project would have gotten 5 stars but the outlet issue caused it to be 4 stars as not happy finding this on my own inspection as they should have inspected it before departure and sending invoice to pay balance due. Bella construction was my worst nightmare I called them in June of 2023 to do my roofing project the man came out to my residence we were texting a little bit about my roofing project I gave him a check with the full amount to get my too project done I told him I'm gonna to be going out of town and I won't be back for a few wee And to text me before you start my project so I know I would be there he said no problem next thing I kno he had his crew come over to without me being aware to do my project I didn't even kno he started the project until I came back home to court papers for bad check and theft of services which I didn't kno what that was all about cause I still had the his payment in my account I called to settle for the mistake of accident giving him a cancelled check which was a honest mistake cause I found my old check book and mixed my new check book up with the old one and gave him the wrong check they had me on hold then I was told not to contact them until court was settled I wh I went to court I ended up just givin him a cashier check and all the charges were dropped this company almost ruined my life everything I worked hard for all over a misunderstanding I will never use this company again there Communication is fucked up they are wicked I'm not no criminal and that's what they made me out to be but over all I must say they did a amazing job on my roof but if you don't have good communication skill being a company then you will Continue to fill your customers, so I give you a one star and warn people they can have you in some mess over there mistakes read more

Had them come beginning of September to quote us on a roof for our new patio. It's a decent size job...not too big, not too small, 950sqft. The guy was very nice and said he needed someone else to come and he'd have him call in the next day or 2. He made a big deal about how quickly they get quotes out and once we had it, he could get us on the schedule. We'll...it's now October 14th, over a month has gone by, no call or visit from the 2nd guy and no quote. A phone call or even a text to say you are not interested would be nice, not to mention professional. I decided to give them a try because they are very local. If I can't count on you to send me a quote, I certainly wouldn't count on you to do any work. What a disappointment. Think twice before using them. read more

I handed these guys over 4K back in APRIL. I was told my job would be done by the end of the month. I was SPECIFICALLY told that i would not have to deal with a scheduling hassel like i did with another crew on another project. It's June now and they have NOT showed up. I called them a couple weeks ago and it sounded like they hadn't even put me on the schedule. Last week, i was told thursday. No show but at least he called and said FRIDAY. no show NO CALL! it's been another week. ANOTHER WEEK of NO SHOW NO CALL! I don't know about their quality of work, but so far, i'm highly DISGUSTED especially since i was PROMISED this exact situation would not occur. read more

I had gotten several estimates for what I had wanted, if I were 20 years younger I would have done this myself. They were not the lowest bid by far but I had everything in writing and I was going to hold them to what they promised. I wanted my 120 year old box gutters removed and new flashing and new seamless gutters replaced throughout the house and porches. They did come out on time and were professional. but everything they did was sub'd out to other companies. One company came out to remove the gutters, one company to install gutters, and I think Bella sent their own guys out the next 5 times they had to come out and fix what was done incorrectly. A total of "8" truck rolls to my house. I finally got wore down to the point I just wanted them gone. Well after a winter with lots of snow and wind, I just had everything replaced by another contracting company. I had water damage, gutters came off at the slightest of weight. The gutters had to be replaced and the flashing wasn't put up any better. I have put out 10,000.00 for a 4,000.00 job! My experience tells me that I would never hire this company to take out my garbage, But I already did for them, the scrap guys loved me for the gutters and downspouts I gave them. Horrible company to work with. They were very active in responding to communications when they were selling the job (primarily as storm-chasers) and then once the job was sold their customer service dropped into the bucket. Horrible experience with both Matt (the owner) and Ed (the representative). They stopped returning phone calls or emails when it came time to any questions about the work done, scheduling, etc. They are quick to ask for payment though. First of all... last year I had bad luck when their non English speaking workers were bending chimney flashing outward to install... I sent text photos to the owner who at first did not believe me..... to later come to the site and re do that and a couple other roof issues he did not like. That being said... we were too late to stop my mom in law from signing a contract for a new roof started 7/2017. Bella employees were like the ambulance chasers going door to door to scam insurance companies and "help" residents with so- called hail damage. With written instructions on how to get your homeowners insurance to pay..... they are too busy to do a good job. We have had nothing but issues at her house. From damages to landscaping, and poorly done flashing. Redone flashing was even done poorly like putting a band-ade on the first rows of flashing. Damage to wood shakes....aluminum fascia not correctly fitting... and not covering ends where there is bare wood, and more. Called the Bella owner who said he would stop over and said he would call first so we could point to problems..... NEVER HAPPENED! Matt Bell is the owner who later sent us a TEXT after making his secret trip to look at the workmanship. Beware of this company. They were really taking advantage of a 90 year old woman who is technically blind. While he admitted a flashing problem, we have no idea if he saw the other issues. With her eye problems, she have not read the contract...... the workers lied when they claimed she was pointing out things that needed fixed. She could not see the roof, or even what color it was. Bad business practices from a............. TO BUSY TO CARE BUSINESS ! Weeks of workers in and out, when this job should have been done in 2 to 2 and a half days. I had a wonderful experience with Bella Construction from scheduling an appointment with the sales rep Ben to having my siding, fascia, gutters installed and finished on my home. They were very professional, always o. Time and prompt. The installation crew cleaned up after themselves every day on my 3 week long project. The owner came to check on the progress and talked to me to make sure we were satisfied. I would never call or hire this company for roofing. The job was done within two days but I'd rather it be done right than quickly. They had left nails all over the outside of the building and a pile of garbage. While the pile of garbage was picked up the day after the completed the job, the nails were not. I have one in my tire and all over the yard/road. When I called to ask them to do the right thing by sending someone out to clean up, they agreed. No one showed. Very unprofessional. Don't waste your time or money. If their price seems low, remember...you get what you pay for. read more

We sent a down payment for a project and they delayed work three separate times. A project that was supposed to start in May got pushed back until "sometime this winter" and we asked for our money back. Somehow we were the ones being "rude" in asking for our money back after spending thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it. I'd avoid Bella at all costs if possible. read more

Justin Lowense took care of everything from meeting with the adjustor, negotiating a fair settlement and making sure his crew showed up promptly and followed up to make sure they did the job right. They were done in one day and less than a week from when the process started. They left the place clean and picked up. I'm very pleased and will definitely use again. read more

Met this company at the home show in February. Wanted downspout and gutter work done. Mike bid the job and we hired them. It took three separate visits to complete the work to standard. Today the job was completed and I called Matt the owner to compliment the two gentlemen that finally did the work correctly. I told him I wished they would have done the job initially instead of the crew he sent and that I wished I could hire these gentlemen independently. Matt told me that was rude and hung up on me. I have had issues with my gutters since the installation in August 2016. My repeated calls have been met with "When we are in the area we will look at the problem". I can not get Bella to come to my house and fix their poor installation. My gutters leak behind and down the fascia. The drip guard is installed incorrectly. The gutters actually slant away from the downspouts. I have used a level to confirm this. The problem is now damaging my landscaping. I have video evidence during rain storms as well as photos documenting the damage to my landscaping. Home owner beware, if you have any issues, they will ignore you. I have been in contact with the Better Business Bureau and they have managed to get Bella out to my house once. The employee did level the gutters correctly but did not fix the leaking problem between the gutter and fascia. His solution was to caulk between the gutter and the fascia. I stated that I was unhappy with his temporary fix and he told me he did not have the materials to fix it properly. I asked for someone to be sent out with the correct materials but no one ever came. Bella told the BBB that I was satisfied with the repairs. I am clearly not satisfied and I am still awaiting my gutters to be repaired correctly.
