Made a reservation here per a recommendation. Showed up for reservation and they attempted to sit us next to a a man who couldn't not sing or play the guitar to save his life. That was tough - he was not good - it was loud - and when you can't even get courtesy claps - you're just a nuisance. Ordered the caprese pesto flatbread to start. This was OK - but it came out cold. Absolutely struggled to get a refill to the point where I had to flag down a different waitress to get us one. As an entree I ordered the crab pasta special, and we shared an order of truffle fries to share. After waiting another 25 minutes the waitress upon getting us a refill exclaimed "oh your pasta is back here sitting" Would you know it - it was cold. We tried to save things with cake which we got to get up and walk in front of everyone and pick out in the fridge. Man. Would you know it ? It was old and hard. The first winery in historic Bedford. I went to listen to Chet and Michael, and I was blown away with this music performed in this perfect room and the acoustic sounds of the "PennSOULvanians". If you're lucky enough to get a seat order the Bella Burger, it was so freaking delicious. The fontina cheese, garlic aioli, and homemade pickles made this burger absolutely delicious. My friend had the California Chipotle Chicken flatbread and said it was that good. Unfortunately, I have a sulfite allergy and cannot drink wine however my friend said the Riesling was good and paired well with the flatbread. They offer beer on tap from Olde Bedford Brewery, "Not your average Joe" 4% ABV. This Kolsch style beer was crisp and refreshing. Erica our server was full of energy and had a knack for reading people and knew exactly what we should order. Just go and you will be impressed. Good times. read more

We decided to sit in the back room at a 'high top', I probably wouldn't choose this table again only because it's right next to a private employee bathroom. The server was very nice, brought our beverages quickly. I chose the Lemberger wine, which I've had before & never disappoints. I chose the turkey melt with truffle fries & it was delicious. The avocado was so fresh, the turkey was pulled apart and tender, the bacon was a perfect combination, I decided although to remove the giant leaf from the sandwich. Bedford was very sleepy on a Sunday, but I was excited to see Briar Valley Vineyard & Winery tasting room open. It's a rather large with bar in the middle where the tastings take place, a lounge area, tables, and storefront. We paid $5 for a tasting of eight wines. I never tried PA wines before and there were a few names that were new to me. As we made our way through the whites then the reds, the gentleman guiding or tasting gave us a little insight into the vineyard and answered all of our questions. I prefer red over whites and there were a couple that I really liked. I would've grabbed a bottle or two if I was in the mood to check a bag. but for this time around, a taste was enough! We were in and out rather quickly but it was definitely worth the stop if you have some time to spare in Bedford. read more

We visited Bella Terra in Bedford with a group of friends and had a 2 hour reservation for an igloo, which was ready upon our arrival. There are 3 igloos staggered in the alley next to the restaurant/bar. Inside each igloo was a table that could seat eight and a small electric fireplace for warmth and ambiance which was nice because it got a bit chilly on the night we visited. Everyone ordered something different (short ribs, steak, flat breads, salads) and we shared the pretzel and truffle fries as appetizers. Everything was delicious and nobody left hungry. The waitress were fantastic too. Great personalities and added to our overall experience. We are planning another visit soon. read more

My friend and I love exploring wineries. Today's trip took us to Bedford, PA where we found this quaint restaurant with a wine tasting bar. Lorrie was our hostess. She was so much fun and made our time at the tasting relaxed, entertaining and enjoyable. Passing through the area and happen upon this little wine tasting and food establishment. My husband got the Bella burger and it was the best burger we have had in a long time. We tried to go here for Mother's Day. We were greeted by a server but asked for a few minutes to look over the menu. The server never came back. Another server came over after 15-20 mins. He took our food and drink order. Drinks came back in a timely manner. Food never came. We sat waiting for 1 hour and 30 mins. The original server seemed to ignore us and made it obvious to wait on everyone but us. We asked if there was something wrong with the order and were told they were out of eggs... if that was the truth someone could have told us that instead of us waiting for almost 2 hours. This really ruined the day for my girlfriend and her family. It was a long drive back to Pittsburgh. We were so happy to have wasted the time driving out for the service we got. read more

I made sure to document as we were going... we've had an igloo rented for several weeks now from 3:45-5:45. We showed up at 3:40 and were told to seat ourselves in an empty igloo. It took 15 minutes for a server to even come into our igloo and acknowledge us. 6 cups were provided on the table for a party of 8. After 20 minutes had passed, I started taking pictures to document with timestamps. We sat at 3:45. We got water after about 20 minutes. We didn't get our ordered beverages until 4:34 (per time stamp). I can't speak on when our appetizers arrived as I forgot to snap a picture, but I'd estimate about 10 minutes after our drinks, so a full hour after we had been seated. Main courses arrived at 5:14 (again, per time stamped photo) which left just 31 minutes until the end of our reservation. When the main courses arrived, the waitress hadn't cleared any appetizer plates from the already small table, so we had to pre-bus our own table to make room for the entrees. Again, with 31 minutes to spare until the end of our reservation. We were promptly told told leave our table at 6. Of the table of 8, 5 of us have worked for YEARS as waitresses/waiters before. We know the struggles and we are aware that people can be unreasonable and downright rude. Sometimes things are completely out of your control as a server. To their defense, they had a large party in the main dining room that apparently didn't book ahead of time. But at some point, it's just plain bad service. Our reservation has been in place for weeks and absolutely no accommodations (extra time, offer us a table inside after our time was up in the igloo, an offer to rebook on another date, or even level with us and advise us to sit inside because they knew their service would be abysmally slow) were offered considering they knew they'd be overwhelmed. We were clearly unhappy and told our waitress (a gal with long dark hair in braids and a crocheted headband) multiple times, so it's not like we kept this a secret just to write a bad review when we left without giving them an opportunity to correct the experience. We were never offered any kind of comp, not even a refund on the $50 for the igloo reservation. To their credit, the food was amazing. The cocktails/wine/beer were also great. No complaints in that area. But absolutely abysmal service. I'm not sure if we will be back. We go out of our way to support local, small businesses, but this might be the exception. This was a great place to walk into while exploring Bedford. The staff were great and really knew their wines and the details and specifications behind the specific wines. The wines we sampled were all very good and they had some neat wine accessories available for sale. We ended up buying one bottle of wine to take with us. You drive into this little Bedford town. The winery and tasting is located on east Pitt street, in their downtown area. Open 12-5 7 days a week. The store front is cute and simple. When you walk in, it's brightly lit. The walls are decorated in mostly scenic photographed decor and scenic paintings, all of which are for sale. They have a couple tables at the front of the store, a little electric fire place with comfy wicker seating, and high tops along the sides. The center of the store has a small square bar for the tastings. The tastings are $5 for all 8 wines, and $2.50 for either the Reds or the whites. All the wines are very tasty! And all the wines are produced by Briar Valley vineyard. I personally enjoyed the uniqueness of the "combo" wines they had of one of the Reds and of the rosé. The first Friday of every month, they provide live music. You can bring your own food and enjoy a glass of wine with the live entertainment. The prices of the tasting was not bad at all. The Prices of the bottles were a little expensive, but for the quality, it's worth it in my wine obsessed opinion! Definitely recommend a stop by when around this area for sure! read more

This is a very cute little winery wine shop with very friendly and knowledgeable employees located in the pretty historic downtown of Bedford. We actually stopped here during a getaway last weekend after realizing we could not buy alcohol in PA on Sunday. This was such a pleasant solution to that, as we were able to do a quick wine tasting and left with 2 delicious bottles of wine. All the samples that we tried were tasty and we thought were pretty good. A wine tasting of all (7) of their wines was only $5 and we had nice conversation during the sampling. This is one of the best Wineries you will probably find in the entire state of Pennsylvania. They have a wonderful Rose as well as a great Gewurztraminer! Having many of the finger lakes wines as well as southern California, and Virginia this wine is just as good if not better than those who are highly acclaimed.
