My husband and I took a day trip to Cumberland and decided to stop at Charis Winery & Distillery. We did a tasting of 4 wines and they were all fantastic! It was a cute location and friendly staff! Would definitely recommend!!!

Fantastic service, the wine is all amazing. They do have a Groupon which is a great deal and if you check in on Yelp, they give you 10% off any purchase coupon. Definitely ask for Seduction, which is not listed on their menu, it's mine and my husbands favorite wine they make. Their patio is perfect for sipping on a beautiful spring or summer day. Walk across the way to European desserts for a meal to compliment the wine and you have the perfect day!

Very nice little place right by the bike path the owner who makes the wines gave me the tastes and he did an excellent job of explaining them and they were all actually very good for what they were

Delicious wine with super friendly staff. We really enjoyed the dry red cab franc. A great stop before or after the train ride.

Great place for drinks in Cumberland. We had a peach/vanilla vodka slushy. We recommend this place for sure!

Service was great, the pourer was knowledgeable and friendly and they frequently came outside to check on us and asked if we needed anything. Every wine was good, some better than others but all were good. They offered what they call a build your own basket but the prices were a little steep to build a basket. Instead, our party of 5 bought a block of cheddar and manchego cheeses, a tray of salami and a container of crackers to go with our flights. Between the 5 of us we tried all of their wines and ended up buying a few to take home. It should be noted that they do buy their grapes from another winery and do not grow their own. The music they played was nice, 1940s and not too loud so our group was able to stay and visit while we ate and drank on a rainy afternoon. Parking is abundant. Well worth the visit.

This review is for the Latrobe location…read more While visiting our aunt in Latrobe, we had dinner at Carmine's Pizza & Pasta and noticed some interesting bottles behind the bar. We were curious and asked the staff about them. She told us they were from Rusty Musket Distilling. She also mentioned that the distillery was located on the same street so we quickly checked the map. We found out they're only open on Fridays and Saturdays and luckily for us, it was Saturday and they were still open when we finished dinner. So we decided to stop by afterward. It's a small place with a bar counter and a couple of tables. We mainly wanted to do a tasting and pick up a bottle as a birthday gift for our aunt. We tried the moonshine and two different whiskies. I'm not usually a whisky drinker but the maple one was sweet and surprisingly enjoyable. In the end, we bought the Mountain Rita which is their margarita-flavored moonshine. It really does taste like a margarita and is dangerously good. It doesn't taste strong at all, even though it's 40% alcohol! Our aunt has lived in Latrobe for more than 30 years but had never heard of this distillery. I have a feeling she's going to love the Mountain Rita and start telling everyone about it!

He was kind of an asshole about it honestly. I looked on their site before we went AND after this incident to make sure I didn't miss anything and absolutely no mention of no dogs allowed and we had been there multiple times throughout a couple year span where we had our dog with us no problem. google it now.. still says yes we are a very pet friendly operation! I'm not saying to boycott this place but just be aware that you can't take your dog after they advertised it being dog friendly with their "rusty Dogs" Remy Hank and Haven roaming the property.

They offered both tastings and flights, but my friend and I both chose a glass of Rosé. The staff member had described it as crisp and dry, but it was still a bit too sweet for my preference - not terrible though. We sat on the rocking chairs outside and admired the nice view of green fields. I think they were setting up for a private event in the meantime, because people kept showing up with their own trays of food, and a whole bunch of children and dogs. Overall, we liked the ambiance here but the wine wasn't especially memorable and service was lukewarm.

This place is serene and extremely peaceful and I could probably just sit outside and take everything in for hours. There are a few boardgames to play as well. There aren't a lot of seating inside, but during the daytime, the place was very laid back and not overcrowded. There are no marked parking spaces, but people typically park on the grass and there is ample space for so many cars. The interior of the main building was very simple and "bare bones" but had a homely charm to it and the lovely woman who served our flights was such a gentle, warm person who complemented the peacefulness of the place! My friend and I ended up buying our own bottles of wine and my fiance absolutely loved the Barren Ridge's Touriga wine that I got for him! Will definitely be back to bring him the next time around! Just a great place to take a step back and enjoy some wine!

Steve is the father that started making wine as a hobby in 1984, fast forward to 2017 it became a reality, opened in 2020 and the pandemic happened. But now the winery is opened 5 days per week for wine tasting and carry out. The daughter Roberta runs it and said they're turning the side deck into a location you can enjoy doing wine flights, having a glass of wine etc; Roberta has the right southern charm to run the business. She did a wonderful job telling us about the different wines, what was available for tasting. Everything is Italian theme. Even the sweet wines. She said at first her dad only made dry wines. She told him if you want to sell the wine, you must make sweet wine. She said he doesn't when in the barrel due to a bad experience with oxidation. She said he uses staves to oak in steel, which is easier than having to worry about topping off constantly like myself :) she said he typically ages the wine for 4 years. Such patience. She said they are adding new wines every 2 months. That's spectacular to be able to do that. Overall, enjoyed the winery. Everything we had was wonderful. One good thing is that we got a card that every so many wines you purchase, you can obtain a free one after so long. We will be back. Cool vibe. Roberta does an amazing job.
