First, I called and placed my order for 2 pizza's, we bought a large cheese and a sicilian cheese and we waited about 10 minutes before leaving my house as I live 4 miles away. I show up and my order hasn't even been started yet, mind you the restaurant is completely empty, I give them the benefit of doubt and they just need some more time, when I here the pizza maker say, when did he call, where's the order? So I go sit in my car to wait since my entire 5 person family came as this was supposed to be a fast trip. So we wait, I walk back it to see the first pizza get put in the box and then 5 minutes later I see my sicilian get put in a box. I watch for another 5 minutes as my food sits on the back counter just sitting there waiting for someone to care to call me over so I can leave. I am now about an hour in from when I placed my order originally. So I finally get my order and head home. We open the the box to find cold and burnt sicilian pizza crust, hard as a rock the dogs couldn't even eat through it. The Large regular cheese was not burnt, but was sub par at best, I would have rather ate at Xbos! We will not ever go back and we do pizza once a week. read more

I do not know her name, but the short brown haired girl (daughter of the owner) dropped a CRACK PIPE when she served me my food! It broke right in front of my feet and I asked her "what is that?" She replied stuttering "I, I, I, I... I am sorry, it was a glass pen". Lady, I am NOT dumb, my mother was a crack addict and I know exactly what they look like. My friend and I were really hungry because, well we had the munchies, but we decided to stop here and get some banging Italian. Well granted it was like 98 degrees outside but it was warm inside. This intense heat had me parched as AF, so I ordered a lemonade. I was cold but definitely some generic type lemonade. But it took them about 20 mins for them get our drink orders and then another 10 mins to take our food order. But all in all by the time we walked in and walked out it was like an hour. Great, great place. I go in probably once a week, and I have NEVER had anything I didn't absolutely love. The buffalo chicken pizza is incredible. A slice bigger than your head for less than 4 bucks, add a pint of beer (which they serve) and you have a great meal for under 10 dollars. My family and I eat out often and enjoy our family outings, but tonight we went to this place and was disappointed, and disrespected. We walked in and was not greeted by any of the two women standing there looking at us, another gentleman walked in after us and the old lady went right to him completely ignoring my family and i. She told the other girl standing there to take our order since she knew what the other guy wanted, and the girl looked at us and walked away. To me that was very rude and I told my husband and kids were leaving. Sorry I will not give these people a dime of our money. If you can't cater to every customer then you need to re think your life and business, as far as I'm concerned I will be happy to never step foot here since the vibe I got from them was terrible. Awesome pizza. However the older lady who works there, I believe she is one of the owners, can be rude. I go there many times when she's not there but on New Years Eve she was complaining about how busy it was with all of these people who never come the rest of the year. I was born and raised in Smyrna and have been coming here since I was a kid. Bella Villa has outstanding cheesesteaks, pizzas, and strombolis -- always served up hot, fresh, and delicious! The same family has owned and run the place for many, many years. It's warm and inviting with a small town feel. I desperately miss them when I'm in Santa Fe where I now live most of the year. Gone down hill! I've been buying pizza's from Bella for the past 10 years or so. It used to be pretty good and every pizza left you wanting to dig in for the next slice. Then they started changing stuff around behind the scenes around 2005 I'd say and the food took a dive. Instead of a real pizza maker they let the Kitchen help start making the pies. Ever since pizza there has been hit or miss. Mostly more misses than hits. The Pizza lacks the passion it once had and just taste and looks like your average parlor style pizza. Sometimes it's cooked perfectly and sometimes looks like it should have stayed in the oven longer. Sometimes it's round and sometimes it's shaped like a "D". Sometimes the pizza has crusts and sometimes It has well... I dunno an attempt at making crusts. Sometimes you order extra cheese and you get it. Sometimes you order extra cheese and you get an Average obviously not extra cheese pizza (guess who ever made it forgot it). That's also part of the thing since about 2005. The pizza's now seem to have a lot less added to them. An extra cheese pizza looks like how their original pizza's used to come. Now if you order a regular pizza you get something that looks like they forgot to add cheese too. The slices are very thin and flavorless leaving much to be desired. So if you do order make sure it's you get extra cheese on whatever you get and make sure they actually put it on there. Now my other favorite part about this place. The Staff! in the early 2000's the staff was mostly family and the service was friendly. Now it's a mix of both. I honestly don't know who works there anymore as they own other restaurants that the family manages. So you may have 1 or 2 family members working and normal staff and the food will be Good because someones there to actually make sure it comes out as it should and then you may have a bunch of Staff running shop and the food will come out mediocre. Service is also so-so because of that. I honestly don't know whose on the phones now or at the counter but I can tell by how my order comes out. They recently did add delivery which is good since I got tired of walking in and out the shop opening and closing those heavy glass doors and standing in line like a doofus. Now you can order directly to your home! Yippe! Cold Pizza with a hour and fifteen long minute long wait for everyone!!! Sheesh! By the time you get your pizza you forgot that you even ordered one to begin with. Then when you do get it the box is lop sided and warped and the pizza is COLD! Now I only live down the street from this place. Yeah I could go get it myself but why? Delivery is to pizza as toothpaste is to toothbrush. They go hand in hand and it's apparent they need more drivers! Instead of sending random worker out with 50 deliveries so by the time they get to MR. 50 the order is COLD as ice!. Then to add to that the pizza is still hit or miss. So overall Bella Villa is pretty much hit or miss when it comes to the food and service. The best times to order are on Fridays and Saturdays. The only way to guarantee a good pizza is to place your order in the store and wait for it OH and make sure you look at the Pizza Maker guy and acknowledge him. Give him a head nod or a wink or something. You'll get a good pie than because you're right there. Now I still order from them but mainly because all the other pizza places are commercial. You have your choice of over priced, super greasy, and tasteless Pat's Pizzeria across the street or you can go to Dominoes across the lot. Dominoes is decent if you want a cheap fill you up pizza but Bella Villa is more homely with better ingredients still. There is also Nino's pizza that a little further down 13 but I would compare them between Ellio's Pizza and DiGorno in the frozen food isle. The negative reviews turned me off but I decided to give it a try anyway being that its been open for a long time. The pizza dough is hand tossed, as I walked in, placed my order and waited for my order at the counter, I noticed this big mound of dough on their back table. As I was talking about it with my son, the older lady, whom I presume is the owner, was nice enough to go in the back and cut off a piece of the dough and hand it to my son. My son loved it. It kept him busy the entire time we waited for our order and I had a nice conversation with a young lady at the counter. Country plays much of the time and there is a tv. No matter whether you are there to eat alone or with the whole family, I do think this is a treat others as you'd like to be treated place. My experience was great, the burger my son had, delicious. The pizza and Stromboli... just so delightful. We've tried almost every pizza place in central Delaware and you can't beat this. Even though I live in Dover, I will more than likely go out of my way to come here. read more
