As a photographer, my job was made even easier thanks to Applewood Farm's organization, forethought, & not to mention the beauty of the grounds. If you haven't seen this place - you are missing out! I will absolutely recommend Applewood Farm to all of my future clients.

I went to Applewood Farm for the wedding of a close friend this last May. I was one of her 4 bridesmaids, and I happen to use a wheelchair. I tend to be good at getting myself around places, but this place had gravel everywhere, and gravel is impossible for wheelchair wheels. It didn't matter, though, because the owner went above and beyond to make things as easy as possible for me. She got out one of the golf carts they use to get people from the parking lot to the ceremony area, and took me around absolutely everywhere I had to go. For the pictures, I decided I'd stand in them, since I can stand for a few minutes at least, and my current chair isn't very pretty. The owner was right behind the photographer the whole time with my chair or a golf cart, ready to swoop in as soon as my muscles started to give out. This gesture of kindness was so heartfelt, I was so impressed with her help. I believe her name was Susan, maybe? Not only was the staff incredible, the place is absolutely gorgeous. From the bride/ groom dressing cabins to the barn for the reception, to the ceremony area and everywhere in between, this place is beautiful. My friends pictures looked like something out of a fairytale. I'd recommend this place to anybody. It's a perfect place to host the best party you'll ever go to.

I…read morewould not recommend it due to the demanding wedding planner, and there wasn't a way around her. As the mom of the bride, I was constantly being pulled to tend to something, including cleaning up before the guests left. I was told that was necessary so that we wouldn't be there past midnight and incur extra charges (the wedding officially ended at 10 pm). We were gone well before midnight. Because of this woman, I wasn't allowed to celebrate with my family and enjoy the event. I wasn't in any pictures (other than the wedding party pics), because I was working most of the time. I definitely encourage people to avoid Red Gates in Odenville.

She is obsessively controlling to the point that she would not let me get my daughter, who has gastrointestinal problem's bag to take her to the bathroom because "it was time to announce the wedding party so we should just wait". She physically stood between me and my belongings and would not allow me to go further into the room. My daughter had an accident on herself after that because of that mean woman. The venue is beautiful, but they have swamp coolers which do NOTHING for the hot weather. Do not believe that you will be cool in the Alabama heat. The only way to cool off is to go into the bathrooms or be lucky enough to be in the bridal party, unless Terri has her list and strict timeline out, at which point you will be heeded to whatever place she thinks you should be (and she'll do it very rudely). She was rude to me when I asked her if we needed to put the extra bridesmaids bouquets anywhere. She rudely stated to get out of the barn because it was against the insurance policy. Then told me ask the florist (rudely). Maybe she was hot? Maybe she's been doing this so long that she's lost the ability to help the family feel like they're appreciated and loved during an event which is all about starting a new life? I really don't know. I know at least 20 people in our wedding party who at one point or another were treated poorly. Another note, I was not drinking alcohol because I was a designated driver for my husband and because we have kids. It seemed like she was mad the entire time because we had alcohol at the event. If they don't *really* approve of having alcohol, they should probably just not offer it as an option, so people wanting to responsibly partake can find another venue. She was judgmental and rude about that too (shocking I know). Anyway, I'm told the owner was very friendly. I didn't get to meet him. It is a beautiful place. They get one star off for how absolutely sweltering it was in the barn (no AC. Swamp coolers barely blow. Fans not very strong.) Two more stars off for how utterly rude the manager Terri was to our entire party.
