No frills, budget friendly, very clean, centrally located, family run motel by Bear Lake. My wife and I stayed for two nights. The Inn is a great home base for visiting nearby Traverse city as well as Empire to enjoy the beautiful Sleeping Bear Dunes. The Inn itself is situated in a small town of only 500 people, friendly folks everywhere. There is a breakfast spot within walking distance called Lakeside Cafe. The Inn is owned and operated by a veteran and his wife, we arrived after 9pm on a Fri and the wife greeted us with a smile and gave us some info about local attractions. The room had two queen beds which were very comfortable. The room was spacious, very clean (in fact one of the cleanest hotels or motels I have stayed in), flat screen TV with numerous channels, reliable wifi, there is also a pool which can be used during the summer. The only cons are the Inn is located on highway 31, which although not a busy highway, you can hear cars during the day and night. Our room was the 2nd closest to the street but not all the rooms are the same distance to the road. For a little over $80 per night including the 11% tax from the state and city, this spot is very reasonable and comfortable. read more

A nice roadside motel! It is definitely dated but its exceptional maintenance makes up for it. Plush towels, comfy-ish beds, fridge in the room, and a pool! The grounds are clean and well maintained too! The "continental breakfast" is quite basic and might satisfy some but I just grabbed some fresh brewed coffee and did a full breakfast elsewhere. read more

We have stayed here several times and have always been very comfortable. This is a mom/pop style motel, not a chain. The decor is dated, the bathrooms look like original to the 70's, but they are better maintained and cleaner than most newer hotels. Price is fair. The rooms are meticulously clean. The beds are comfortable and they actually have REAL pillows, not the paper thin ones we have seen at other hotels. Soft towels, soap/shampoo. There is a mini fridge and a microwave in the room. Cable and wifi were good. This is a short drive from Onekema and Empire, Sleeping Bear Dunes, etc., and is conveniently located on HWY131 across from Bear Lake. Pool is very nice. We will happily stay there again! read more

We stumbled onto this place late on a Saturday afternoon, and did we ever do good! Very clean, which is hard to find in many of these older properties. Truly a blast from the past which I enjoyed sharing with my 11 year old grandson. I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Owners were very accommodating, nice people with names I can pronounce. Bella Vista Inn... what can I say about this hotel? It's a very nice hotel with a good breakfast in the morning. Nice people up in the counter and a pool there as well to swim in from 9 in the morning to 9 at night. One flaw in the hotel if they would want young adults, or young kids to come is the Wireless Internet deal. The router is in the main office, and the hotel is like a little strip type thing with the office in the middle and rooms from side to side. If you want great Wireless Internet then try and get a hotel room closer to the office, or else you will have to suffer bad Wi-Fi connection from your room. Other than the Wi-Fi thing, it's a great hotel and I would come back again! read more

We needed a place to stay after spending an amazing, busy, crowded day in Traverse City, MI. The owner and front desk women was super pleasant and kind. Our hotel was very clean, comfortable and well kept. This was a perfect, no fuss place to sleep and stay. They served a small continental breakfast which was perfect for us and our girls. If you're looking for fancy- this isn't for you- but for clean, quiet and comfy- check it out! We would stay again! read more

The Bella Vista is a great little strip motel. It has very clean, albeit small rooms. The first morning, I went to the lobby for the continental breakfast. The coffee was great. They had an assortment of fruit, bagels, and sweet breakfast baked goods. There was also orange juice. I sat and visited with the owner while I was drinking my coffee. He recommended several local places to visit. When my friends arrived the second day, they immediately made friends with the owner and we almost felt like he was our friend by the time we left three days later. The motel also has a very nice outdoor pool. Definitely worth the price! The only thing I didn't like was the plug-in air freshener. It was extremely overpowering in such a small room. I had to unplug, double wrap in plastic and place in drawer. read more

Parents: Take your business down to Alpine Motor Lodge. It received great reviews and is not too far south of this location (HWY 31 and 8 Mile Rd). The owner of this establishment refused to accommodate a little boy because he has a service dog due to a life threatening disability. I wish it were just a misunderstanding. I wish it was because the owner wasn't aware of the law. But the fact is, the owner was shown the law and all of the appropriate paperwork and still refused the boy accommodation. This is nothing but a good old fashioned case of discrimination against a disabled child. He broke the law, but he also put a damper on a family's vacation, just because their boy is different. Imagine if this were your boy and take your money elsewhere. read more

I had a reservation here for a golf outing.... the guy I talked to that made the reservation sounded like he didn't know what he was doing (turns out he is the owner....yikes) That should have been my 1st clue. Unfortunately, I lost my job due to a merger 4 days before the trip and had to cancel... Now I understand that they have a one week cancellation, but when I sd "I am sorry, but I just got let go and cannot afford to come", he HUNG UP on me !! I called back to discuss 3 times and he simply hung up each time. Wow, is all I can say...the last time he started screaming at me that I obviously couldn't afford to come up and hung up after I told him I would be posting something on Facebook. let me put it this way, this place is not for everyone. when I called I asked the gentleman on the phone if the area was safe, he paused for a moment and said "it's Bear Lake" ok.cool. when we arrived and I went to the front desk I was told that I was smaller than I sounded on the phone.. for real. Never was told that before. Anyways, the place is as advertised, clean, family owned and operated. Clean, tidy, well kept. pool and a grill and a nice place to sit outside. Wifi service is not great in the room, but reception outside is fine. We enjoyed our stay there and will be back in the future! read more

This place is not for everyone if you are looking for all the creature comforts of hotel. But very clean and spacious rooms. If you are looking for place for a night or in our case we stayed prior to playing Arcadia Bluffs golf course, which was only 13 miles to the course. If you need place to stay for few days also will work. Great rates, and the owner was checking use in with dry sense of humor. If you big person the bathrooms will be small for you. read more
