The process was super lengthy, but Tamara was great to talk to and she explained what she was doing every step of the way. She did her best to remove the stubborn pink and made it so that my hair will now grow out in a more natural way. I also got a super fun cut and some awesome products. My hair is an odd texture, wavy, and tangles easily, and it's not as easy to cut properly as it might seem at first glance. This cut was worth the investment! The salon is not pretentious: it's a real salon with magazines, beverage mini-machine, hair products for sale. Jessica took time to explain my hair's quirks as features and not defects, how best to style and take care of the hair. Pricing is 30% less than what I had been led to believe would be moderate, and even when she raises her rates they would still be bargains. It's easier to grow out my hair gradually and keep the ends in shape with Jessica's expertise. I've revisited, and hope to be a regular client of Jessica's (please stay in the area!).

Normally people just give me curtains even when I ask for some layers or structure. I have two requests: able to put in a ponytail, and no blow drying needed. My shampoo and condition was incredible, with a little massage for good measure. Felt decadent! Then, she took her time with the cut. It felt like pounds of hair came off. When she was done, it framed my face perfectly and looked amazing not just in the front - but had some structure and build in the back - which I loved! This was a first. Easy quick and nice haircut…read more I just moved here, and was looking for a place where they can cut my poofy Asian hair. Gave this place a shot. Pretty happy! Walked in, and the lady put me in a chair and asked how I'd like my hair cut. I told her the same just shorter. She said ok and went to work. She didn't ask what type of men's haircut I wanted (online it has 3 different levels at different prices). I'm assuming the default is the $25 "premium" cut, which online still says $24. You don't get a hairwash at first. She sprays you w/a misting spray. The shampoo comes after your haircut is finished followed by a really quick "scalp massage" (don't expect anything great. Just a quick simple 5-10 second lather with some oil or something). I asked her to cut one part of my hair a little more at the end since it was sticking out. She knew exactly what I meant. And she happily touched it up. At the end, pretty happy w/the results. Haircut looks great. I wish I knew her name so I could say thanks. Likely coming back!

I also really prefer to go to people who care about eco friendly, non toxic product and all that sort of thing. There may be lots of them out there, but I have had an impossible time finding them by searching online. I finally decided I HAD to get a haircut (it had been nearing a year since my last one. I KNOW, I KNOW!) and maybe do something new with my color. I knew of Melissa & Natural Reflections through our yoga community - I've heard nothing but rave reviews so I made an appointment with her. I was BEYOND pleasantly surprised to find that she uses awesome products that I can feel good about. The hair color she used was like nothing I've ever had on my hair (and I have a very long history with hair color!) - usually my hair goes completely flat and limp for a few weeks after being colored. I had none of that after she colored it AND it didn't knock me over with the chemical color smell. She also got me hooked on the Loma hair care products she uses - not only non toxic, but LOCAL to where we live! I'm generally pretty neglectful of my hair, but the amazing job she did inspired me to start taking a little better care of my lovely new locks. I've been using the Loma nourishing oil religiously - my hair has never been in better condition. (AND IT SMELLS SO GOOD.) Weeks and weeks later, I continue to get compliments on the color. Lastly, Melissa is AMAZING at what she does. I've always gone to bigger hair salons - there's a HUGE, positive difference in the experience of going to someone who is doing their own thing. I have so much respect for what she's created for herself, it was a joy spending time with her in that space and letting her work her magic. The space she works in at Mosaic is awesome, I dig the personal vibe and really like not being on display in the middle of a room or in front of windows while I sit looking NOT my best during the process!!
