I have been coming to Sunshine Hair for almost 10 years and Thuy is incredible. She is incredibly accomodating and very reasonable with her prices. A few times I have called her asking if she can squeeze me in last minute for a hair cut and she's been able to get me in and out in under 30 minutes. I have recommended her to other friends in the area and they have always been super happy with their haircuts. One of my friends is super particular about everything he buys and get super nervous about haircuts and even he was happy! Terrible haircut and very rude and condescending behaviour from the lady. We went for one woman and one man basic haircut, she screwed both. She does not know how to do a basic haircut. This was my first time getting my cut and color from Thuy. When I called her in the morning to see if she had any openings for a cut and color today, she asked me questions first, like what kind of coloring- full, partial, or highlights and how long my hair was. I appreciated her thoroughness of determining if she had the time to fit me in that day. So, with the info I told her, she said she had time in the later afternoon. I got there for my appointment and she really paid close attention to what I wanted done and even gave me suggestions, which again, I appreciated. I give her props for running her business the way she does. She really pays attention to her clients. I've been to some places where the person would be working on multiple people at once. Whereas Thuy makes sure she focuses on her current client. I also appreciate how she makes notes on her clients needs, that way, when they come back, she knows what they had done previously if they want the same thing done. I've never seen anyone do that before. She is the type of person who wants to build a strong relationship with her clients and have them return. Which I greatly appreciate her for. I got my hair cut here for the first time today...I called after I got off work and was able to get in at 5 which was great because I am leaving for Texas in two days so the quick appointment time is appreciated. I found Thuy on Yelp as I was searching for a stylist that could color my hair during COVID last year. I made an appointment at Sunshine Hair but, I decided "after a challenge" from a friend to just grow my hair GRAY instead of going there to color it again. I've been coloring my hair since my 20's and in my 40's now, I literally have to color 3-4 weeks and man, it gets expensive. My hair has been through enough chemicals so I figured, not going anywhere much during COVID, what the heck...I took on the "gray hair" challenge. I recently moved from California as well so, was looking for a stylist I can be loyal too, like my stylist back home. So, I walked into Thuy's salon and basically told her to shave my head. It's been almost a year since my gray hair transition and yesterday I went to Thuy again so she can trim my hair with some style. I'm happy with Thuy's work and she is an amazing woman in general. Very friendly, professional and personable. I admire her story of being an immigrant at 19 years old and pursuing her business & passion. She really makes you feel great. I just moved to the area and had a job interview come up unexpectedly. Because I live in a busy area I figured that it would be hard to find somewhere to get my haircut well in such a short time span. Thankfully I was wrong; I called in and the phone was answered immediately and I was able to make an appointment same day. The salon was easy to fine with accessible parking and when I went in I found it to be clean and was greeted immediately at the door. Thuy was very friendly and fast and gave me a great haircut; I was having a lot cut off so I was worried that the quality might suffer but she did an amazing job. Got my haircut here and I showed them a photo of how I'd like my haircut and she just grabbed a fist full of hair and cut it and said "Done" I told her that it didn't look like the photo I presented to her and she tried to defend herself by saying that it did. So after asking to fix it up she tried to layer each side and it went shorter and shorter as she tried to even it out to the point it went from 5 inches past shoulder length to 3 inches above shoulder length. I was at the point where I just told her to stop since I was crying already. I was so distressed I didn't even bother arguing to not get charged so I paid and left and cried in the parking lot until I could go home . read more

Sunshine Hair is operated by a single hairdresser by the name of Thuy. This business has been open for two years. Thuy is an incredibly friendly person. I couldn't help but enjoy the conversation with her. I can imagine Sunshine Hair being my new regular place. However, a men's haircut is $18. That's steep. Although Thuy did a pretty good job overall to my hairstyle, it was definitely not worth $18. I'd say more like $13.50. Yes, she does have about 16 years of experience, and conversations are awesome, but the level of detail didn't measure up to the price, especially since the line done to my hair was crooked but tolerable. If you have specific preferences for your hair, I'd go elsewhere. But if you have pretty simple haircut, this place gets the job done. read more

My experience here was AWFUL. I can't believe people gave this place five stars. For one, she was extremely condescending the entire time she spoke to me. Every time I have instructions, she gave me a look like I was stupid and said "You don't know hair. I know hair." Two, she cut both my hair and my bf's hair HORRIBLY. The styles were so ugly we had to go elsewhere to get them fixed. Three, she obviously can't dye hair well. I've been getting my hair cut with Thuy for more than 15 years. She does an amazing job every time and is super helpful and friendly. I've had a few hair styles over the years from longer to short to even some coloring back in the day when it was still en Vogue. No matter what the look sunshine hair would be my recommendation for where to get it done. There are a ton of salons and barber shops out there, but as long as Sunshine hair has the open sign on and Thuy is manning the chair I won't go anywhere else. Come in. See. I bet you'll love it. I walked in and showed her the photo of my want-to-be, she talked to me and analyzed my hair color, texture and potential outcomes. Feeling this lady knows what she is doing, so I decided to give her a try of faith.I made appointment for next day and came in, she explained to me again and started to work on my hair. It took much shorter than what I expected and when I felt unsure and concerned( my hairs were in the process of dying and they were wet and hiding underneath the the dying pad). She listened to my concerns patiently and went through the knowledge of dying reaction for me so I felt comfortable. I am glad I trusted her because my hair looked amazing. It is her super skill, patience and knowledge makes her a great hairstylist. And the price is really reasonable. I am a picky person but I highly recommend people visit her salon. Thuy is so nice, very friendly, her son is usually in the salon with her but he is so cute and loves to play with my 3 year old. Makes it easy for me and my son to go get haircuts. We usually call in advance just to make sure she has time - she's very fast but does an excellent job. She recently raised her prices, but it is still very reasonable. Quality is the same as going to some high end salon, at a fraction of the cost. We will continue going here as long as her doors are open! read more
