The cleaning lady did not clean our home and still charged us. The complained about our miniature labradoodle, who is the sweetest smallest thing. Very unprofessional will be going with another company. They also said out dog was a problem last week when we are home. She was sitting in my arms the whole time. Not a dog friendly company. This a bold face lie. We have said we would put her in a separate room on multiple occasion. Once she sat on my lap the entire cleaning. You said you could clean with us not home knowing or work hours. I care about safety too and you did not even ask to put her somewhere else or that you had a problem till last time. You did not even try to reschedule. You are lying to save face. You are not pet friendly. Be honest! They also lie when they responded. The said she growl at them two times. I was with her the last time. So again not dog friendly or willing to work with you. Never even ask us to put her in another room. Dog was never an issue before now either had multiple cleans. I hired Belle Home to do a major clean on my place and they did an excellent job. The cleaner was punctual, and let me know via text when she would arrive and about the progress of the cleaning. The interior of my fridge is spotless - like brand new! I also appreciate that although everything is really clean, there was no harsh smell of chemicals from any product that she used. Cleaners did a great job. The problem I have with this company is the quote they give you turns out to be double the amount. The way they do this is by saying it's $39 an hour without saying it's $39 an hour for each cleaner! Unless this company gets honest about their dishonesty, I'd look for an honest cleaning company. Update: Decided to call again for a monthly charge. Said it would be $97. Guess what the invoice said? $194. Bought my mother a cleaning for her house and she was not happy with the service that was provided. Many areas were missed even after providing direction of what was important. When I reached out to the company with this feedback they said there was nothing they could do as I did not follow up the following day. This was a gift for my mother and was disappointing that the service was not what we expected and even more disappointing that when we called and provided this feedback we were told someone would get back to us and we're simply sent an email saying nothing could be done. I just moved in to my house and Belle's cleaning was the first to answer who was able to clean my house the next day. I gave them a description of the entire house and stated it was pretty dirty and I wanted a deep cleaning (ovens, appliances, curtains etc). They stated it was no problem and they gave me a VERY GOOD quote (roughly $285) for the house. They proceed to clean the house and along the way they told me it was even more dirty then they had expected, although I explained how dirty it was. They said they needed to get two more cleaners (totaling 4) so they could finish the entire house. I stated that was fine. Well with four cleaners, I thought I would see a sparkle everywhere. My fiance came home and found still two slightly dirty tubs, a completely dirty oven - they said they forgot to clean that, dirty blinds that I then had to re-clean although they stated they needed to charge me extra for, some cabinets still dirty as well. It took my Fiance ANOTHER HOUR to finish cleaning the house. I call and speak with the person in charge, and she stated she would have people come out and clean it for free, although I paid for it. I asked her if I would be refunded, and she stated she no. The worst part though, the quote they gave me more than doubled due to "How dirty it was". Look, I didn't mind spending $550) on cleaning a house, but they lacked the talent necessary to charge the price. Look elsewhere for a cleaning. If I was able to show you photos of a full garbage can of wipes, an extremely dirty oven, an extremely dirty outside of the dishwasher (they said all they can do is clean the inside), etc I would gladly do it. read more

Still thrilled after several more years with the staff at Belle Home. I have one particular gentleman who has been coming for several months now and he is phenomenal. He's polite, funny and always accommodating, but most of all professional and a very hard worker. There are so many good people at Belle Home. They really try to accommodate all your requests, within the time they are given, and do a great job each time. Don't waste your money. If you're tempted to even try them out (as I was) think twice. I purchased a home that was unfortunately in need of some major TLC before we could move in. I was expecting a top to bottom clean before our move in day. A team of two spent 5.5 hours and still missed the basics! I was pleased that a decision was made to send out a second team to correct some of the issues; but even after they left I'm still finding areas of my home that simply weren't touched. In the end, the owner, Karen, showed poor customer service by sending me an email to apologize for not cleaning the blinds. Horrible. They tell you over the phone they will clean for 8 hours. What they mean is two people will do a quick run through the house for 4 hours. 2 cleaners x 4 hours = 8 hours of cleaning in their eyes. They are deceitful and the other reviews show this is a constant problem. Paid for extra services that were never attempted. Floors were left dirty and stained but I didn't even complain about that. This was ultimately one of the worst experiences I've had with a cleaning service. We operate as a business and the Belle staff refused to clean the office after hours. As a result, our office was forced to interrupt our daily operations each time that they come to clean. Each staff member that has come to clean has always been rude. We have been hung up on multiple times when trying to sort out shady invoices that overcharge us for services that are lack luster. I would never use Belle again in any capacity nor would I recommend them as a service. read more

I called Belle Home to clean my new home before I moved in. I had searched several companies online reading reviews and I really liked their website and the eco-friendly products they used. I also liked how they help in the community with cancer patients and donating service. I wanted to support a small local business and I am very glad that I chose them. They did a wonderful job and were so friendly and helpful - it's pretty amazing to see them work so efficiently. They were very accommodating when I asked them to stay longer and I was so pleased with the service. They really work with you and your budget and no one tries to "sell" you into anything. They even followed up with me after service to be sure I was happy and to get feedback. I have since "gifted" service to family and will hopefully go on regular service soon. Not happy at all. I had an empty house and needed it cleaned prior to renting. Stove,oven,frig and interior windows. Cabinets and hardwood floors. When I came to the house after the work, I called Karen and asked if they had been there yet as I could not tell that anything had been done. The list of things not done is longer by 3 times than those things they did. But simple stuff like vacuuming, damp moping, wiping off the fireplace mantel, wiping closet shelves down...none of this was done, nor were the windows. To add insult to injury, Karen does not return my calls, nor has she sent me an itemized bill. The job could not have been easier, nor could it have been so poorly done. Do not pay in advance, only on completion of any work and that only after an inspection!! read more

I'm disappointed I have to write a negative review about this company, because I had such high hopes based on my interaction up to the day of service; I thought I'd found a cleaning company I'd be using long-term! I found Belle on Angie's List and hired them to do an overall cleaning of a house I'd just finished rehabbing, before I staged & put it on the market. They initially came off as very pleasant & professional; I paid the deposit, scheduled the appointment and we were good to go. I wasn't able to be there at their scheduled time, but left them a key for access and they called while onsite letting me know that everything was going well--and that the only thing they couldn't really get to were the floors, since the workers were still kind of going back & forth. I told them that was no problem, since the priorities were things like the bathrooms, windows, etc. So, the next morning I arrive, ready to stage the property & expecting to see a (relatively) clean house. Imagine my surprise & dismay when...NOTHING had been done. I mean, the bathrooms were still just as dusty as ever...nothing had been touched, still even debris & dust across the kitchen countertops, etc. My contractor said that the women came--but didn't do anything, just "walked around upstairs," lol. When I called Belle to ask what had happened, their "explanations" were all over the place--"the contractors were in the way," "there were issues with the water & electricity," etc. I told them that was ridiculous--the water/electric has been on for months--and especially since they boast about bringing their own cleaning supplies, how much of it do you need to at least do minimal cleaning (which there was no evidence of)? Furthermore, I pointed out that none of these so-called "issues" had been presented to me when the ladies checked in with me during their time there. Since there was no time for them to come back and do a proper job before staging, professional photography & listing in the next few days, I requested a full refund instead. They claimed they could "only refund me for 1 hour,"--a $40 amount, which I thought was ridiculous since nothing was done. So, here I am instead, having to post a bad review & dispute their charges with my credit card company instead. (I would post pictures I took after their supposed appointment, if I had the means to). All in all, I'm not sure what happened between my pleasant pre-appointment experience with them--and the non-cleaning that subsequently happened. This was my first time using a cleaning service and I am very pleased with the results! I paid for a one time cleaning, so there was a non refundable $100 deposit so they can schedule your appointment. I spoke to Jessica and she was very professional and kind, she asked me what I wanted done, what rooms to get, how long I wanted my cleaning to be, etc. They log everything in their system, then on the day before my appointment they sent a reminder of their services. I left them a tip and a note on my counter and left for the day. Someone was here to let them in my house while I was out- there were two cleaners, one cleaned upstairs while the other cleaned downstairs, I was told. They stayed for "4.5 hours"- I put that in quotes because if you want a 4 hour cleaning and 2 people come, they stay for 2 hours because the time gets split up between the two of them, but you're still paying for the 4 hours, It can get confusing which is why I included it here, but I know there are some people out there who might not understand and then complain that their cleaners did not stay for 6 hours total. (It's not a complaint from me though, I understood their explanation). When they were about finished, their manager had called me and asked if I wanted anything else done before they mopped their way out the door, she asked about windows and other things around the house, I said no and thanked them very much, so about a half hour later they were done mopping and left. When I came home I was extremely pleased with the results! Everything was wiped down including my kitchen cabinets, the bathrooms were beautifully done, the baseboards that I requested to be wiped down were spotless, and they wiped down part of my walls where my dogs love to lay against (per request). I believe I was the last appointment of the day, so I know the housekeepers were tired but I definitely did not get the short end of the stick when it came to the quality of their work. I definitely recommend this company, they work hard and it's well worth the money. If I ever need another professional cleaning done I will definitely be giving them the business! read more

I've been using Belle Home Housecleaning for the past 3 months now. Karen, the owner, has been very involved in everything from providing the initial estimate, to confirming my next appointments and sporadically checking in with me to see if everything is still to my liking. They have been very flexible and able to accomodate me with my preferred day of the week and time for the regular cleanings. Although the individual(s) that come out to my home sometimes vary cleaning to cleaning, it seems to be the same core of people who are equally concerned about doing a great job. One the things that has pleased me the most about the staff (in addition to being clean, of course!) is that everyone seems to be a pet owners themselves, and have been great with my cat and dogs (and remember their names too!). read more

Avoid at all cost! One of our worst customer experiences in almost 2 years in the New Haven area. My roommates and I are students in the area. They made false assumptions about us during the introductory call. We were very insulted as a result and we went ahead with another cleaner that actually values their customer. The price was also on a per person per hour basis, meaning having two cleaners will double the cost. This is very deceitful. I would not recommend this place to any student at Yale. read more

I have used Belle home housecleaning for about a year now and I find the service to be extremely professional and well run. My friends ask if I am ever worried about home theft, etc. with a stranger in my home while I work, but that's the beauty of a service like Belle home. You have a service that is accountable if you have any fears about anything not being done right, cleaners not showing up when expected, or things being missing. So far, I have had none of those problems and I recommend this service fully. I can always count on the cleaning being done to my specifications within what is reasonable and the managers at Bell Home are always interested in clients input--so are the cleaners in fact. Belle Home tries to find the cleaner you like that works well with you and tries to keep them on your account so you can depend on the consistent type of job you expect week to week, and you can leave notes or special requests with the cleaner you already have a relationship with. This has always been the case with the cleaners that have come to my home. My experience is that the servers always do what I ask and there are no exceptions. Having someone to help clean my home that I can trust on a bi-weekly basis is exactly what I need to free up my time to better enjoy my life...thanks Belle Home! read more

I started using Belle a year ago and the first experience was a fantastic deep cleaning that I would give a 10 star rating! It was the first time professionals had cleaned my house and I was very happy. My problem was with the consistency after the first cleaning. I never felt like the house was ever that clean again and they definitely started to cut corners on the cleaning. So much so, that my husband started to complain about the quality of service. I was told the same crew would come every two weeks but a family member who was home would tell me that it was usually a different set of people each time, which explains the inconsistency. I did contact the office a couple times and they were always pleasant and said they would update my record for the next cleaning but I did not see much improvement. It is hard to continue to complain about someone's work and then let them back into your house when you are not home. You worry about repercussions, which to be clear, never happened. The price I was paying was reasonable but sadly, I had to change services because I would rather pay another company a little more with the guarantee that they will clean everything and everywhere in my home. I am sorry to give a below average review but perhaps this will help the front office better manage their cleaning crews. If you are just looking for a one time cleaning I think they would do a great job. read more

As far as professionalism in the office, this service is a clumsy atrocity of a business. Upon receiving a call back (after I had to leave a second message), I had to inform them that I had made arrangements with another cleaning service, for cleaning last Thursday. However, they sounded nice and asked me to give them a call if it did not work out. ... Sure enough, the other service called Wednesday night to try to reschedule, although I had already made arrangements to be there for Thursday... Needless to say, I called "Belle Home Housecleaning" right away to try to get an appointment. Upon speaking to the woman who was scheduling me, I was informed that 2 ladies would come out on Friday at noon, if that worked for me. I thanked her and was very grateful. ....Friday came around, and sure enough, 12PM came... with no call or ring at the buzzer. 12:15 came, 12:20 came, and then I called them to ensure that they weren't lost, as I was worried that I was about to lose another day in the field. When I spoke to the lady on phone (a different lady than I originally spoke to) I was informed that because of where I lived, 2 ladies would be required, whom they did not have available.... which apparently causes them to "Take your name off of the board." I would be able to understand this, had I been told initially (two days in advance), or in any other situation with two days notice. However, I DIDN'T RECEIVE 2 DAYS NOTICE I DIDN'T RECEIVE 1 DAY NOTICE I DIDN'T RECEIVE NOTICE ON THE MORNING OF I COULDN'T SPEAK TO KAREN, THE OWNER (The "gatekeeper" refused) THERE IS NO REASON why a customer should EVER have to call a product or service provider who has canceled a service or shipment UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES short of a natural disaster. If other people are having luck with them, then that's awesome, good for them, however, after everything that happened with them last week, I believe that they are having their friends sign up to "Yelp" to give them positive reviews, though I only have my personal experience as evidence. NOTE: It is my experience from having moved for over 30 years domestically and abroad, in defense of our nation, that anyone with access to your personal residence, and the belongings in it... who also display poor discipline and lack of professionalism, are prone to leave you in situations in which you are disappointed by service, and also wondering where some of your belongings are. Hence, I will not make any further attempts to hire "Belle Home Housecleaning". I am NOT saying that they would perpetrate a property theft, but if someone would steal your valuable time... then do they respect you enough, not to steal your belongings? The office, scheduling and customer service were great. Very flexible, personable and willing to correct any complaints. My issue is the actual cleaning job and price. For the money I was paying monthly to have my house cleaned, I expected top quality work. I felt they always rushed the job and never put in much effort (like moving items when they dust, getting the dust behind doors, etc). When I brought it up, they'd send people back to fix it, but when I had to do this each month, it made it clear I wasn't getting the service I was expecting. This service is terrible! I used them for more than a year & should have gotten rid of them long ago. There were repeated missed appointments and multiple times when the house was not cleaned well. The last straw was recently when my gas burner was left on, no flame just gas pouring into the house. After emailing the owner her reply implied that I was wrong, the gas was not left on. If I had not returned home when I did our dog would have died that's if the house did not blowup! read more

Since a couple things were in flux, they told me they'd email or call back with full details (arrival time, which type of cleaning they had time to do, etc.). When I hadn't heard from them by Thursday morning I sent a quick email. Turns out they'd never put me in the system at all, and, as the booker said, "good luck." She was pretty chill about what was, in my life at least, a fairly major bombshell, frankly--but reading the reviews below it looks like I'm not the only client with a no-show from these folks, so maybe it is ho-hum. The problem was they seriously scratched and scuffed my new stainless steel stove/oven on the front panel between the burner knobs. When I called to complain, they immediately responded that the girls didn't do it because they only use non abrasive cloths. I asked Jessica to come to my house and see the damage, but she just said no, they didn't do it. She finally agreed to send her "lead" girl to look at it the next time they came to clean. The same girl came back, took pictures and gave them to whoever. I called again, they said they saw what I was talking about, but they didn't do it. THE END. I originally started with Belle Home a few years ago, they were referred to me by a friend. My initial cleaning was fairly high considering that I had a regular cleaner but I went with the company anyway because they came highly recommended. I was reassured that the same two cleaners would be my primary cleaners and happy to know that the same people would be in my house weekly. I had no big issues with the cleanings, everything was great and the cleaners did a great job. However, I did come home a few times to find cleaning people who weren't my primary, and shoes being worn in the house (something that they said they didn't do) As time went on, the cleanings started to diminish in quality and I did have a pair of earrings go missing and the owner's email to me said that they would show up and I should go to the police. I should have canceled my service then. A month later one of Belle Home cleaners stole my wedding rings and eternity bands while I was in the house. As soon as I realized they were missing the owner, Karen dodged my calls, she pretended not to be in the office and had the receptionist make excuses for her not returning my calls or even bothering to come to the phone. When she did speak to me she told me to go to the police ( which I already did). I was beyond appalled about how it was handled by Belle Home and quite frankly disgusted. Turns out the turnover is VERY high there and they aren't vetting the right people nor are they paying them very well. I would never recommend Belle Home to anyone in the area. read more
