There is parking guaranteed right next to the cottage and it seemed enough for two full-sized vehicles easily. Wi-fi worked great. We loved the wood stove. You don't need it for heating purposes but it was very nice and cozy to sit beside the fire. The cottage has a lot of windows to let in natural light which was enchanting in the morning. When you get there you'll realize the room faces the road but you need to worry as they have great privacy shades that also block any night light. The bathroom actually has a wall heater unit installed too. It was so nice stepping out from the shower into a very cozy bathroom space. We slept amazing. If you are a light sleeper you might consider traveling with a white noise machine or downloading an app for that. There isn't really much noise but the very rare car driving past. It was raining for our stay but there is a nice furnished side deck area that would be nice to eat breakfast on. There is snacks and drinks in the main house which is just a few feet from the cottage. They do also have happy hour where guests can mingle too. As it turned out, Luray is located in Northern Virginia, about 80 miles South of DC in a quaint little town nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Arriving around 10pm, I didn't know how beautiful until the next morning when I woke up to the most awesome sunrise and gentle mountain ranges. The "Inn" is actually one of several huge homes or "villa's" on the top of a hill on 5 acres of beautifully manicured land, something else I discovered the next morning. Upon arriving, I drove up the hill to Villa #1 and was greeted warmly by the owner Darryl Haley, a 6'6, 325-pound gentle giant of a man. As it turns out Haley is a former New England Patriots Offensive Lineman, Ironman Triathlete, and Corporate Fitness Trainer, with a B.S. degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Utah, a degree in Computer Science from George Washington University, I was given a tour of the 5-bedroom villa each with its own bathroom and jacuzzi tub, and settled in a room on the corner with an Eastern view towards the mountains and we agreed that breakfast would be served the next morning at 10AM.. Fortunately for me, I was the only guest in the entire villa so I was able to wake up to a wonderful sunrise, go back to sleep, shower, watch television, roam around the spacious home at my leisure and enjoy the views all before 10AM. At around 9:30am I received a call from Darryl inviting me to come up to the main house for breakfast that included eggs, turkey bacon, orange juice, cinnamon pancakes topped with strawberries and walnuts, and a delicious spicy hashbrown invention called a "Darryl." Normally after eating that much food I'd want to go back to sleep, but I felt energized and ready to go. I spent the next hour talking to Darryl about his career as an athlete in the NFL, and how much he loves cooking, hosting guests, and how it all fits into the theme of The Darryl Haley Bed and Breakfast, "where romance, fun and fitness are the main activities." After he cleaned up the kitchen, I was given a tour of the the main house, the grounds, a cottage tucked away at the bottom of a hill, and the gazebo which overlooks a dairy farm and has mountain views in every direction. We eventually ended up in a spacious garage that had been converted into a fitness and recreation center where I was coaxed into a friendly game of ping pong which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was then given a tour of the city which has plenty of bike and jogging trails, a lake for fishing or canoeing, as well as parks, hiking trails, antique shops, restaurants and wineries. The people are warm and friendly, and the area has become a magnet for artists, writers, and others looking for a retreat from the pace of big city life. In one area of the town there is a sobering reminder of its confederate past and an acknowledge how far this city of 5,000 has come. Whether its a personal or romantic getaway, a family, women's, men's or group retreat, this is a relaxing place to come to and you'll feel at home. We swooped in for a last minute getaway for our 25th anniversary--never having known about this area of Virginia--and came away totally stunned with The Shenandoah Valley and its surroundings. We used AI to find this place, and to our delight, Glen Gordon Manor is a treasure that will forever live in our memories. The manor has been under current ownership for about twenty years, and the chef/owner Dayn Smith lives onsite upstairs in the manor, along with this wife Nancy, who did the decorating for the manor. Maddie was a total sweetheart to us upon arrival (and any place we're greeted with a glass of bubbly earns a special place at the top of our list). We stayed 3 nights at Glen Gordon Manor (Sunday - Wednesday) in the Mews Cottage in the Fyvie room (there are a handful of rooms in this cottage). Fyvie was well-appointed and immediately comfortable. The small porch was a spot where we whiled away many hours (both morning and evening). The coffee delivery from the manor each morning was always so nice! If you've read ANY of the reviews here, you'll know that each room is outfitted with a multi-speaker SONOS system which was so clutch! Breakfasts served inside the manor were so delicious, and so filling! Each morning was something a little different--but the formula the same--usually beginning with a bread or scone, followed by honey-sweetened Greek yogurt with granola, and then the main which always featured a farm-fresh egg presumably from the chickens we gazed upon during breakfast. We couldn't sit still long enough to enjoy the beautiful pool during our visit, even though the weather was perfect for it. We spent quite a bit of our time visiting downtown Front Royal and even more time on Skyline Drive doing some hiking! For one of our hikes, we took advantage of the manor's offering of a packaged picnic lunch, and simply loved it. We enjoyed a five-course meal at the very sophisticated Houndstooth Restaurant in the manor, and were totally awestruck. We spent a lot of time trying to decide which dish was our favorite, arriving at a decision of "inconclusive" because they were all flawless. At the end of our incredible dining experience, the chef himself came into the dining room and spent a few moments at each table--what a treat! I overheard another guest comment that the manor has Pappy Van Winkle, why should I be surprised at that?! Wow! The only recommendation we could make (which has nothing at all to do with the Manor) is, try to plan your visit here on a Wednesay-Sunday ... we found that many of the vineyards were not open Mondays or Tuesdays ... and let's face it, this part of the region is wine country so the vineyards are a must! We visited Rappahannock vineyard, which was right up the street. Not disappointed at all!

My family and I stayed here for a weekend to celebrate my brother's birthday and it was the coziest, cutest place for a family getaway! Huge +1 for the pool table in the house, we created some core memories here and had an awesome game night/ movie night after all our hiking and enjoying the beautiful scenery of Shenandoah. Not to mention, the stars from the deck are INCREDIBLE! The Amazing Grace Getaway offers tons of space for the family, lots of outdoor balconies/ decks, a fully stocked and beautiful kitchen, to name a few! All while being super clean and cozy!
