This little gem of a place was amazing. It was relocated about 8 years ago into a small strip mall, but that didn't take away from the sweet, southern hospitality. Our server made us feel like we were part of the regulars; this was our first time there. She thoroughly explained the menu, what was great, and her favorites. She even invited us to lunch and told us the Beef Tips were what they were known for. The food was incredible. I only added salt to my eggs; everything else was seasoned beautifully. We really enjoyed the shrimp po boy and the brisket po boy. The fried green beans and okra were great. We also liked that we could have our dog with us outside on the front sidewalk under the awning. Wow- went her on a whim & hubs & I were very impressed from the eclectic homey decor to the super friendly waitresses not to mention both the grilled & blackened redfish. Hubs had salad, rice & brown gravy & I got the turnip greens & season rice. We also had the hot water corn bread. This is a good place to get breakfast. Let me set the stage for you so you understand how I ended up here. I was traveling for work and staying at a nearby hotel. I met the tea in the lobby and imagine my surprise when the free breakfast had no eggs at all. I mean, they had hard-boiled eggs but who eats that for breakfast? This turned out to be a blessing in disguise since it led me to find Belle's. Belle's is just what I want in a breakfast restaurant. Super friendly staff, filled with locals, and normal breakfast. I hate boujee breakfast. If you like boujee breakfast, I am not judging you. Because you are probably a girl and who doesn't like girls. However, boujee breakfast places cannot make good normal breakfast, so I avoid them at all costs. I decided to try their brisket omelet. It had a great egg to stuff ratio which is key to a good omelet. Fluffy eggs are BS. A proper omelet should have thin eggs and the perfect amount of stuff. My one complaint with this omelet is that it had a sweet bbq sauce on top. I do not dig sweet breakfast and it threw the taste off a little. Luckily for me, they had hot sauce on the table. I've only had the breakfast here and it's amazing. Simply put the best dam biscuits and gravy I've ever had. The pancakes are amazing too. Don't be fooled by the free meh coffee, the food is to fight for. Service is good too, fast, friendly, and genuine. Ambience is nice but not super telling. It's a nice warm, cozy spot. No wait when we arrived thanks to a decent amount of seating that could accommodate the steady flow of customers. One of the things that I enjoy about traveling is finding different places to eat....particularly breakfast joints. This place was a few miles from my hotel in West Monroe. Easy to get to, easy parking lot. The restaurant is seated in a small shopping center. Sitting in here for a few moments reminds you of what a small town this is.....right out of an old TV show....as if on cue, the local police are sitting in the corner eating breakfast with another local, the very friendly waitress greets everyone who enters by name and engages in chitchat abt the their work, the weather, etc. ...to be clear, the service was super-friendly. I ordered "Pawpaws plate" a straight-forward breakfast dish for sure. Meat, eggs, biscuit, and something called "mojos" which were just home fries. Everything was cooked nicely and was tasty. Passing through town and stopped in for breakfast. Glad we picked this place, the waitress wasted no time coming over to greet us and take our drink and food order. We stopped here while on a road trip. It was a good recommendation. Breakfast is done being served at 10:30 but they were nice enough to let us order. I definitely was "eating with my eyes" because I ordered the very reasonably priced Papaw's breakfast and a single pancake and the portions were big. It was delicious home cooking like your mom would make it. The ladies working were very kind! One lady knew we were out there with our service dog right before. She went out of her way to tell us to bring her inside instead of leaving her in the car (don't worry the windows were open and the car was on). What a find! Lots of locals enjoying breakfast while I was there. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Clearly they have regulars as some people were addressed by name. I opted for the Smokehouse Omelette. It was a brisket and cheese omelette with the option of adding veggies into it (not me, I'm straight meat). From there the options are toast or biscuit and grits or mojos (there version of home fries with Cajun spices sprinkled on). I added the mojos. I added a picture. The omelette was well plated with a drizzle of bbq sauce with a little bite and a sour cream drizzle. As a guy who makes Texas brisket ethos was not as good as Texas but far better than other attempts I've had in a restaurant. The mojos were basic cut potatoes but the seasoning helped them along nicely. All in all a great breakfast on the road. Very glad I stumbled on it and I'd make a return visit for sure if I'm in town for a meal. read more
