When I YELPED this place I wasn't expecting to find a home style exterior, and was pleasantly surprised when I went inside. There is a daily menu on the board and you just grab a piece of of parchment paper and a pen and circle your likings. The service is above and beyond friendly and helpful and they showed me dining like a Sunday dinner at my aunt Rosie's when I was going up. I ordered everything I felt I had to try and now that I'm all growned up I don't have to eat it all to leave the table lol I ordered deviled eggs (Amazing) Mac n cheese (sooo good) stewed potatoes (seasoned so perfect) fried pork chops (to die for ) and both desserts banana pudding and pound cake , both are making there way back to my hotel for my snacks . Everything has good taste no salt and pepper needed and the price for all that was reasonable and most definitely worth every dime . I work out here on and off every other two weeks and now found a place that's good down home eating . If you live here and haven't been , shame on you (unless you haven't yelped it yet like I did) and if you do know then you've been back multiple times I'm sure , as I will . The service was the only thing good on my last visit. They filled the call in orders for the local businesses before feeding the customers in the restaurant. So after sitting waiting on our food for over an hour the server offered us something different from what we paid for because they had no more of what we ordered. Yes you pay in advance! The menu says the plates are $11.75 & $14.75 but in actuality the plates are $18+. After they ran out of the beef tips and vegetables i ordered they just brought me what was in the kitchen. Chicken thighs. For someone who doesn't even eat chicken! Oh, they had a problem with me not just taking what they offered me. After 2 hours we left. No apologies, no compensation and not even a return good bye when we said thank you while leaving. This woman will cater to the business around town and treat her black customers like we should be glad just to be in her facility. read more

Can't say anything except the food is amazing and the hospitality is like you're in someone's home. I have these cornbread squares that are this world. I had the baked chicken and he had a smothered hamburger steak.. sweet potatoes were divine and so was the mac & cheese. We shared our desserts because they were so wonderful. Walk into a beautiful home...like walking into Nana's. Greeted promptly and asked to circle your order choices on a piece of paper. You choose your protein: baked chicken, fried chicken, smothered hamburger steak, pork chop etc. then choose your 3 sides (we were a bit limited due to some items being sold out), choose your dessert and a drink. ALL for $13. You CANT beat that. In about 10 mins my party of 5 had a HUGE spread in front of us. From the first bite of my smothered steak with brown gravy I kid you not, I was transported to my Mamaw's kitchen. Incredible nostalgia, delicious tender and simple. The deviled eggs are so similar to how my momma makes them and so was the homemade banana pudding! It's NOT from a box, it's legit scratch pudding. Unbelievably good, fresh Southern Soul Food. Everything is very fresh. Served promptly and warm (no cold soggy buffet). Great location. Incredible staff. Wish they had outdoor seating. We were traveling from Baton Rouge to Rl Dorado. Wanted something better health-wise than fast foods (Cain's would have been the other choice) and not have to wait 40 minutes for food to be served not even 15 minutes bottom line( 1. Excellent food , 2). Great service 3). Fresh and homemade. 4). About the same PRICE as fast food (good fast food that is) because each meal comes with 3 vegetables, hot water cornbread, a drink and fabulous homemade southern dessert. This place is great! Food and customer service is beyond awesome. I recommend the beef tips and rice, mac and cheese, BBQ ribs, pork chop, cabbage, baked beans, banana pudding, corn, string beans, and peach cobbler. (You fill out the order sheet before you sit down.) You were given the choice of a meat, 3 sides, a dessert and a drink for a very reasonable price. We tried both fried and baked chicken- very good and tender. All the sides were natural tasting and cooked nicely, without the use of extra ingredients (cream, butter, salt) to compensate for flavor. While traveling in the South how can one not have soul food? We made a stop at Nana's Soulfood and are so glad we did. My husband and I enjoyed our plates of fried chicken and vegetables. I could have eaten another serving of yams for dessert but instead I enjoyed the pound cake. I haven't had pound cake like this in a long time. I never make food like this at home so this was a special treat. The dining area is clean and quiet. The waitresses were friendly and very attentive even though we had chosen to eat in a back room. Our food arrived hot and within ten minutes of sitting down. No wait time at all but we ate around 11:30 a.m. The next time we head back east again we will definitely make a stop. read more

This place is pretty good. Very small so don't take more than 6-7 people in a group. It's basically how your grandma would cook for you but if you're lucky like I am your grandmas cooking is probably better. Nothing to write home about. Kinda disappointed since this place was so hyped up. That may have kinda killed it for me too.
