I am a fan of The Flying Burger. I need to start taking suggestions from people at work more often. I ate better on this most recent trip than I ever have when in North LA. Flying Burger is a diner-style restaurant that advertises no freezers. That's right, meat is ground fresh in house and never frozen. The menu has burgers, sandwiches, seafood, and more. I opted for a burger and some cheese fries because sometimes you need to go hard on the carbs, right? The burger was very good for a fried type burger. While not my favorite type of patty, adding two of them made for a solid burger. The burger was dressed well but eventually fell apart after adding mayo, mustard, and ketchup. I had to finish it with a fork and knife. The fries were awesome. They appeared to be hand cut with the skin on which is my favorite The cheese was liquid but not gross like most nacho-style cheese. One of my favorite things about this place was the vats of hand-pumped sauces you could get. This included remoulade, ranch, and tartar. A vat of remoulade is always a positive. If you find yourself in Ruston, you should probably come here. read more

It has peppers, onions, and huge mushrooms. It may have had some squash or zucchini as well It's a fantastic value and is so good! I like the rice and black beans that are served with it. The service here is always excellent. The food is good! I always get catfish fillets, fries, hush puppies, and recently a chicken strip. All tastes delicious! There's something different this restaurant does with their french fries versus other restaurants. The fries aren't salty. They're a light brownish color. I had grilled catfish tacos on Sunday in Ruston and then had the same thing on Thursday in El Dorado, AR. The comparison was remarkably different. The meal in El Dorado was fresh and flavorful. The meal in Ruston was completely not and didn't taste at all the same. If I was owner of this franchise, I'd check to see if your restaurant in Ruston is using the franchise food because the El Dorado location is way better. The food is that different. read more

Excellent customer service. You get your moneys worth and the burgers melt in your mouth. We highly recommend.

Clean restaurant with quick service and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable. The fish is always great! The hamburger steak is a bit weak. Thin hamburger did not reflect the meat in the case. Wish it came with mashed potatoes instead of fries. The meat case has beautiful steaks, but that doesn't seem to be on the menu or at least I didn't find it. I am sure that every restaurant is having trouble cooling down in the heat wave. Maybe you could add fans to move the air until the heat breaks. read more

We were welcomed in by happy employees as we walked in the door. My table had gumbo, shrimp po-boy and hamburger steak basket. All of us left full and happy. Restrooms were clean & the staff was just awesome. I loved having so many sauces to dip my hand-cut fries: ranch, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce and remoulade. Apparently there is not a lot of competition in Ruston (I've never seen a town with so few 4 or more star resteraunts--and literally no good pizza options), but Flying Burger would do well in any city. Solid burger and great home made fries. Friendly staff. Quick service. Had a cinnamon roll for dessert (fresh made daily). There's really no need to look anywhere else. Great stop on a Roadtrip adventure. Was intrigued by the case of fresh meat, which happens to be the way they prepare all of their food FRESH. The shrimp were from the golf of Mexico and had such an amazing flavor, onion rings weren't traditional more like think onion strips but extremely good made with real onions. The burgers are made in store and the flavor says it all. Too bad I'll probably never be back in this part of town, but if I am I would definitely come back!
