If I could give ZERO stars I would! My family and I used to enjoy staying at the Bellevue by the Sea as we have been coming to visit Wells ME for many years. The property is now under new management and we found our stay to be absolutely miserable. Upon check in, the room was extremely filthy with heavy dust and dirt in the bathroom and on the bed frames, sandy floors, feminine product wrappings and potato chips sprinkled on the floor. Also, can't forget to mention the chewed gum stuck to the side of the bed frame. WE WERE HORRIFIED! During our stay there was a brief heavy rainstorm that resulted in water pouring through the skylight. Our luggage was soaked. I went and reported the issue to the front desk. I was shocked and surprised when the front desk worker told me that "the board of directors does not allow them to take guest feedback". She became very defensive and confrontational when we asked if we could speak to the manager. The woman explained that she could not release the phone number for the manager and the name for the board of director due to "HIPPA"?? (Am I missing something, hippa is a healthcare law and does not apply to the hotel industry). We were concerned that the leaky skylight had not only ruined our trip but was about to do the same for the next guest. The front desk did say that there was another party checking in the day we were checking out of room #203 and there was rain in the forecast, YIKES! I have never written a bad review EVER and hate to do this but was encouraged to do so by the front desk worker. She said that there was nothing she could do and encouraged us to write out our complaints to get the attention of the board of directors. I surely hope they are able to read this review and make necessary change! Needless to say we we will never return and we will tell our family/friends to steer clear of the Bellevue by the Sea. There are tons of beautiful places in Wells, please do not waste your money! read more

The Bellevue is a perfect location, two minutes from wonderful Well's Beach. The units are generally perfect, plus there is swimming pool, sauna etc.... But above all, it is the welcome that is absolutely extraordinary. Steve at the front desk is the kindest, most courteous, welcoming, helpful, friendly person you could ever meet. He alone is one of the reasons why we return to Bellevue year after year. It's like coming home. read more

We have been staying at The Bellevue by the sea for many years and have never had any complaints until this year. We like to stay in Cottage 301 by the road, which has been redone inside and out so you would think the furniture that was there would be new also, however that's not the case. When we walked in there was a smell I can only describe as wet dog and dirty. On the website it lists the cabin as having room for 6 with a queen sofa. When we went to see if it was actually a sleeper sofa we found filth. There was dirt, used napkins, chips, crayons and papers and not a sleeper sofa. the floor in front of the chair had gold fish crumbs on the floor and behind the couch had dust a used water bottle, candy wrappers and dirt. The blankets on the beds, one had dried blood, Yes it was blood and the other had stains on it. I spent an hour cleaning I even cleaned the AC Filter because it was dirty all just to make the cabin feel welcoming and feel like we wanted to stay. We paid $2341.32 for the week I shouldn't have to clean and air out the place when we arrive. We showed the clerk Karen at the Desk and she was so apologetic and was helpful in getting us clean bed linens. Karen reached out to the cleaning manager Adam to advise him of the situation because he was the one who signed off on the cottage as being cleaned. Adam spoke with my husband and stated he could come right out but there was no need for him to do so that day because I already cleaned, then Adam stated he would come see us the next day in which he never did. No phone call, Email or in person visit from Adam. I'm sad to say with spending this much money and having the place the way it was when we arrived, we cant take the risk next time and will be moving on to other locations. read more

Clean updated room. Walking distance to the beach. Close to shops and restaurants. Pool was great on rainy days. Beds were comfortable.

Great experience. Very close to the beach (Walkable). We got the studio jacuzzi room which had one large room with kitchenette, jacuzzi, and all other basic items including utensils, dishwasher, microwave, beach chairs, even jackets, sandals, extra blanket etc... Beach is walking distance from Atlantic Ave road. Walk a few mins from the intersection down on Atlantic Ave until you see 'Public Way 1' blue sign board. There is a small narrow walkway to the beach. The water was freezing anyways. But a great beach to simply while away the day. There are some gift shops close by, including restaurants, departmental stores(Hannaford) and many other interesting places on the Mile road and Route 1. Plenty of sea food restaurants around. Seacoast Pizza & Pasta is a great take out place. NY style pizza. Make sure you order your pizza ONE HOUR in advance. Mehkong Thai is also a great place, in case you like thai food. Front desk at the Bellevuebythesea hotel, is helpful. There is an indoor swimming pool (3.5 feet to 6 feet deep) as well as a game room downstairs with a pool table. Loved staying here...Will come back again. read more

Stayed here for the first time with my husband, for a weekend getaway. Very nice clean rooms, close to shops and right on the beach. Inside pool was a very nice plus. The reason that I only give three stars is because the woman that works the front desk (I think she said her name was Carrie, but she was shouting profanities so loudly I couldn't tell) has an anger problem. We had accidentally parked in another person's spot. I am close to 80 years old, and have never been shouted at and cursed at like Carrie cursed at us. My husband was shaking from fear. Too bad we won't be returning. Our unit was wonderful, but I don't want to risk being shouted at again. read more

I have stayed here before and loved it so we booked again. What a mistake! Do not stay in room 208! It's out of date, the beds are old and very uncomfortable and the couch is NASTY!! I'm so disappointed this time! I will not be coming back for how much money we spent we should had had a much nicer room!!! read more

I have stayed here many times. Rooms are very clean and quiet. Very nice indoor pool. The staff is super friendly and attentive.

Bellevue by the Sea may have the worst internet setup I've ever experienced at a hotel. At night or on rainy beach days you may want to watch Netflix, go online on your laptop, play video games online, etc. Welp, you won't be able to do any of those things with the setup they have here. It's embarrassing. Hell, it took me a good ten minutes to load up this review page while connected to their wifi. It's the 21st century - this needs to be better. And I don't want to here the lazy excuse of "You shouldn't be on the internet when you're at the beach!" Plenty of other hotel in Wells are close to the beach with better wifi. I'd suggest looking elsewhere. read more

This may not be a fair review because from what I understand, the rooms here are all privately owned and therefore are wildly varied in quality. Our room was just ok. Very clean, but had some issues, the worst being the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. On the plus side, we got a great deal - $100 for a two night stay and it was right next to the beach, which more than makes up for the shortcomings of the particular room we had. Will try to book this again, can't beat the price and location - just will try and pick a better room next time. read more

I don't like to say anything negative about anyone's business, but we just got back from two nights at this place and we were very disappointed. The maintenance on the room we stayed in was substandard to say the least. Bathtub didn't drain, toilet plugged easily (as noted in a small note posted on the bathroom wall), when the toilet plugged at 8:15 pm, there was no one in the office and it was closed for the night. Many cob job type repairs to the room made it almost impossible to enjoy. Many other annoying problems all weekend long. We will definitely be back to Wells to visit, but not at this motel. read more

Overall the room was nice! Honestly I would give it more stars maybe even 5, but the thing that bothered me was.. why do you waste the money on a flat screen TV if your don't use HDMI for your cable.. here you have a HD tv and because you don't upgrade your cable.. I'm watching TV in 480k?? You may as well leave those old school flat screen(btw there was one in our bed room) I mean if it was summer I would just go to the beach, but as its winter and 16 outside.. I'd like to watch the football game in HD.. it's 2017.. small town or not up grade your cable service it won't cost you that much.. $20 cable.. also WiFi is poor at best.. not high speed as they advertise.. website is all dated last year.. had to call to find if those prices still applied.. you can tell this bness is run down and management has forgot it.. A little TLC would make this place pretty amazing! Don't think we would stay here again.. sad really.. read more

To start, this condo complex has a great location in Wells, Maine. The complex is just 50 yards from the ocean. I am still not quite clear on the ownership situation but it is possible that each room is individually owned, with that being said my stay was in Room 206. Upon our arrival the front desk was vacant with a sign that said "be back shortly", but knowing that this is a smaller venue with small staff I didn't have a problem with this. After a few minutes the front desk person checked us in quickly and we were off to our room. Upon entering the room everything looked very nice, there was a large television downstairs (with an XBox even). The upstairs loft had a large bed, another large TV, and an Apple computer. Even though things looked nice this is where the problems began. Upon entering the room the A/C unit was switched to On but was not running, it ended up being just a tripped breaker and did not occur again during our 2 night stay, so not a big deal. There were absolutely no instructions in the room on how to gain access to the computer or use the wifi, when we finally did ask about the wifi passcode, the signal was too weak to use in our room. I turned the computer on and it appears you had to enter a credit card to gain internet access but I didn't explore this further. First thing we tried to use was the shower. The drain did not drain properly and you were standing in 3 inches of water by the end of your shower. I informed the front desk about this and they gave me a bottle of drano to use which didn't work. The next issue was the downstairs television, the sound would just stop and the screen would go blank with the text saying "weak signal". I told the front desk about this, they looked in some kind of notebook and told me that this problem was "not in the book" and shrugged their shoulders. I told them maybe they should add it to the book. I knew right then this issue would not be resolved and I assumed that about any issues going forward. We were also told that the fold out bed would have linens on them, when we opened the bed up there were no linens, we did find some rolled up sheets (obviously used) on the closet floor, so another trip to the desk for clean sheets. The next day we were off to the beach, upon our return that evening the cleaning staff had given us fresh towels and that was it. The trash was not emptied, the beds were not made, the floor was not vacuumed and the shower issue was unresolved. This is the reason for the poor review, the broken/non functional room issues and the lack of housekeeping really ruined what had the makings of a great room. read more

I was very I'm pressed with this property and the quality of the room that me an my girlfriend had gotten. It was a huge one bedroom loft with updates kitchen, bed, computer and living room area. It was just seconds from the ocean in a beautiful little are with shops and many other bed and breakfast type establishments. We stayed from 5/17/15- 5/19/15 and will be coming back again in the near future. The whole staff was nice and very kind. The room we were in wad better then the apartment me and my girlfriend currently own. The only thing I will say something about is that during the week there is only someone at the front desk from 11-5 to answer your calls if you need anything and when the front desk leaves the pool also closes. I like to swim early in the morning or late at night to get a workout. I also think an on propert fitness center would be very nice. All in all it was a fantastic place to stay. read more

We have been summer vacationing at Wells Beach for several years now. The last few years, we have stayed at Bellevue by the Sea and we love it! We keep coming back every summer! The rooms are clean. The indoor pool is wonderful and the staff are courteous and helpful. They are always friendly and full of smiles. We have never been unhappy with our stays here. Small room; but great location. Very short walk from the beach. Indoor pool touch if you need to get out of the sun for a bit. Refrigerator included and microwave/coffee machine was nice where as most places would tack this on as another thing to charge for. Would stay stay here again. read more
