Spent a night at this new, no-frills motel. The staff were nice. When we checked in the clerk excitedly told us that we had a water view room. Picture attached. The accommodations are basic- IKEA level furniture and appointments. We had to keep the fan on as a white noise machine because the soundproofing leaves something to be desired. We took two rooms. One smelled like old chicken soup and the other had an ant in the bed. The breakfast was OK. There is a patio in the back and bicycles available to use. The two best things about this hotel were that the beds were quite comfy and all of the soaps, etc... were in big, environmentally friendly pump bottles. I have stayed in many Maine hotels. They, on average, aren't as nice as in other places. This one is below average for the area. I would rather stay at the Hampton in for around the same price.

We stayed here at the end of October and the 1st of November and had an excellent stay. The place is very new and I think they are still working on a few little things, but nothing that impacted us and there was no construction noise or dust. We loved the location, very close to a beach and quite a few restaurants. We strongly recommend The Steakhouse - yes that's the name - it was awesome in every way...totally lucked upon that when The Maine Diner was closed. About that-in the off season some places close early or just close up for late fall/Winter so CALL ahead, don't rely on the internet. We also like Varano's Ristorante Italiano which is basically adjacent to the property-you have to walk out to the road to get to the entrance-but it really couldn't be much more convenient. They were very good-not quite as amazing as The Steakhouse-but worth going back. Anyway, there is a lot of stuff in or close to Wells, and that really made for a great stay. The building is new and so everything is ultra clean and fresh. The room had usb plugs everywhere and the TV was massive-I have to guess 60-65 inch! The beds were excellent and I liked how the fridge and microwave were near the front of the room-so they are over tile-it's a good thing for cleanliness imo. Breakfast was very good, for a hotel, hot stuff, cold stuff, the usual fare. They have coffee and tea all day. There is an outside patio area off the breakfast area-and while it was fall-like cold, we did go out and sit for a little. In short, we had a great stay. We tend to stay at a lot of Hampton Inn's and Holiday Inn Expresses, I tend to favor the former and this felt like one of them...overall very pleasant. The staff was great too! We will be back. Oh and if you are in the area, we can't recommend the little hike at Rachel Carson just a bit North off route 9. It's like 20-30 mins and pretty year round.

Dirty towels left 1/2 in and 1/2 out of the uncleaned microwave

HORROR STORY...1st room was filthy...walked to 3rd fl. with luggage to find dirty towel, unmade bed and a PILE OF FECES in the toilet, sticking up the room. Should have taken photo but I could not get out of there fast enough. Went down to front desk and was told that it was a holiday weekend and THE ONLY OPEN ROOM for the night was a HANDICAPPED accessible room with NO BATHTUB on the 2nd fl. When we got to that room we discovered a DIRTY microwave with CLEANING TOWELS stuck 1/2 in and 1/2 out. The remainder of the room seemed clean and we are 70 yrs.old and it was very late, so we stayed, after making these complaints. Kayla, who felt bad about this, said she was sure that the Manager would compensate us for at least 1 night. The next day we discovered we had POOR SINK WATER PRESSURE and LOOSE faucet. We needed to get a big pile of towels to build a wall the length of the shower to keep the water from flooding the bathroom! Some of the extra towels given to us by the front desk were DIRTY TOWELS and 2 had a LONG HAIR ON IT. There was raw dry wall above the shower, showing incomplete renovations. Fri. morning breakfast was run by a rude girl in charge of the Kitchen named Kelsey M who refused to bring out more cinnamon buns (saying there were no more). When she walked back into the kitchen I saw some on the Kitchen counter. LAZY WORKER... just like the cleaning people. When we went to check out after my stay Millie told me that there would be NO DISCOUNT for my room- WHY ??? saying that the manager told her we had an UPGRADE TO A SUITE...A HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE SUITE. Millie said she would lose her job if she discounted my room, but felt badly. I asked to have the GENERAL MANAGER JEFF call me . THE GENERAL MGR NEVER CALLED ME. I called Holiday Inn Express 1-800-621-0555 and filed a complaint. I spoke to Viel 9/5/24, Brian 9/16/24, Jem 9/20/24, and Sr. Mgr Honey, on 9/23/24, at Holiday Inn express who did nothing more- except promise me, we would get a call in 24-48 hrs. All I was given was 10K points and my room cost us between $284- $379 @ night during our 3 nights. THAT IS NOT COMPENSATION! I never got a call from the Hotel with an apology. Holiday Inn Express is a franchise. The OWNER of this one, I was told was DAVE SAWANT. I requested he call me to hear my story. He too never called me. STAYING AT THIS PROPERTY IS A MISTAKE. Not all Holiday Inn Expresses are like this. We have had wonderful experiences elsewhere because they were run well. This one is not and no one cares. Holiday Inn Express Complaints are a joke. They do nothing more than give you a few points and hope you go away. Would you want your grandparents treated like this?

We had a corner king room looking right at the beach. I was excited to drink my coffee on the balcony only to find the weather was not in our favor. Still, I was able to enjoy it at the big sliding windows in the room. We had turned on the fridge in the room to use it only to soon turn it off because it was so very noisy. I didn't use the shower at all because there is no heat in the bathroom and the floor (being right over the parking garage) was extremely cold. It just wasn't worth it but it means I can't comment on water pressure or anything else. It was a very comfortable bed and a nice, serviceable room. Bonus that the hand sink is outside the toilet/shower area. Wifi was no trouble for us and easy to connect to. Staff was very pleasant. The folks who stayed above us were not so pleasant and made a ton of noise very late at night (music, partying, etc). That's no fault of the staff or motel but was very frustrating in a nearly empty motel. If you have a tall SUV, you may want to park outside instead of in the garage. Though it's really great they do have plenty of parking figured out for being in such a congested area. It was so nice to be able to hop right down onto the beach from outside our room. We'll be back for sure, this is an excellent location.

THIS REVIEW IS ON ROOM 109. Just $20 more per night for a nice fireplaced room. NOTE, photos online are VERY deceiving and we were greatly disappointed in our room. It was so small. Room was pie shaped, located near the elevator and 2 entry doors. So the room was noisy and the pie shaped room made the room VERY small compared to other rooms that we have stayed in on the 2nd floor over the past 29 years. The room is marketed as newly renovated ‍. Yes they have nice tile floors which were absolutely freezing even with the fireplace on (it has a one hour timer) and the ceiling tiles have been replaced. They could definitely do away with the massage chair in the corner and place another arm chair. Just the 2 of us and there was just one comfortable arm chair and a desk chair (and a metal filing chair if you decided to use it). The king size bed did fill the room. The bathroom was a mere 4'x8' with just under 3' in the toilet area and just 2 feet from the tub to sink. They only had one small 3 drawer dresser (each drawer was just 6" deep). Needless to say the two of us had to live out of our bags due to lack of space for our winter clothing (14° or less outside). Don't know if we were near some sort of drain because all night long you could hear water either being flushed or running. I HIGHLY recommend Lafayette Oceanfront resort but do not wast your money on a fireplaced room. We have been coming here for 29 years and hope to be coming here for another 20+ years

The property is now under new management and we found our stay to be absolutely miserable. Upon check in, the room was extremely filthy with heavy dust and dirt in the bathroom and on the bed frames, sandy floors, feminine product wrappings and potato chips sprinkled on the floor. Also, can't forget to mention the chewed gum stuck to the side of the bed frame. WE WERE HORRIFIED! During our stay there was a brief heavy rainstorm that resulted in water pouring through the skylight. Our luggage was soaked. I went and reported the issue to the front desk. I was shocked and surprised when the front desk worker told me that "the board of directors does not allow them to take guest feedback". She became very defensive and confrontational when we asked if we could speak to the manager. The woman explained that she could not release the phone number for the manager and the name for the board of director due to "HIPPA"?? (Am I missing something, hippa is a healthcare law and does not apply to the hotel industry). We were concerned that the leaky skylight had not only ruined our trip but was about to do the same for the next guest. The front desk did say that there was another party checking in the day we were checking out of room #203 and there was rain in the forecast, YIKES! I have never written a bad review EVER and hate to do this but was encouraged to do so by the front desk worker. She said that there was nothing she could do and encouraged us to write out our complaints to get the attention of the board of directors. I surely hope they are able to read this review and make necessary change! Needless to say we we will never return and we will tell our family/friends to steer clear of the Bellevue by the Sea. There are tons of beautiful places in Wells, please do not waste your money!

Beautiful views of the ocean, beach and marsh. Grounds are very well kept and landscaped. Walk to the beach to see the sun set or rise. We sipped champagne at 10PM while looking up at the starry night then fell asleep to the sound of waves hitting the beach. Room has everything you may need to feel at home. Mini fridge, Keurig with coffe pods, sugar, creamed in the fridge, Box fans were available in the event that the breeze isn't enough for you. We kept the windows opened to allow that clean ocean air roll in. Shower's water pressure was excellent. Bathroom and room in general were very clean. Bed and linens all very clean and neat. I generally don't sleep well at any hotel so I can't really vouche for how comfortable it was. I would definitely bring my own pillows next time just for personal preference but there are extra pillows available if needed. Proximity to several dining options and shopping are all within a 5 minute drive. Batson's Brewing, Billy's, Boardwalk Arcade and Hannaford's are all within a short driving distance. The Lobster shack near the restaurant has wonky hours so plan accordingly. They closed at 7:30 on the nights we were in town so can't judge them. We showed up at 7:35, no exaggeration, and were turned away. I get it. 20-30 minute drive into Kennebunk, cool New England town with many small businesses. 45 minute drive to Portland for outstanding food. If you're planning a trip to Maine, make Moody's your home base. Relax, unplug, unwind and enjoy nature.
