Spending a few days thrifting and antiquing and stayed here. Staff was great and friendly at checkin. Hotel was very clean. We reserved a King Suite and good or bad depending on how you look at it, it was at the end of the hallway. Long walk there, lol. But it was quiet. Rooms were comfortable. Morning buffet breakfast was good. Although would like to see a little more variety in the choices. Still was good. read more

Having a great stay here. The breakfast this morning was yummy with a waffle maker, muffins, cereal, omelette and potatoes and sausages. Really really great. The materials in this place are so fancy. The Pluses: Super convenient location, stone's throw to beaches, restaurants, shopping, and the Turnpike. Staff was very friendly, accommodating, and professional. The room was spotless and amazingly spacious, with a huge closet and a small sectional and pullout loveseat in addition to the king bed...with still plenty of floor space to move around. The continental breakfast was what is expected...waffle station, oatmeal and cold cereals, breads, English muffins, and bagels for toasting. Some pastries, yogurt, fruit, and omelets, sausage, and potatoes. The lobby area is very cozy and comfy with plush sofas and armchairs. And quite honestly? The complimentary coffee was quite delicious. The pool and spa, in addition to the fitness center were very clean. The Drawbacks: Bed was HARD AS A ROCK! Some more drawer space would be beneficial as well..yes, the huge closet is nice, but one small drawer for three people? Definitely NOT sufficient. If not for the concrete slab of a bed (I found sleeping on the sectional more comfortable) I probably would have given Hampton Inn & Suites Wells-Ogunquit five stars. . read more

As a Hilton Diamond member I have stayed in probably 25-30 different Hampton Inns across the country for my business travels and this is by far the best. The hotel was very clean, room clean, patio spacious, a water dispenser in the lobby and a comfy lobby with oversized chairs and fireplace. Food is the same as other Hamptons but the outdoor areas were well maintained and the staff was friendly. read more

A really nice hotel. When I walked in I thought it was a brand new hotel. When I questioned the front desk clerk she said no they have been open since 2006 but they do refurbishments every three years. The room we had a nice size suite with a fridge and a microwave. The carpet, furniture and general facility including the grounds were all on good repair. Also we had plenty of dining options not to far from the hotel and all of the hotel staff were friendly. We will be back, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. read more

What a great place to stay in Wells-Ogunquit! We arrived early for check-in but our room was not quite ready yet. Julie and Lauren of the front desk went out of their way to be hospitable to us and make us comfortable while we were waiting, giving us water as well as regular updates on the room status. We sat in the cozy lobby by the breakfast area, and since the hockey playoffs were on the TV, husband was happy. After the housekeepers worked their magic, checked by Lauren, Julie was able to check us in and we finally got to our spotless room on the third floor, with a view of the ocean to the east. Then we treated ourselves to the hot tub and pool downstairs - very relaxing. Hampton Inns are always top-notch - we've stayed in half a dozen of them around the country, and they're consistently reliable, clean, and quiet, with exceptionally friendly staff members all around. read more

Centrally located in Wells, a short distance (about a mile) from York Beach right off busy Route 1. The hotel staff was friendly and gave us some good tips on the area and the cookies were appreciated as well as the newspapers. Breakfast was one of best we ever had in our travels at mid-range hotels and it was served until 10am. The rooms were standard fare but ours didn't include a dorm which we could have used. The rates were very high, however during the summer and we wish we had shopped around a bit more as we saw many 'Vacancy' signs nearby. CVS is next door and Congdon's Donuts too which are also available during the breakfast at Hampton if you get there early enough. read more

The location of this hotel is really great. You can easily spend time in Wells, Ogunquit and Kennebunk. The rooms are not the newest rooms, but they are large and clean. Seriously, we had two queen beds with a sofa pullout and the room was large enough that it felt like we had a dance floor. The bathroom sink is outside of the toilet/shower area which is a good and a bad thing. It's really only a bad thing in the middle of the night and someone has to wash their hands. The plus is being able to use the sink area while not getting in the way of someone using the toilet or the shower. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. The people at the front desk are all smiles and ready to help. That makes a big difference after a 7 hour drive to get there. The housekeeping staff was also very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was decent as well. They served up 3 variations of main entrees in 3 days, that's pretty good. The free coffee is nice and it wasn't terrible at all. I travel quite frequently for business and Hilton properties are my primary hotel choice. The Hampton Inn and Suites in Wells, ME. is, hands down, the best Hampton Inn that I have ever stayed at. The customer service is amazing. I stayed at the hotel for the first time last week and then stayed there again a week later. The gentleman at the front desk remembered my name after only one check in and greeted me by name when I walked in the door. During my first stay here my room key did not initially work. I went to the front desk and let them know and they went above and beyond to correct the issue. Not only did the apologize for the mistake but my room was upgraded for my "trouble". The rooms are well equipped (mini fridge, high definition TVs, work desks, etc.) and exceptionally clean. If you're in the area whether for business travel or for vacation the Hampton Inn is a million times better than any of the little motels along the beach. I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

We decided to stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Wells - Ogunquit in Maine as the primary reason for our trip was to visit Ogunquit Playhouse and to see the beautiful area of Ogunquit and Wells. The hotel is about 10 minutes on a good day meaning no traffic. The bottleneck is always at Shore Road and US 1 route, especially in the evenings and weekends. Allow plenty of time to get to your destination. The hotel is not too bad a stay for families. There were 5 adults and we opted for the suite with 2 Queen Beds and the sofa bed. It was a good size. The bathroom has a door but the sink is outside in the open close to the beds. I wish there was a door that would provide privacy in the sink area as a change room. The beds were extremely clean and it was a comfortable sleep. Housekeeping could be a little more forward-thinking. We stayed here for 4 nights and on all those days, we had to ask for clean soap on the 3rd day. The soap we had at the sink was getting mushy. Eww! Maybe anticipate what your guests need? I like the breakfasts in the morning. This is the first Hampton Inn I've stayed in that has variety in their breakfast items. One morning, we had fresh cut watermelon. Other mornings, we had blueberries and raspberries. So good with cold cereals! The lady in charge impressed us very much! Kudos to the lady in charge! She made sure everything was in place and was always replenishing. The hot food items also varied each day and that was nice, too! One day it was bacon, another day, we had sausage. The business centre was very useful. I like to be able to surf the net quickly and print whatever we need. read more

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last four years. The rooms have always been very comfortable and clean. It is centrally located to Kennebunkport, Wells, and Perkins Cove. The grounds and common areas are impeccably kept. But what makes this hotel really stand out are the people. From the time you check in the people who are at the front desk are friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff always smiles and greets us. And the ladies who prepare breakfast do an outstanding job. Each day they have something different on the bar. And it is ALWAYS clean and inviting. They go above and beyond to provide a great variety of quality food. Most hotels that offer free breakfast just set out the requirements but the ladies here take pride in what they serve and it shows. I'm impressed that year after year I encounter much of the same staff which is a testament to how the property is run. Obviously the management must be doing something right to make employees want to stay. I travel between 100-125 nights a year. Most of the hotels I encounter are just a clean comfortable room. But this place stands out as being my favorite. It's what people hope for when they book a room for either vacation or business travel. It's easy to get it right once and a while. However every year I show up the quality is exactly the same. The attached picture is of the grill we used on the outdoor patio. There's something comforting about every Hampton Inn being eerily the same, so much so that I had a feeling of déjà vu since I stayed in a Hampton Inn (in Nashville TN) a couple weeks ago. Free breakfast, free wifi, free parking, and of course, the Hilton points are also perks of staying in a Hampton Inn. The first room I got assigned has a broken AC unit...I called the front desk and they reassigned me to another identical room (plus a mini fridge...I guess some rooms don't have them so you have to make sure to request it) and brought me the keys so I wouldn't have to go back to the front desk (thanks front desk girl with cool purple hair!) However, while this Hampton Inn is great, the issue is that there is nothing really distinctive about the property. And since I was so near the ocean, I really wanted to stay next to the ocean, and not on a busy road that was about a 5 minute drive away from accessing a beach (after paying for parking) or needed a car to get anywhere other than the pizza place across the street or CVS next door. The B&B I booked later in my week in Maine was less expensive and within strolling distance of beaches and restaurants...while the room was not as comforting or nice as Hampton Inn, location was everything. read more

Property is very clean but there is a light soapy smell in the rooms and hallways. When recently sprayed- we sneezed. Omelettes, turkey sausage and French toast sticks were very processed and gross. Fruit was canned. Fortunately there were other options like yogurt and bananas. read more

We have been staying at this Hampton Inn since it opened 7 or 8 years ago. Vernon, the General Manager is amazingly accommodating. The staff are all so pleasant and work very hard to please. Very clean, nice health club and warm indoor pool. Vernon is so friendly to all his guests. Most are repeat customers. I like staying with the Hampton Brand... no surprises, very nice. read more

We recently booked a 1 week stay at this hotel. We had been there at least 5 times previously over the years and had always had a nice stay. This year, things had changed a lot due to their new remodeling. The biggest thing we noticed is they had removed the bureau and offered only 1 small drawer and a wire rack by the bed to put your clothes into. We're usually not that hard to please, but how are 2 adults supposed to put a weeks worth of clothes away in this little space. I asked the folks at the front desk and they were nice but basically said that is the way it is now and that they were moving towards a more youthful setup. Wait, what....don't young people, especially ones with kids, have things to put away? Then there is the bed. They placed this huge desk (with an unmovable lamp in the way of watching TV) at the end of the bed which anyone would bump into getting in and out of bed. Again, the front desk just shrugged. Now this place is not cheap. It is over $200 during the week and even more on the weekend (and this was at the end of September). There were a few other changes that made staying there unpleasant but sufficed to say, we canceled our reservation after the first night. These corporate policies are actually creating unhappy customers. Sorry Hampton Inn (Hilton), you have lost 2 good and regular customers. read more

I love staying at Hampton Inns, I have never had a bad experience at any of them. Pros: *We had a suite with a refrigerator, microwave, two beds with a fold out couch, etc. It was very nice, the beds were comfortable and the room clean. Everything worked fine. *The desk staff (especially Stephanie and Megan) was very pleasant and friendly. *The continental breakfast changed every day and while it was smaller than most hotels I usually stay at, it was still good and I liked the variety of breakfast foods that was offered. The dining area was always clean. *The indoor pool was very refreshing although watch your step because the floor is always soaking wet and VERY slippery. Also, unless you are in the pool, the atmosphere is very steamy/very warm because the hot tub is right next to the pool, so you will be sweating if you are just sitting there watching your kids/friends swim. Now some cons: *One elevator was out of order but - thankfully - it didn't impact our stay. *The hot tub/whirlpool is VERY, VERY hot. It takes a while to get used to . Yes I know, it's a hot tub, but the water seems almost scalding when you first step in. *Very small fitness rooms. I have stayed at other Hamptons with larger fitness rooms. *Our keys didn't always work. Sometimes we had to put it in the key card slot several times before it worked. *Cell phone reception is VERY spotty in the hotel, especially the lobby. It is truly hit or miss. There were times when I could connect right away and other times where it took 10 minutes for my cell phone to send a text message (and I have a newer smartphone). Without the cell phone issues I would have given this hotel five stars because the other cons are pretty minor issues. read more

This hotel gave me SCABIES. My husband, my 3 year old daugther, my 18 month old son and I stayed at the Holliday Inn in Wells Maine from July 03 to July 05th 2018. We returned from this 2 day stay with family members afflicted with both Hand Foot Mouth Disease and Scabies. Four days after we left the hotel, I broke out in itchy blotches all over my body. Thinking it was poison ivy I treated it with home remedies, while we cared for our kids recovering from hand foot mouth disease. After my condition worsened, I went to the walk in clinic and was diagnosed with Scabies. We're surprised and disappointed that after many calls to the hotel front desk and a voicemail to the general manager we have not heard back, leading us to believe that the Hampton Inn Wells isn't concerned about other subsequent guests leaving with Hand Foot mouth or Scabies and the costs to those customers. We called Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the report found violation in the pool area. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. read more

I put a personal written request in to the general manager almost 2 weeks prior to arrival for a little extra special treatment as I was bringing my mother in law who is 84 on her first vacation. Firstly, ZERO response from management. Secondly, upon check in, I was told there were no suites for upgrade and no handicapped accessible rooms. Thirdly, I was placed in possibly the WORST room in the whole hotel. Directly across from the public bathroom on the first floor!! When I went back to the desk to complain, they gave us a new room. LO AND BEHOLD, a handicapped accessible room!!!! I thought they didn't have any available. Breakfast was a bomb as it literally looked like a bomb went off. Out of everything. And later in the evening, when we brought a pizza back to the lobby to eat and play board games, the dining area still looked like a bomb went off. Egg peelings and cereal all over the floor. Maple syrup coating the tables. Seriously, this general manager needs to pay attention to the conditions of the hotel. Will tone back to this particular location. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND HILTON FELL VERY SHORT OF THEIR STANDARDS HERE! read more

We love this place. Traveling with a 1,3,5 year old, we all enjoyed our stay. I don't know if the receptionist purposely put us on the first floor but it was such a convenience knowing that I have 3 kids with me. That's a plus in my book. Our room was right next to the pantry and pool. The pool was clean and the room was nice with high ceilings. No fridge in the room made it an inconvenience but the ice machine worked and I can deal with that. We all looked forward to our morning American breakfast with eggs and bacon, hard boiled eggs, waffle, bagels, etc. Wells Beach was about a 5-minute drive and was so easy to get to. We would go to the beach around 6pm and parking was free and easy. The hotel was a bit pricey, got it at a discount online. The only negative thing was, phone reception was horrible from our room and I had to pay for internet service. Would definitely come back. read more

Full service, clean, functionable hotel in Wells. Just a trolley ride or shuttle to area beaches including Footbridge, Wells, and Ogunquit. Staff is friendly and the rooms are spacious and up to date. Comfy beds, big bathrooms and nice decor definitely make for a pleasant stay. For just a few dollars more, we upgraded to a studio suite which was a bit bigger and included a microwave, fridge and bar sink - definitely recommend if you have others staying with you or are looking for a little more space that your average hotel room. The hotel has an indoor pool and fitness center, which is small - only about three pieces of equipment in total. The biggest perk here is they offer free breakfast everyday. And it's not your average continental breakfast; we're talking bagels, eggs, waffle stations, fresh fruit, yogurt and fresh muffins! read more

We called the reservation desk, were told the 2nd floor was being renovated, would we like a newly refurbished 3rd floor room. Of course! We took a suite with a king bed. Immaculate! The fridge was such a convenience. Tons of outlets. Comfy bed, linens & pillows. More than bountiful (free!) breakfast. Housekeeping, front desk staffed by cheerful people. Amazing place! A little more than what we initially wanted to pay BUT sooooo worth it! Clean doesn't even start to describe it. Yes, all the usual for good clean places to stay...but well beyond that! Even pillows and bedspreads are also laundered after each guest's stay! The rooms are huge and comfortable. There's ample room for storage. The bathroom is huge and really nice. There's a large, stylish desk to work at if you need to do that sort of thing. Internet speed is faster than usual for this area for the free option. No need to pay for faster...and this from a pretty needy internet speed hog! The complementary coffee in the lobby rocks! We're pretty much coffee snobs. To repeat, it ROCKS! The staff are friendly and very helpful...smiling and welcoming. The 'breakfast room' is fancier than most hotel grand ballrooms. And, plenty of seating options with lots of power outlets if you wanna crash there during the day to work. Overstuffed easy chairs, included, and this long, granite table with gorgeous lights hanging above...oh, yeah...and more power outlets in the table. This place has been well thought out and designed around every traveler's needs. The gym is better than most in these types of places and the pool is large and really nice. We didn't get a chance to use these but did bother to walk by to check them out. We were just passing through Wells on our way home and needed a place to catch a few Zs. We were actually sad not to be staying longer...even spent some energy to work up a story as to why we needed to stay longer. My friends booked 2 rooms here a month ago for a motorcycle trip from RI. An hour before check in time and about 30 miles away we get a call saying there was a glitch and we had no rooms!!!!!. Wtf?!? While they found 2 rooms elsewhere (30 minutes away from our destination), they did nothing else to help our situation. I will never stay here ever again. read more

A chain hotel on the Maine coast is unusual. I appreciate the consistency of the Hampton Inns. Clean, spacious with amazingly friendly, accommodating staff. We were traveling in a group. The front desk put us in great rooms across from each other. We had special requests for blankets and hypo-allergenic pillows, which were met promptly. The breakfasts were standard pre-fab, but adequate and the hostess, Sandy, was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again! read more

We always stay at this hotel when we go to Maine. While it's very comfortable, clean and convenient, this last visit left a little sour taste in my mouth. We reserved a suite style room, one that has a sitting area. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a very friendly staff Donna who checked us in and gave us our keys and charged us for the room we had booked, the suite. When we got to our room, it did not have the sitting area and was a handicap access room. I called and told her we were given the wrong room, she put me on hold and asked if she could call me back. I went down to the front desk. Stephanie the hotel manager was working on finding us another room. I asked why there was this problem. She said they had more requests for suites and where we only had 2 people she put us in the room without the sofa, although she was charging us for the room with the sofa. I told her I reserved a sofa room and confirmed it just the day before. She held no regard for my reservation and stated that they had to move people around according to how many people in the room. I then asked if her if that were the case why didn't they at least inform me of this, instead of just sending me to the wrong room. After 20 minutes of aggravation and having to change rooms we finally settled in our room that we had reserved and paid for. Note to others, be clear with what you are expecting. read more
