Then came covid in 2020 and I stopped dancing entirely up until 2024 where I had to start over again and luckily I found Hermosura Dance Productions (HDP). I've been taking bachata classes at HDP for about 6-7 months now and I must say that Helen is a fantastic teacher! She focuses on building a strong foundation to make you a better dancer which other schools just don't teach which I wish I had engrained in me when I first started dancing. On top of the fundamentals, Helen teaches nice patterns that allow you to dance with people of different levels (as a leader, this has been great!). She also provides constructive feedback during class to help you improve your dancing as well as understand how it is danced (e.g. in bachata you are pushing the floor with your feet). I highly recommend going to HDP for classes or tailored lessons, depending on your needs. Helen teaches many styles of dance from salsa on 1 (and on 2), cumbia, bachata, and rueda. Even if you've never danced before, you will be welcomed to class as if you were a regular so don't be afraid to sign up for your first class!

Her skills of observation are on another level (truly, come see for yourself!) and her instruction is accessible to anyone, new or seasoned. Group classes are safe and supportive spaces where all are welcome; I always leave feeling inspired to continue learning, excited for what we'll do in the next class. Even transitioning to Intermediate/Advanced (you can take Beginner and Int./Adv. together, I just preferred to master the basics first), I didn't feel out of place for a minute. Sunday class is with Delilah but today was Desiree who is subbing and teaches at the Niles location...darn! For my first class Desiree made it really fun and energized even though it's a Sunday morning so it felt like I got some morning caffeine. Drop in class @ $10 a session and will probably get multiple sessions as it's cheaper. I think this will be my new weekend class as traffic isn't bad and great way to start the day! Now if the weather would just cooperate this week and cool down!

I'm at about 9 years now and just reached my 1,000 class this month. I feel like it says a lot to be able to stay at a fitness place for this long and still love it. One thing I will say is that since my last review I did have major surgery and had to pause my workouts, but during recovery, I noticed how much going to barre had helped me. Having no upper body movement would've been tougher if it wasn't for my strength I gained from The Bar Method.

where do i start?? i…read morestarted taking classes august 2023 when i was about 6 months postpartum. after giving birth, my body went through a lot. had to go on blood pressure medication, limbs felt like jello, struggled walking up the stairs... all while also taking care of a new baby my main fitness goal was to just be healthier and strong enough to grow with my daughter. after 3 years of taking classes at least 3-4x a week, i'm not just off the medication (woohoo ) but my body is the most TONED and FLEXIBLE it's ever been! lol and the community here is EVERYTHING this is such a safe, welcoming place with people of all ages and bodies of all sizes. so many modification options! and the instructors are so well educated and trained, even in the way they learn everyone's names! lol barre is such a great full body workout & bar method fremont is the best place to do it! ‍

I started by participating in their Spring Showcase and it was SO worth it! I love how you have 2 months of rehearsal with the same group before performing on a stage for all your family and friends! The support from teachers and fellow students was overwhelmingly positive. I will definitely be performing in future showcases. I haven't taken many drop-in classes but the ones that I have are always thorough and a great workout. The prices are a little higher compared to other studios but I rationalize it with the experience that these teachers bring. Also love the class bundle options that let you really work on a piece for a few weeks before professional(!!) filming. My showcase rehearsals ran from 8-10 PM and I never felt unsafe walking back to my car. Plenty of street parking along the roads and someone from class was always willing to walk with me. The building can be a bit confusing the first time since the studios are not connected by a hallway but just ask around and you will find your way.

Amazing humble talent and everyone is a hype squad for each other. $20-$25 for TWO hours! The studio has a cool backdrop wall + lighting + videographer (who may or may not take forever to edit and post the videos)! It can be pretty packed so no going full out until you split into groups. I wish the location wasn't so sketchy. It's just a brick building in a semi industrial area. Street parking with some seemingly worn abandoned cars. Easy to miss the studio if you're not intentionally looking for it. Because they rent the space per dance slot, there is no lobby or main entrance. You can wait in your car or right outside the classroom. I was early and felt a little iffy even in broad daylight. I only knew this cos a friend told me in advance - you have to show your confirmation email or text to enter. They should write that somewhere in the confirmation. I like that the teachers will post what songs they're doing in advance, prior to sign-ups, and will likely come back upon occasion.

My daughter is usually very shy, but Miss Mariah was somehow able to get my daughter out of her shell and be confident as ever while she's dancing! Most other place have a makeup policy specially for toddlers. This place offers none unless they need to reschedule. We signed up for recital shows and it's just money drain with you paying for poorly fitting costumes to buying tickets even for performances. In a 45 min class they spend 5 mins over recital performance with no repeat in the same session so kids can pick up the steps.

The classes range in size in any given week - but generally there's plenty of space for everyone. I've seen people bring their friends, partners, coworkers, etc to class - it's a fun time for all! Margela and Mappy are great at making people feel comfortable, as are the other instructors, and there's a variety of routines and styles. If you've always wanted to try dancing but having doubts, look no further. The studio shares space with other classes, including step and martial arts, so it's generally very lively in the evenings. You can choose to drop in or sign up for a regular weekly class (or two) - there's a slight discount if you do more than one class a week.
