I was staying at The Welk and this is their "on site" spa when really it is a third-party who rents a building on their property. The Welk does not provide bathrobes - for the pools or for spa use. As another reviewer mentioned, no one is at the reception desk, you can't just stop by if staying on property, and there are no online bookings, so you have to call and it is routed to a therapist's personal phone. Ok, third party, I get it, all can be forgiven if my actual experience/massage is good. I arrived about five minutes early to my appt. to find the door was locked even though it was after opening hours posted, that is when I figured out it is because there is no one working at reception, so had to wait for my therapist to see me standing there and let me in. Spa has no amenities, no locker room, no bath robes, slippers, showers, whirlpools, saunas, sun loungers, pool, etc. The Welk should really build out next to their existing such facilities down by the gym building to make it a full spa experience. So be prepared: it is in and out, put your own clothes/shoes back on after being all oiled up. Facility was nice inside, you fill out an in take form and then your therapist reviews it with you, what kind of pressure you want, any areas to focus on, all in the relaxation room, all pretty standard, so I still had high hopes. Nope! I asked for deep tissue and also had the hot stone "special" and really feel she just used the stones to spread oil on me, used the flat side, not the stone edge to make it firm pressure. I don't remember my therapist's name unfortunately. They do charge your credit card morning of, so no check out experience besides leaving a tip. Such an amazing experience! The place is lovely, the rooms and ambience are beautiful. Me and my hubby found this while staying at the Welk resort and this was probably the best thing we did probably. We have done couple massage massages at different spas in the past and this is probably one of the better priced places we've been to, we had a couples massage - my husband had Amy and I had Kimberly. Both were very sweet!! Amy was super funny and got along very well with my comedic husband and was very sweet! Kimberly was also the best! she was so sweet, and made sure to take time to hit the points that I had the most stress and stiffness/pain. We definitely left feeling like 2 new whole people, the stress and relief that left was priceless- if you are in the area def recommend booking a massage and getting either one of these lovely ladies! read more

I had an amazing experience with Kate for a deep tissue massage! She was kind, attentive, and really took the time to understand what my body needed. She worked on my trigger points and released a lot of tension in my muscles -- I felt so much better afterward. Times like these, you need to treat yourself to this massage (75 min with complimentary hot stone). We did a couples massage. Very personal and customized. Request Amy and Monique. Amazing women and very good at being flexible to your needs with their questionnaire form. Their packages are great. I believe with 75min and 90 min you can have hot stone or reflexology. That is already attached to your time choice. If less than 75 min or 90, it does not come with it. Monique had really soft hands and a firm touch. I asked for firm massage. She adjusted as needed and worked the hot stones all over. I fought myself to not fall asleep so I could enjoy it all. but she just has that much of a relaxing touch. The welcome, intake, and introductions to services were very engaging. Potential problem areas were addressed with attention and recommendations that helped. The staff this day, consisting of Karen, Amy, and Kimberly, provided calm, effective guidance. Wifey and I received a couples experience; however, there was not much conversation as we each basked in the care and instruction of our respective professionals. I called last minute today for a massage. They got me in right away. Amy was my massage therapist and she was amazing. Seriously amazing. I can tell she has years of experience. As a person who gets massages all over the world and is very picky I am so happy they gave me Amy. I don't do reviews a lot. But the spa is nice and relaxing. No outside noise. Excellent deep tissue massage by Eileen! Problem areas were verbally discussed, and addressed during the massage. Each one with such attention to getting the kinks out. Complimentary hot stone massage was a welcome addition to the 90 minute massage. Eileen is an excellent masseuse who kept the deep pressure up for the entire massage. I walked in feeling like a creaky, knotty ball of stress, and floated out of there. I also was offered flavored water after the massage. I'm being generous with two stars instead of one, and it's because when my appointment was finally straightened out after a stressful experience of unproductive phone tag, last minute incorrect email confirmation, insufficient responses from the spa, and GPS being completely wrong, the facial was quite good. First of all just be aware that you can never call anyone at the spa desk, because there is no one at the spa desk. The resort confirmed the same and said that they transfer all the incoming calls from the front desk to the practitioner's cell phone. If that person is in a therapy session, you're not getting through. They don't return calls right away either, so when my appointment was messed up (booked for one person instead of two) I couldn't easily straighten it out. They also email-confirmed the morning of the appointment, so no time to contact anyone at all. So not off to a good start, and made worse by the fact that they won't update their google page to tell people what the address is. The address for the business puts you in front of a bunch of villas on the other side of the resort. This is really inexcusable, for any business, let alone a high end resort and spa. I had to ask a guy in a golf cart to escort me to the spa, then drop a location pin so my daughter in law could find it. I mean this is just ludicrous. Unfortunately, things got worse. The spa booked me in with who I'm assuming is a backup massage therapist who gave a mediocre massage. No where near the price tag I paid for two massages and two facials, $540. Let me reiterate, NO WHERE NEAR worth that price. The massage therapist used the cheapest oil that they could put their hands on (grapeseed) for my session, and used a scant amount so there was a lot of pulling on my skin. There were no essential oils added, and she actually got fatigued during the massage, probably because it had to be last-minute booked, so she did portions where she was sitting on a stool barely touching my feet, and again sitting, and barely touching my shoulders and neck, which I specified was a problem muscular area. For what it's worth my neck still hurts, which sucks. I didn't go there to get some grapeseed oil lightly rubbed onto my feet, back, and neck. So yeah, almost $600 down the drain due to mediocre massage, zero response from the spa manager, spa not answering phone calls, spa not answering messages, me not being able to talk to anyone to confirm, not being able to find it in the first place, and the front desk at the Welk being helpless over the situation. Worst $540 I've ever spent. Worst massage I ever had, other than the one where I couldn't walk the next day. That one was worse. So second worse I guess. The facial was good, so two stars. Hopefully someone sees this and they can get their act together. read more

Took my mom here for her 70th birthday! Her massage therapist Gina was very sweet and understanding as my mother explained exactly how she liked her massage and where to focus. She then got a facial with Karen who had her coming out glowing. She absolutely loved it and hasn't stopped talking about her experience. Would highly recommend the facial/massage combo for anyone looking for birthday gift or just to have a rejuvenating day. read more

This day spa is located on the Welk Resort property. It offers the typical massage options ie. hot stones, exfoliating scrub & foot reflexology. The spa is closed & is by appointment only. They were very accommodating to fit me in with less than an hours notice so I could mirror my husbands golf round. I wouldn't compare it to the Luxury of a VeGaS type spa but they got the job done. Booking an appointment was a bit of a hassle. There's something to be said about receptionists (and/or a human being that actually answers the phone). I felt the owner should not return a call if she is going to make the client feel rushed during the conversation due to an upcoming appointment, as she did with me. The spa itself is lovely - clean and peaceful. The masseuse was pleasant (talks a bit too much but perhaps I encouraged her), and the massage was mediocre at best. I was disappointed. If you choose the "free" sugar foot scrub with a 90-minute massage, it will basically reduce the 90-minute massage time; I would have done without it had I known that. There's also valuable time spent gathering product for this during the 90-minutes. If buying a gift certificate for someone, don't think you are doing them a favor by including the gratuity amount as my giver did. I received a $200 gift certificate. The intention was I could get a 90-minute massage for $170 and the remainder could be used for gratuity. This was not allowed but nowhere on the gift certificate does it state that. Bello Vita Spa requires cash tips, so now the additional $30 was paid to the spa owner for nothing. I was told I could use the $30 for hot stones, but as with the foot scrub this would not technically be an 'additional' service rather it takes away from the massage time. As I waiting in the lobby, I overheard the woman who received a massage before me being overcharged by $5 because the masseuse didn't know how much the 90-minute massages were. I found this odd. Surely it's not too difficult to have a price chart behind the counter. I didn't have the guts to speak up for fear of embarrassing/upsetting her and not receiving a good massage, but I regret not doing so and should have. I was not given the opportunity to rest after the massage. The feeling at the end of my massage was 'okay thank you now get dressed and out you go'. I did not feel relaxed afterward. It was a long drive for me so I wished I would have just stayed home. Imagine how disappointed I would feel if I actually paid for the service myself. read more

Great massage experience with Monique! After hearing about my target areas and assessing my body, she knew exactly what to do and what techniques to use to get my muscles to relax. I've had chronic tension in my hip and glute areas for years and she managed to work it out in one 90-minute session. The experience I had at Bello Vita Spa was the highlight of my staycation at Welk Resort this past week. I live in San Diego and will definitely be coming back often! The spa itself is stylish, calm and welcoming. I was offered a nice glass of iced lemon water when I arrived and relaxed in a lounging room before my appointment. Monique was ready for me before my scheduled time which was great because I originally scheduled a 75 min appt, because I couldn't fit a 90 min appt into my schedule. Monique listened to my spefic needs and preferences and was kind and professional. The hot stone massage was exactly what I needed, although I had never had one before. She combined this with the best neck massage I've ever had! I've been suffering from injuries from a car accident for years and Monique was able to make me feel new again! Very nice atmosphere and very friendly staff, however the massage was super rushed. I've had many massages in the city I live in and on many cruises. In comparison this was the fastest paced massage I've ever had. It didn't make me feel relaxed at all. My masseuse did hit some spots that felt good and relieved some tension it just would have been nice to have it feel more relaxed instead of feel rushed. read more

I'm am an avid spa goer and was underwhelmed. The people are really nice so it pains me to write this, but if you are looking for a great spa experience - this ain't it. I would have liked the opportunity to shower either post or pre (preferred) massage treatment. That was not offered or available. The massage itself was a C...on an A-F grading scale. They were very communicative which was nice and were able to accommodate me relatively easily and those are definitely positives but overall the experience was really just meh...it was also pretty clean. read more
