Rode back and was told it's due to tire wall. Will NEVER suggest nor return. Did not have tires replaced, per inquiry from friends asking why price so high for cheap bike, thankfully there are PLENTY of side hustlers that do great, quick fixes on inexpensive bikes. I just needed a screw for the attachment of a toddler bike seat to the rear wheel hub. The person I met with told me it was labor intensive and i'd have to leave my bike overnight. I'm not the handiest person, but that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Instead i went to Taylors, got the 30cent screw, and they lent me a screwdriver to fix the seat. read more

Called to ask if they could put together a bike for me and they told me drop it off and they would put together in a few days.Asked if I needed an appointment and what the procedure was and was told no appt necessary never mentioned you can only drop off bike between 11-1(My son was able take time off and attempted to drop it off in the afternoon but was told they only accept bikes from 11-1(even though there was not one customer in the store and several employees sitting around reading magazines) I called the store while my son was still there to explain I had a knee replacement and the bike was needed as part of my rehab and my son had taken time off to help me. I'm sure they're a fine bike shop. Looked legitimate to me. However, they refused to do a repair on my bike without leaving it for at least a day. I do not live in the area, so this wasn't an option for me, and I was effectively stranded. I explained this to them, but they still turned me away and I had to drag my bike 3 miles to Asbury Park, where the shop there easily did my repair immediately. I don't know what this says about this shop, but the fact that they couldn't do an emergency repair was disappointing, and I would go to Asbury Park in the future if I ever lived in the area and needed a repair. read more

My signo had bought a bicycle from them several years ago and has always been happy with their quality and service when she would bring it in for tune-ups or cleanings. We recently bought a summer home in Belmar and decided to buy a couple bikes for when we have guests staying with us. Just had my 1990's Giant Carbon Fiber cleaned and all work done that was needed. I would tell you what they charged, but I would not want other shops in the area to be jealous. Was on a long ride today. Noticed rear tire was low so I stopped and added some air. Oddly the nib thing on my rear valve popped off. So now I need to replace the tube because you can't add air. Belmar Bike shop is a few blocks away. I walk in to an empty store. 4 workers in black t shirts standing around counter. The senior looking guy asks if he can help me. I explain the situation. He says that I need to leave the bike. I explain I am in the middle of the ride and it would be a huge favor if they could just quickly change it for me. I know it would take them 5-10 minutes. He says "NO, there is a pecking order". I get it. If I have flats I need repaired I will generally drop the bikes off and return a week later. But this was me in the middle of the ride, 4 guys standing around talking. Not one other customer in the store. Anyway, I have four sons who have and will need new hikes. I went in to the bike shop during the mid summer of 2019 and from the second I walked into the door the place just gave me bad vibes. As I walked in and there was a man I'm not sure if he worked there or not with a high pitched voice and covered in tattoos (not that that matters I also have many tattoos) short shorts glasses a shop hat and a sleeveless shirt I kid you not yelling about sucking d*** he was obviously joking around but still man what if i walked in there with my kid, not very professional. I started looking around as I was looking to purchase a nice beach cruiser I saw a guy with glasses and the shop hat on and I asked him if I could check out a bike. He responded and asked me what type of bike I responded sayIng a beach cruiser. The man let out a sort of huff and said that's not me man and walked over to a different worked and said "help the this guy look for a cruiser I don't have time for this sh*t" I later found out that was the owner! the other worker came over and he was very polite and cool and seemeed very informed I think his name was Cody. Although he was very professional the taste left in my mouth from the other two made me not want to shell out 500 towards their shop. I ended up getting the same bike from Brielle bike a shop and they were very professional and courteous for the exact price. My tire blew out 2 blocks from the store. The bike shop was open but refused to take the 10 minutes to fix my tire even though I was told them I was more than 5 miles from my car. I called a different bike shop and the person there agreed to wait for me to fix my tire even though they were closed. I had to walk my bike for over 2 miles until I got a friend to pick me up. I got talking to Kyle at a demo day at Allaire, and I liked his attitude. I wanted a better mountain bike and felt Belmar Bike Shop was the place to go. I was ripped off for the second and last time by this business. It's very blatant due to their location that they have the privilege of taking advantage of out of towners and I was part of that system. I've been going to Glendola Bicycles in Wall on Belmar Blvd. for about 8 years since I first got scammed here. Glendola was closed when I blew out my rear tire and they [Belmar Bike Shop]told me because my fat tire style it would be $120 and ready the next day, Friday, at noon (I was willing to take the hit because it was time sensitive) . Came in the next day and they didn't even have the tire and told me Tuesday now. Didn't get the call till Tuesday night right before they close it was ready. Go in the next day and now it's $150 and when I ask if they have law enforcement or firefighter discount he just laughs at me. Do yourselves a favor and go to Glendola, they told me that would have been $50-60 for me and at least they have that small business non pompous attitude. read more

Just purchased my first mountain bike in about 20 plus years. These guys are excellent they take there time to explain everything about the bikes. Just to let you know this was my third trip in three weeks to the shop they told me to take my time think about what I wanted there was no pressure to make a purchase at all, they could've easily just sold me anything just to make a sale. But they didn't they went above and beyond and answered all my questions let me test the bikes. Fitted me on the bike to make sure it was sized correctly adjusted the air pressure In the forks set the proper air pressure in the tires even. I would recommend this shop to anyone who needs a bike or anything bike related. I drove over an hour 3 times. These guys are great. read more

I am 0-2 with buying bikes from these guys. Both times I have had issues and have found them to be difficult to deal or unresponsive with the resolution. Absolutely the worst customer service I ever experienced by a business - right from the owner. I bought a bike with all kinds of accessories last year, not the most friendly service, but they had the bike I wanted.. Last week I bought a tube and when I installed it, the tube popped. I brought it back, hoping to get a replacement, but the owner said I installed it wrong. We discussed it and I finally said the hassle wasn't worth the $12. I offered to buy a new tube and show him how I installed the tube. I was hoping that he could tell me what I did wrong. His response: "I want no part of it." BEST BIKE SHOP! I bought bikes here for my wife, 2 kids and myself. The sales person Richie, was more than patient with my kids and was actually able to get them interested in riding. He spent time with us explaining fit and what different bikes can be used for. There is alot of info out there and he made it easy to understand. DO NOT GO HERE! I am permanently disabled and need to use a wheelchair, and brought my wheels to this shop. I asked them to true my wheels, change the handrims, and replace any bent spokes. First they forgot to put on the rubber protectors that stop the wheels from cutting my hands. I then try and use my wheelchair, and after only 5 mins of wheeling one of the spokes falls out! I called to complain and got nothing but attitude. They did not true my wheels AT ALL and also DID NOT CHANGE ANY SPOKES!!! And to top it off, they charged me TRIPLE what I would normally pay for the same amount of work. If you use a wheelchair or a bike DO NOT EVER GO HERE! They have no clue what they are doing! I actually am signing up for Yelp just so I can warn people against this bike shop. read more
