On top of that, my bike was returned with a slashed strap that was not damaged when I dropped it off. When I raised my concerns, instead of a professional response I got verbal abuse from the staff. That's not how you treat a paying customer. I've documented the damage and kept my receipt. I'm currently pursuing a refund, and if the shop doesn't make this right I'm prepared to dispute the charge and take it to small claims court. I'd caution anyone considering this shop to think twice. Paying for work that wasn't done, getting your property damaged, and being treated with hostility is not acceptable.

We knew we trusted him and wanted this place to be where we go to get every bike our family will own for the rest of our lives within 5 minutes of meeting him. He is genuine, will not mislead you, very knowledgeable, not judgmental on how little baseline bicycle knowledge I have, supportive, patient with kids, appears to be a great teacher (teaches kids and adults how to ride a bike), and takes immense pride in all things related to bikes- which is exactly what you want from whoever you purchase your bike from. He is great with kids and both my sons were excited to not only be in his shop but to start zooming down the streets of Manasquan on their bikes as soon as possible- neither one of them know how to ride a bike yet. Tyler also helped adjust the seat for my son's Strider bike so it fits my younger son to use. We purchased a bike rack to attach to the car and they helped teach us how to install it and offered for us to return anytime we needed help with any of the equipment we purchased. Needless to say, we are lifelong customers.

Can't complain about that! There's plenty of street parking right in front of the boardwalk as well as residential parking nearby. Since I visited after the summer season ended, I had no problem finding a spot at 12pm. If you're going during the season, I would suggest coming much earlier if you want to get a good spot closer to the beach. During the summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), beach badges are required from 9am-5pm on weekdays and 9am-5:30pm on weekends/holidays. It's $13 per person. Children ages 11 and under + active military and their dependents are free of charge. They don't accept credit/debit cards, so remember to bring CASH. The beach is beautiful - clear, blue water and clean, soft sand. The crowd is more mature and family-oriented. They do have a lot of rules (no alcohol/smoking/cannabis/canopies/tents/sound systems), but I don't mind. It's not rowdy here, so you'll have a peaceful experience. There are bathrooms, a playground area for children, and a boardwalk. The boardwalk is small, but charming. There are benches for you to sit, relax, and enjoy the ocean view. There aren't many restaurants, bars, games, or entertainment around. They have a snack/food pavilion, but I'd suggest driving a few miles away to Asbury Park or Long Branch for a better dining and night life scene. Seeeeee yaaaaaaaa at the shore!

Yes, it's spring-fed and chemical-free, which gives it more of a forest pond feel than a traditional pool. That might be a plus for some people, but there are downsides. The water feels heavier than a normal pool, and there's no true shallow end--so treading water for long stretches can get tiring. If you go, I'd honestly recommend bringing a float to hang out more comfortably in the water. The facilities are basic. There are very few pool chairs--mostly just park benches scattered around a small paved deck. Seating is limited, and it was hard to find a place to set up. I'd recommend bringing your own beach chair if you have one. There are plenty of picnic tables farther back from the pool, which I assume is their way of keeping food out of the swim area. We arrived around 3 PM and that timing was probably my biggest gripe. The parking lot was full, so we had to find a random lot down the road and then walk back and hunt for the entrance. Not the easiest arrival. The $20 day pass would be fine if the setup matched the price, but for what it is, it felt a little steep. Also worth noting--cell service is spotty, and while they say there's Wi-Fi, it didn't work well for us. Overall, it's not a bad experience, but it didn't quite live up to the online buzz. If you go in with the right expectations (and a float, a chair, and some patience), you'll probably enjoy it more than we did.

MIXED THOUGHTS ---------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Arrived at around 10:30 AM on an August Saturday and it was already pretty busy. Parking spaces were still available, but they filled up VERY fast after we arrived. = Most of the beachgoers were set up where the swimming areas were. In the non-swimming areas, it was pretty empty actually, so if you want to be left alone, that's your spot. = On Park Pl Ave, there was a food truck that sold typical truck foods (burgers, hot dogs) at very reasonable prices. The Belmar Bike Shop is great place. I had reason to visit three times during a recent family vacation. Went there to purchase new brakes and tires for my daughter's "new" vintage bike. The staff greeted us and took the bike immediately to the bike stand - he informed me that the bike just needed to be ridden to sort out the brakes and the tires were fine for a few more seasons. No charge for the inspection. We wound up buying a bike rack which they installed immediately while we waited a few minutes. My daughter was really happy! My son's bike needed some repair so I brought his bike in the same day. Same exceptional service and competent repair. My son could not be happier! Lastly, I needed to do some laundry across the street from the bike shop and despite the fact that the lady there was sorting a large stack of dollar bills, she could not break a five for the coin machine. I walked across the street to the bike shop and was met with the same courteous greeting and service. They did not have to stop what they were doing to help me with my dollar bill dilemma, but they did anyway. I will be a customer of the Belmar Bike Shop anytime I need a repair or purchase. read more
