I have been a patient at Belmar Smiles for a while now. They have had some changes over that time with different staff and dentists etc. I recently had some fairly significant dental work done with Dr Li and I cannot express how caring and attentive he has been. It is an ongoing process to fix what I had wrong but he has always been willing to answer questions and help me along the way. Even going as far as personally answering the after hours phone when I had an issue after an extraction procedure after they closed. I have been very impressed with the care at this location and would recommend anyone who like me may have some apprehension about the dentist to give them a call. I have had everything from routine cleanings to major extractions and have been very pleased every time. I had my first appointment here 6 mos ago, when covid was peaking. At the time, I accepted that my teeth would have to be hand scraped to limit the spread of water particles from peoples' mouthes. It was the most unpleasant experience I've had in a dental chair in my entire life, but I accepted it. I was called to confirm my second cleaning, let them know I was vaccinated, and asked if they would be able to use a water instrument this time for me. The extremely rude dental hygienist I was transferred to speak with told me they absolutely would not accommodate this and that I would not find another dentist who would accommodate it... except the first place I called said they absolutely could help, and that they were not hand scraping for anyone anymore!!!! Dr. VerSchave does five-star dental work and I've always left the office feeling great as well. However, be sure to update your information if you change addresses. I changed my address and the office staff failed to adequately update the address on file. Ultimately, the office staff mailed a bill to my old address and I did not receive any notices for payment. The office never contacted me directly about the bill and proceeded to submit my bill to a local collections agency. Great performance, but poor patient communication and billing systems in place. read more

I really liked the dentist here and would have continued as a patient if they had accepted my new insurance. I seem to remember something wonky happening with billing too. They sent me an invoice for services even though I had full coverage and I ended up paying something out of pocket because they weren't a tier 1 provider... Maybe my fault for not double checking with my insurance but I feel like a good office manager would have let me know about this before services were rendered. Overall no complaints though aside from billing issues. Just do your research before coming here. Damn Belmar, that's 3 dentists down and not one is great. For shame! read more

Dr VerScahve is incredible. I had a horrendous experience at the last dentist I went to (I left in tears) and I was very apprehensive about going in. I was very vocal and blur about being nervous to be there and the entire staff, from the front desk to the treatment room helped to calm my nerves. I have been going to see Dr VerSchave for two years now and every time I go in its a positive experience. The whole office is friendly and asks how I'm doing when I come in, I genuinely feel welcomed. I had a few fillings to have done (I was putting it off for as long as I could) and I am so glad I waited until I was going here! She takes her time, makes sure I'm in absolutely no pain (she gives me the shot and let's me wait as long as I need to feel completely numb), then starts the work. She did two fillings in about 15 minutes... Which is fantastic, because who wants it to take forever?! My husband is the one who recommended I go to Belmar Smiles after telling about my horror story, and now my mom goes there after my recommendation. I was assured by Belmar Smiles that they were accepted by my insurance as a provider, and that both my and my boyfriend's exam would be covered (we have the same carrier). We showed the Belmar Smiles associate our cards with the carrier name and our information to confirm we were good to go, we were assured we were, and our information was put into the system. However after our appointments we received letters from Belmar Smiles telling us that we weren't even members of our insurance carrier (which freaked us out, because we knew we were), along with a large bill for services. We were then contacted by our Dental Insurance carrier - which we were members of - to let us know that Belmar Smiles was not an approved provider and that the services were not covered by our insurance. So we ended up having to pay the full large bill for something that would have been 100% free elsewhere, despite me strongly confirming that we were indeed covered. I would like to note, the dentist was absolutely wonderful, but there was a huge lack of due diligence by a member of the front staff. read more

It was my first time attending the dentist after a year. I despise the dentist whenever I have had to go for my check-up. However, I really liked Belmar Smiles! It did not look like a dentist office when I arrived; I thought Kelsey, who did my routine check/clean up did a great job. I loved her energy and she made sure I was okay throughout the process. The doctor did a great job at explaining the x-rays to me and making sure that I understood everything. Staff was friendly as well. I am giving it a 4 out of 5. I simply went in for what was suppose to be a FREE CONSULTATION, I left the appointment which took an all of TEN MINUTES and I never once thought of this dentist again...UNTIL TWO MONTHS LATER when I get a bill for nearly $300!! This dentist was recommended to me to go for a consult regarding my 84 year old mother and the potential needs for a root canal. I was so impressed with how friendly the staff was and Dr. Schmidt's kind bedside manner towards my mother! She took the time to thoroughly assess the situation; and in so doing noticed something probably even more concerning for my mother! All this was done free of charge, and she sent the records of her consult directly to my mother's dentist in Littleton. It is hard to find an ethical dentist these days, and she is top notch! I went to Belmar Smiles about 2 weeks ago. I was worried when I saw the not so great reviews online, but I was pleasantly surprised when I went in! I called on a Friday and they were able to get me right in. Even as I was running a few minutes late, I was greeted with a desk full of friendly people. Megan, the dental assistant, was awesome. Super friendly and seemed very knowledgable. And the Dentist was great too. I knew they were running over time on a Friday afternoon, but I didn't feel rushed at all. I have not gotten the bill from the insurance company yet, so I can't say much about the payment part.. So thats the only reason for 4 stars. Ever since moving to Denver 2 years go, my husband and I have been going to Belmar Smiles for our dental needs. Our visits have been nothing but positive. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment and I'm always greeted by friendly faces. The receptionist even calls me by my name! I have gotten my teeth cleaned 2X a year for the past 20 years and I can say with certainty that Belmar Smiles really takes their time with my appointment. I've been burned before by other doctor visits and I've learned to be proactive about treatments and services. I have been going to Belmar Smiles for semi-annual regular cleanings since 2009. I've never had any issues with insurance or over-billing, and I've had two different dental insurances the past few years. The office is clean and comfortable, and there isn't very much turnover with their dental hygienists, which I really like - It's a sign that their employees are treated well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I started going to this dentist about a year or so after I moved here from KS. I was never crazy about the dentist in KS because I always left in pain, so of course I was nervous for a new dentist. But Belmar Smiles changed that very quickly for me! I was VERY nervous going in for my first consultation and they were all so wonderful to me! They made me feel so comfortable and never pushed my pain tolerance. After my consultation I had to have I believe 7 cavities filled which, again, I was VERY nervous about. They discussed all my options with me on the shots and gas. I ended up taking a Xanax and went for the shots, got all my cavities filled in one sitting, and went home very happy that night!
