In college, I had some nasty experiences with the Dentist. So it's no wonder I went almost 10 years without making it in for a check up. I was terrified. Finally I decided that I need to make a wise decision on behalf of my oral health and get the dreaded list of things I surely needed done to my mouth. Long story short, I ran into Dr. Greenhalgh and yes, there were things going on in my mouth that were becoming sort of a ticking time-bomb to some real potential medical nightmares. I'm happy to say that I am one-by-one, taking care of everything with the goal of having a perfect bill of health in my mouth. That feels great, but let me tell you about my dental experience. Please keep in mind, I am a TOTAL WEENIE in the dentist chair (but not in everyday life, of course). I just had a long procedure done to my mouth. They numbed me up, I wore headphones and watched my favorite show, "Man vs. Food" on the TV while they did their thing. NOT ONCE did I have to get their attention, not a single "OW, STOP!" moment. In fact, there were about 3-4 occasions where I nodded off. No, I was not on any sleeping drugs. I was just relaxed! I was more worried about snoring, than I was about pain. Later that night, I was eating Thai food with my woman, and the next day I had a long day at work, but never even thought about my teeth. I felt fine! I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say about this dental practice. Dr. Greenhalgh is very cool and cares about my mouth - I know his goal is to get my mouth into perfect health. My previous dentist would jam floss into my gums so hard and then lecture me if I would bleed. I remember feeling really ashamed. But Dr. Greenhalgh, as he still encouraged me to floss more, approached me like a human. I never felt embarrassed or ashamed, but I am motivated to do all the right things as far as brushing, flossing and going in regularly for my cleanings. He's great! I won't go to another dentist. From the moment I stepped in and was greeted by Donna, I knew I'd love this place. The office itself looks gorgeous, with a large fish tank in the center. The dental assistant, Mary Ann, was amazingly friendly and good at what she did. I also adore the dental hygienist. She ensured there was no discomfort and, when she talked, she stopped working on my teeth so I could respond, no mumbled, barely coherent speech on my end! The dentist was also very nice. He asked if I had any questions, ensured I understood everything and was very friendly. Oh, and let's not forget the complementary wax treatment for your hands. Makes your hands feel great! My husband also went to them before me to get a second opinion from the last dentist we went to because they told him he needed *15* crowns. When we went to this Dentist, they said that was excessive and most could be taken care of with fillings, while the others can slowly be done over time. We were very happy to hear that because we couldn't afford 15 crowns! I definitely recommend this dentist! read more

Dr. Greenhalgh's office is very comfortable, warm and inviting, and so is the demeanor of the doctor as well as his hygienists. I had a very good experience when I went there to get a cleaning. The hygienists are extremely professional, humorous and charming. Greenhalgh, although overly expressive, gesticulative with his hands (which is really just an idiosyncracy of his, not a negative), is also a very kind person. His scheduling and retention staff are also very welcoming and they don't make you wait if you show up five minutes ahead of time. All the other standard dental amenities are present, comfortable chairs, clean office, etc. These are all big plusses for a dentist. The problem that I have with this practice, which is a problem I'm still battling is that I went there for a routine cleaning with current dental insurance, and they coded my cleaning as something other than a cleaning. It was not explained to me prior to the cleaning that it would be coding as a procedure that would not be covered by my insurance. In fact, I was lured into the false pretense that it would be covered, and I made it very clear to them beforehand that I was financially burdened by a medical condition, so this action was borderline discriminatory, and needlessly so, since I was an ideal, charming patient until I got the bill. What I can say, however is that they failed to do what I believe was their due diligence in both checking the payment on the procedure as well as conveying the lack of coverage to me. Especially since they know much more about insurance, procedures, and coverage than I know given they work directly in the industry and I am just a client, that is supposed to be treated with better care both procedurallly as well as administratively. As a result, not only do I get to pay about 600/yr on dental insurance foregone (since it is difficult with my concurrent medical appointments to find time off work to actually go to a dentist within the 9-5 m-f window of time), I also get to pay greater than 300 dollars for what should have been a routine cleaning. This has never ever happened at any of the dentists I've been to in at least four states. When I complained about it, and requested it to be corrected by coding it properly as the routine cleaning procedure (that it would have been had I not mentioned I hadn't been to the dentist for a longer than usual period of time) they mentioned health insurance fraud. This further alienated and frustrated me because I'm wondering which party is the one who would be the recipient party of the fraud -me versus the insurance. It was not my aim to ask them to do something wrong, illegal or unethical, but to correct a mistake I felt they made. Instead, they villianized me to make a few extra dollars, which means they will get those dollars once, and when i am able to pay it and they will not get any more! My recommendation, is if you are a rich person to the extent that needless, exploitative charges are levied upon you are like water on a duck's back, and/or you have bulletproof (we pay for everything) insurance, then you should go to this practice. Otherwise, be wary and you double check their work prior to their executing it. Their insurance accountant is an idiot, and she's also a jerk on the phone for blaming the victim. read more

Would love to give a good review of Dr. Greenhalgh, but after 1 hour and 25 minutes after my original appointment time, I never met him. Finally ended up walking out. My original appt time was at 12:20pm today. About 11am I received a call saying they were running behind, and could I come in at 1245pm instead. No problem at all. I rearranged a couple things, and good to go. 12:35pm, arrive and fill out my paperwork to be ready for my 12:45pm appt. 1:30pm, still sitting in the lobby. 5 or 6 patients have come and gone since my arrival, including people that arrived after me. Started complaining, so they moved me back to a room. 15 minutes later, still no sign of the doctor. Nurse says "hopefully it will only be about 5 minutes more". Hopefully. She asked me if I wanted to reschedule, and I let her know that I would not be coming back. If the good dentist does not have more respect for his patients, then I didn't want anything to do with his company. read more

Although Dr. Greenhalgh is considered "out of network" for my dental insurance, I would never consider switching dentists. He is patient, kind, and extremely gentle when working in my mouth. He always takes the time to explain a procedure in detail, and verifies several times to ensure he's answered all of my questions. He also checks in several times throughout the procedure to make sure I'm comfortable. Dr. Greenhalgh always makes a point to check in with me to see what's going on in my life, outside of the dentist office. He has a very caring nature about him, which helps me feel like I'm more than just a patient to him. The staff at Dr. Greenhalgh's office is outstanding as well!! Everyone I interact with, from the receptionist to the hygienists, to the office manager and treatment coordinator, are extremely warm and friendly. Nobody acts in a false manner, so as cheesy as it sounds, I feel like I'm visiting family when I'm in the office. The fact of the matter is...there's a reason he was named one of 5280's Top Dentists. He's top-notch and deserves every accolade he receives. Dr. Greenhalgh and his staff are off on Mondays, but accept 7am appointments on Wednesdays and Fridays. Aside from this being one of the most painful dental experiences, I would caution potential patients to be fully knowledgeable about their dental insurance. Absolutely request a preauthorization from your insurance company prior to any dental treatment. if your dental insurance company is contracted fee-for-service, then you cannot be overcharged for treatment, as the dental office must comply with contracted fees. I was overcharged, and spent hours trying to figure out why there was an overcharge. finally, after contacting my insurance company, I was told that the fees on my pre-authorization was the correct amount. I was so thankful that I requested the pre-authorization. Other events took place that made me question the integrity of office staff. Good luck! read more
