I thought these places were to be rehabilitating individuals and they seem to be doing the opposite. Avoid at all cost of this place.

I was in a big room where all the patients were after the staff would lock a lot of people out of each room early in the morning. You sit there all day and staff just ignored you all day. I would be given medication that never helped and was over medicated and felt like a zombie. I never slept and I was awake 24 hours, 7 days a week. When I first arrived it was 2:00 A.M. I asked the only person at the counter if there are any men here, and she said no. So I went to the room to sleep but I was awake. I Just laid there and then in the morning the staff locked everyone out of the rooms and l saw men. You cannot trust the staff. They are supposed to help you, but instead they are your enemies. They discharged me and I was not even mentally stable when they discharged me I really needed help and could not get any help. I do not know how the state and the government allows this facility to keep running this mental hospital. This is place has staff that gives no help and treats people like animals. Chicago Read Mental Health Center should have been shut down many years ago according to what a I see in the other reviews I see, it has not changed in all these years gone by since the 1980's!

After a tremendous amount of time looking for a healthcare provider for my father with complex medical history I must say I believe this place might be it. From the medical assistant to the physician NP they both took the time to go over my fathers history, medications and ensure that all issues are addressed. I appreciated the smiling staff from front desk to staff providing direct care. It was a very positive experience and to see my father laugh at the doctors office was great as you often don't seem to find that anywhere. Thank you to the staff that made our first visit great ! :) Definitely will be back.

I have visited CMC once before in 2018, when I was getting my immigration exam done. At that time,…read moreI met with Dr. Birn-Forys. She got the job done at a reasonable price and sent me on my way - no issues there. Recently, I went in for an appointment because I have been experiencing excruciating back pain. The staff, while not particularly nice on the phone, are quite friendly in-person. They were helpful in answering any questions I had. This time I met with Dr. Forys, and I was incredibly uncomfortable and upset with my visit. Dr. Forys was very abrasive, frequently cutting me off when he was asking me about my symptoms and whether I have been seeing any other specialists about this issue. I mentioned to him that I have been seeing a chiropractor and that said chiropractor said that perhaps I should get an x-ray if my symptoms don't subside. I was trying to get to the point that I individually decided to see a doctor and get a medical opinion about my issue (rather than relying on a chiropractor), when Dr. Forys just LOST IT on me. He reprimanded me, saying that he's not the chiropractor's personal assistant and he's not just going to give me a referral for an x-ray because someone else said so, and he said that I can't have multiple treatment plans at the same time. Frankly, I didn't consider visiting a walk-in chiropractic clinic once a week any sort of "treatment plan" - I've just been going to get an adjustment, hoping I'll feel better. I was visiting Dr. Forys specifically because I wanted HIS medical opinion, not because I was relying on that of someone else. (Also, as a side-note, we started our appointment speaking Polish. The angrier he got, the more he started switching to English. I gave him no indication that I speak English beforehand. It made me feel like he was purposely switching languages to intimidate me into just sitting there and letting him make me feel bad.) I've been really vulnerable because of my back issues, and I honestly felt like crying at that point. Here I was, trying to see an actual doctor to help me and sharing with him all information I found pertinent, and he was yelling at me. (I'm fine with his disdain for chiropractors and that he prefers that his patients don't see them - but that doesn't entitle him to treat me the way he did.) He proceeded to tell me that he doesn't like chiropractors and that they are "business men," implying that they're really just out to get people's money. Ironically, he recommended that I get 4-6 different blood lab tests just minutes later. I still don't understand how those tests were supposed to help treat my back pain. Ultimately, he referred me out to another doctor because he didn't know how to help me. He told me to come back after I've visited his referral. Again, not sure why. Needless to say, the last thing that I want when I'm in pain and I really need help is to be patronized and reprimanded by a doctor who is supposed to help me.

Every time I go to pay a bill it seems like nobody in that department wants to be there. As I walk in on some occasions to pay a bill for services and sessions. I always get the run around saying that the person is on lunch, or the gentleman at the front desk asked can I help you I tell him what I need to do and he asked me for my ID. Then he told me the lady is on lunch have a seat. Then the lady comes back and finally calls my name. I tell her I'm here to pay for services and sessions then she said oh, they only take cash, or check and I have been paying with a credit card then she has a little quiet attitude, so I always have to explain to them. Then she finally said oh, you're looking for the lady at the end is the cashier. Then I go and used my credit card to pay. However, I asked for an extra Xerox copy of the recipe and she said you can get one from the department you're paying for. I don't think it was all that trouble to get off her chair to get another copy. I could understand if she was very busy with lots of people, but there was only one person sitting in the waiting area. Oh, by the way I don't even get a thank you, or have a nice day! I'm always saying thank you to them! That entrance #4 staff needs to be a little more enthusiastic than they usually appear to be.. Thank you... Sincerely anonymous....
