I've frequented this spot for years, the guy behind the counter is always super nice, super chill, and always greets you at the door. The shop dog is so cute always walking around chillin, they always have a great updated selection of non alcoholic bevvys. I usually grab a sandwich next door and come over to Belmont for drinks. They have the best deal on the MELA watermelon waters with a variety of flavors. Today the incense was burning and the music was flowing--it was very Long Beach and felt like home. read more

I made my first stop to BHM just yesterday and the selection of craft beer and liquor is top notch.

I had one of the most terrifying experiences here, almost got accosted by the staff. Today I went to the store, been going to this store since it was a butcher and market thirty years ago. I go in at 11:30 am and the guy behind the counter is talking to a bald headed dude behind the counter. I ask are you in line after a minute. The guy looks at me and tells me he works there. Ok? Real cold like. So I go there for the same thing regularly, American spirit red pouch. It's marketed as organically grown and additive free. So they tell me they've discontinued the red pouch is discontinued and now it's blue. But I ask I'd like to see the pouch and read it. They guy starts making fun of me, calling me bro. I'm 50, I don't like to be called bro and I don't like a stranger half my age making fun of me and telling me I don't know what I'm talking about. Then he says, look when I scan it, it says red pouch. Again he's just being completely rude and laughing at me like I'm an idiot. So I loose it, I tell him, I'm the guy with money, I am the customer and if I want to read a package before I buy something... I'm the customer. The guy is at this point eyeing at his bald coworker and getting a good laugh out of me. As I'm leaving I'm pissed, I tell the guy to fuck off. I mean really? I've been going there for years and your going to bully a customer? I guess as I'm walking out cussing I look at the other guy. He then follows me out of the store with his fists going at me, in my face and threatening me. Telling me no tells him to fuck off. I apologize I tell him my beef is with the other guy. But he's not listening. I have to yell, I apologize if you think I cussed at you, as he's getting ready to punch me?!?! So I leave. I go to scotty's two blocks away, and they still have red pouch? The guy says that it was the local distributor not carrying it, so they changed distributors. Short story, the red pouch is still being made, and this store was lying to me and trying to sell me something I didn't want and bullied me if I didn't want to buy it. I am not going to step foot in this place again. The staff officially terrifies me. I suggest, don't go in here, and if you do watch your back. I can get red pouch at scotty's cheaper, as well as Payless tobacco on Anahiem and redondo. And there I don't have to get ridiculed and or fear an employee is going to follow me to the side walk and challenge me to a fight! read more

As of right now, I am going to leave this as a negative review. I will gladly change that review to a 5 star when my package is handed over to the person named on the shipping label. If not done so withing 8 business days or UPS does not retrieve my package from JOE, then I will follow up with BBB and other avenues including law enforcement as this is common practice at this location. Theft of packages is a federal offense. In reply to your reply. The black pelican case needs to be handed over to the address name shown. I am sure it is the ONLY black pelican case in the entire establishment. He has gone by there and was told it was not there, but JOE signed for it when UPS dropped it off. Now UPS has an open investigation and possible package retrieval. If not successful I will follow up with law enforcement. read more

Wow, I'm the first to review this place??? Love this place for the simple fact they offer bottles of independent drinks. Mainly iced teas, juices, and lemonades. Since I've stop drinking soda regularly, I've been stopping in here from time to time to try some new drinks. Loving the Calypso Lemonades...tried the tropical mango lemonade...so f'in good! I always love to see stores carry non-mainstream brands that usually put better care into making their products...I'm big on kickin' the HFCS habit with more organic drinks and juices. I've also experienced nothing but super friendly and nice service here. They've also got a killer hard liquor selection too. read more

Bought a beer here... got home to enjoy it. The beer had been on the shelf long enough that it had chunks in it which is coagulated proteins/fats that come from the yeast when it sits to long. Beer tasted like crap. The cashier was friendly. Don't come here for craft beers as they may be stale. read more

I thought fer sure I'd be the first to review this place. Been tellin em to get on the ol yelp... Friendly, family owned place with GREAT selection. They have quite a bit that's not too easy to find, as well. I'll also mention that when I first moved to this part of LB, no one, I mean NO ONE had my particular brand of cigarettes. I told the guys and they had em within a couple days. Now they always keep em in stock, pretty much just for me, but u am there almost every day. read more

The fact that they were more than willing to correct the issue and were so apologetic made me not only feel important as a customer but made me want to stay a loyal customer! I have been going back and forth with UPS and Belmont Heights Market trying to retrieve my property. Today, Wednesday, August 8, 2018 I was assured by UPS and Joseph (Belmont Heights Market) that I had TWO packages that could be picked up. The one from my initial review and a new package that is being held hostage at BHM. I called BHM and spoke with Joseph on the phone to confirm I had two packages there at their UPS Access Point. Joseph assured me over the phone that BHM had two of my packages ready for p/u. When I went to BHM, Joseph was at the counter and stated firmly that there are NO PACKAGES from UPS for me to p/u. I called UPS and asked where are my packages. The UPS rep called BHM and then called me back to say that BHM had a mix up with my name. THAT NEVER OCCURRED. We never got to my name or my UPS Infonotice #. Joseph then told me that I would have to speak to Rich (owner) regarding this issue. First off, I don't HAVE to SPEAK to ANYONE at ANYTIME REGARDING ANYTHING. BHM has my property and are upset by my reviews. Well, the Internet Blasting will continue because I always fight fire with fire. It's called self defense! Finally, the comment from Hector (Belmont Heights Market) is total B.S. My reviews stand as written. The security cameras show me trying to get my packages and Joseph telling me they are not there. Sorry you do not like my reviews BHM, but they do stand as written. All Joseph had to do was go and retrieve my packages. Do your cameras show him doing that? I do not see any apologies on this site or the Google review. I will not remove anything. Why should I? I came twice for my property and twice I was turned down! On Thursday, August 9, 2018 I was told by UPS that my packages would be picked up from BHM and redelivered Friday, August 10, 2018 (it will be the first delivery attempt because the driver bypassed delivering and went straight to this UPS Access Point). I was at home waiting for both of these packages that never came. Anyway, the lazy ass UPS driver delivered the second package in question today. I asked about the first package that I filed the BBB Complaint and the UPS investigation and was informed that the first package is in transit to the sender. Went to this store tonight as the access point for my UPS package. Was surprised to see a liquor store as a drop off location, but was optimistic everything would turn out okay. The clerk was cooperative at first but could not locate my package. I attempted to show him the proof of scan from UPS at 9:48am but he wouldn't even look. He said he has to explain to customers twice a day that there is a delay. Seeing as twice a day should probably prompt some better organization when receiving packages I wasn't convinced. Yes I know there is a delay but the delay had passed and the confirmation was received with specific time and location. He checked his computer and knew my name and origin of package. Several back room checks later he asked for tracking number, other names, address and origin of package which he already knew...this back room must be enormous. At which point the manager heroically appears and dismisses us outright telling him to tell us it's not there. At which point I made very clear we are calling the police to report theft. I have proof of receipt by this store and these are quite expensive items we are talking about. One last magical check in the enormous back room and the package is found. Just as another bewildered customer walked in with another package pickup. Manager was eager to move us along as clerk was explaining it was the managers son's fault for stocking it with the beer. Unbelievable experience and had to warm others as I have seen videos online of several thefts at these access points. As for this facility I filed a complaint with UPS directly. read more
