This review for Peggy is long overdue! I reached out to Peggy when I was only 9 weeks pregnant. I knew I wanted to work towards having a natural birth and was told having a doula was essential. I filled out an inquiry form and she immediately got back to me. We set up a Zoom interview and right off the bat, I knew she was the doula for me. She was so calm, well spoken, and so experienced. I didn't even bother looking further for any other doulas because I knew I wanted to work with only her. Booking Peggy early in my pregnancy was a complete God send. Any time I felt anxious or worried about my pregnancy, I reached out to her and she immediately helped to calm me down. Through the package I booked, my husband and I also did hypnobirthing classes (through Empowered Beginnings with Ciarra). Loved the classes and even met other pregnant mamas who I am still friends with today. My husband and I learned so much about labor and delivery. It made me feel more confident as my pregnancy progressed and as the due date approached. I ended up going spontaneously into labor 2 weeks before my due date. Unexpected and a complete surprise but Peggy was supportive every step of the way. She provided text support while I labored at home. We eventually reached out to her to come to the house and after seeing me in person, she knew it was time for us to head to the hospital. I unfortunately experienced a significant amount of back labor due to my baby's positioning BUT Peggy remained next to me and my husband every moment at the hospital. Although I was in a significant amount of pain and exhausted from laboring for so long, Peggy helped to keep me calm and focused on delivering my baby girl safely. She never left our side as I pushed for 7 hours. She helped me and my husband make informed and important medical decisions. I honestly couldn't have done it without her physical and emotional support. She also took so many photos and videos so that was a nice surprise to have to look back on. Especially when you are in la la labor land and going in and out during active labor. She remained with us after our baby girl entered the world and although it was such a long night, she remained present, patient, and supportive the entire time. She is literally a saint and incredibly patient and kind. If you are lucky enough to be able to get on our calendar, I would say book her immediately. You will have zero regrets! I can honestly say that I couldn't have experienced this natural birth without her and if you are wanting a natural birth, you definitely want someone like her by your side! read more

Working with Peggy as our birth doula was the best decision I made for the arrival of our son. And I wouldn't hesitate to work with Peggy again or refer her to anyone considering a doula. Do it. It is the best decision you can make to ensure a better birthing experience. In my situation, I was scheduled for a c-section for my second child. I remember how stressful and difficult my first C-section was but at that time I had a large network of support including my parents, in laws and relatives. My situation was very different this time around because now I don't have any family close by and I have an older child that needed attention and care. I didn't want to add that pressure on myself and my husband so a doula was the perfect choice. And boy did I get lucky by deciding to work with Peggy. Peggy's calm and peaceful demeanor allowed me to stay calm when things went haywire on the day of C-section. Yes even a scheduled C-section can go awry which was solely because of the hospital's negligence - more on seton's handling of my delivery and postpartum in a later review. But wow was I glad that Peggy was present for this fiasco. She helped guide us and give us suggestions how to handle the indifferent nurses that were clearly having a bad day and making up BS policies. Otherwise I would have been a complete mess stressing about my situation. She helped me just roll with it. During the C-section I was so grateful to have her serene voice guiding me through the procedure and holding down my shaking arms. I was so surprised that she was able to simultaneously snap over 100 photos during the procedure. That alone was a huge benefit to her presence. I now have a beautiful record of the arrival of my son which my husband would not have captured on his own. Since delivery, Peggy has been a wonderful resource for breastfeeding. She is also a lactation consultant so extremely knowledgeable about proper latching, positioning, etc. and. Her knowledge and experience is invaluable which has allowed us to have a wonderful breastfeeding experience. I chose Peggy to be my doula for my first birth, and WOW I really could not have done it without her. Peggy worked with me and my husband while I was pregnant to make sure that we were informed of our choices, which helped us create a birth plan. She was excellent during my actual birth, and provided so much comfort and support during my unmedicated labor. She also helped my husband support me by showing him counter pressure exercises and soothing techniques that helped tremendously. Additionally, Peggy was able to photograph my labor and birth. She took a video of me meeting my son for the very first time that I have watched over and over again. If you're looking for labor or lactation support, Peggy is incredible! Peggy was actually our backup Doula if our main person was in labor with someone else, which I happened to have an extremely long first labor/birth and cannot tell you how amazing Peggy was stepping in and staying with us through it all! She was with us every step of the way and I felt extremely lucky to experience such care in my first pregnancy. I had an unusual birth experience that lasted in 12hrs of labor at a birthing center, non-emergency transfer to a hospital, 4hrs pushing, to have it end with a c-section due to my physical pelvic anatomy as the issue of not birthing vaginally. She was there from birthing center, hospital transfer, pushing assistance to finally having my little guy Finn in my arms. She was supportive, knowledgeable, and knew exactly how to help me. Mind and body! So thank you Peggy. We couldn't have done it without you. I then had some issues with breastfeeding and Peggy came over and answered all my questions as I explained my issues and struggles. She listens and doesn't tell you how to change and do it her way. She knows the struggles new moms can go through with breastfeeding. She doesn't make you feel incompetent but helps you try new techniques and stays with you until you feel comfortable enough with adjustments to keep going. Breastfeeding is hard work. For those who like more detail - I partnered with BeLoved Doula's for my 2nd child's birth and postpartum care, and holy cow it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.  My first child was born in a hospital with numerous interventions that created so much fear and trauma for both myself and my husband, so we walked into our 2nd birth with a lot of emotional hurdles to confront and heal. But Peggy was our fairy birth-mother during pregnancy and we relied on her heavily to calm our hundreds of questions. She always responded in such a short time frame, and had the most calming and loving advice that helped us feel completely prepared and even excited for labor. For my homebirth, Peggy suggested we have a Doula from her team present specifically for my older daughter who is 2 years old, and it was a fabulous decision. The moment I started having contraction, my daughters Doula Sonet came over and helped her feel happy, loved, and safe while my husband focused soley on me until the team could arrive. Both Peggy and our Midwife came just in the nick of time to catch our beautiful and healthy baby boy right as he was coming out (I'm a very quick birther, and the Doula for our first birth didn't make it in time for our first baby). Peggy's calming presence and confidence in my abilities helped push me through to the finish line. We also worked with Postpartum Doula's Sonet and Katie Mae who were godsends. I didn't realize how difficult the postpartum period would be with older children, and I would've been a mess without their help. I just gave birth to my second baby, 14 years later and due to my age the doctors decided to induce me which I did not think I could handle after having a natural birth the first time. We decided to hire a doula in my 36th week and feel so grateful that Peggy was available! After the incredible experience of a safe, healthy, and unmedicated hospital birth with Peggy's support, my husband and I agree that a doula is a must have for labor and delivery. I hired Peggy late into my third trimester to be my doula for my home birth mainly to help take care of my son if needed. She was more than happy to help me in any capacity I needed her which wasn't the case with other doulas I had spoken to. When we had our visit with her, my son immediately took to her and my husband and I felt very comfortable with her, almost like talking to an old friend. Unexpectedly, at 35 weeks pregnant I went into labor and had to have a hospital birth instead. Peggy was there within an hour and completely drove the way my birth went. She helped me stay comfortable, suggested positions for me to help move my baby down, and knew when to tell staff to leave because I was overwhelmed. Despite not wanting a hospital birth and scared to have my daughter so early, I had the best experience I could have had because of Peggy. Not only that, but she stayed in contact with me, checking in to see how my daughter and I were doing while she was in the NICU. Once we were all home, she came to visit us to make sure everything was going well.
