They have a wide variety of Babcock ice creams to choose from for cones and dishes and there are unique flavors of shakes, floats, and sundaes. We ended up ordering the cold brew coffee float which features Let It Ride cold brew coffee and the hot honey mango shake. Both were quite tasty, but the shake was a standout. It's a flavor we haven't seen around Madison before and it's wonderfully balanced between the sweetness of the mango and the slight spicing of the hot honey to make a delightful shake. Staff was very friendly and we were able to try some samples of the ice creams to decide what we wanted. There is also a nice patio setup off of the bike path in the back. As it was opening day, they are still working out some kinks and working on some fun other options for the menu. We spoke to the owner and it sounds like there will be some vegan options coming in the very near future in some sorbets.

We were just wandering through the building with our drinks when the staffer at Calliope (connected to Ian's Pizza) waved and offered us a sample of a few flavors. We didn't plan to order anything, and I explained we just picked up our drinks so didn't intend to order, but he suggested to sample something anyway as "ice cream goes good with lemonade." Very friendly and welcoming. I am sooooo glad we did sample the ice cream. The Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble was the best ice cream I have ever had. I ended up ordered a scoop in a waffle cone and enjoyed every bite. Just incredible. House-made. So rich. Small batches. Generous scoop for $6. My friend sampled something like "Breakfast Flavor" which was waffle, syrup and bacon (?) I believe. What a unique flavor combo! I will definitely return for another scoop next time I am in Madison. I am going to try to Lemon Lavender next, if it is still available. I love the cheery open setting and the quick service. Price was reasonable considering the high-quality. Loved this place!

A friend I was with recommended the cheese curds, and they delivered! Which is a big deal for a born and raised Wisconsinite! The breading wasn't too thick or oily, and they stayed hot. Service was very fast, and the outdoor tables were clean and available to sit at. I love that each table easily seats up to six. Cute spot for a sweet treat. It even drizzled a little, but the umbrella over the table kept us completely dry.

My life has been spoiled with good custard. Madison has plenty of good ice cream, but sometimes I want *frozen custard.* Rather than wait for my next trip to Milwaukee, I decided to finally give Michael's a shot. Note: Yes, I know about Culver's. Love their burgers. Their custard is fine and works really in moments of desperation. I decided to also try the basic (single) cheeseburger and fries to complete my dinner alongside my small vanilla malt. The fries were good, and I love that they're a sliced potato style that curls up as touch to create a perfect well for scooping into your custard. The cheeseburger was a very standard burger at $4, the reduced price as part of their 40th anniversary specials. Were I to get another burger, I would likely opt for one of the others that comes with toppings beyond ketchup. My shake was also fine. It was a bit on the thinner side, and I'm unsure if that's the custard or the ratio of custard to milk when mixing. Though I was giving a thicker straw, it wasn't needed. Overall, I liked my meal but was a little underwhelmed given the prices. I am intrigued by the rest of their menu, particularly the signature sundaes, so I will give the custard a further shot in the future. I can see why this is a popular Madison spot, especially on a summer night with its classic diner/soda shop vibes. I just continue to remain a spoiled Milwaukee custard loyalist.
