Another win for ice cream social! My favorite is Saturday Morning Cartoons when they have it, but Oat So Good (pictured) will definitely become a new favorite. The store owner was working up front when we went today. Lovely and friendly! They always offer samples. The waffle cones are delicious and fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's cute and bright in the inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is limited seating inside and a few seats in the parking area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As always, will be back for more.
cute little ice cream shop with creative flavors! the service was great!! the worker helping us was super friendly and she let us sample flavors! and was very generous with the amount too :) i decided to get the sweet corn flavor, "Aw, Shucks!" bc it has corn from a local Wisconsin farm, Nehner Family Farms, and i really love supporting local businesses! It was also swirled in with caramel which made the ice cream taste like a mild kettle corn! really yummy ice cream!! had it with a maple waffle cone and it added some molasses flavor and sweetness! great crunch too~ sampled the basil peach flavor and it was a strong contender, wish i lived in WI so i could come back :( [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is fairly small, with only a few tables and chairs but luckily we came when there weren't many people so we snagged a seat[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] also i love their cause! they frequently donate part of their profits that support communities of color, women, LGBTQIA, and many other important social issues :) !!!
I had walked past this ice cream shop a few times and it's next to Pasture and Plenty. I generally prefwr frozen custard (Kopps, Giles, etc in MKE). I finally decided to bring home a pint after browsing through their many unique flavors. I chose the Aw Shucks since it's likely the end of corn season--and sweet corn is such a big deal here in the Midwest. A pint was $12, which I first thought was a little pricey, but I learned they use high-quality ingredients, and donate 10% to social justice cause, so it made sense. Once I tried it at home, it was pretty good. The corn flavor was quite subtle. Overall, it was still an enjoyable and good choice of ice cream. I will be back for peach or basil s they rotate their flavors often.

It has a fun and quirky vibe that makes it great for meeting up with a few friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ice cream has a tendency to be either too expensive or too cheap tasting, but this place finds a nice niche with its creative rotating selection of flavors. It is on the pricey side of ice cream but it's unique and quality enough to justify the price. You never know what you will find at Ice cream social. I suggest trying out the weirdest flavor they have available because it always tastes so unique and yet so good. The people working the counter consistently are nice and seem to have fun serving ice cream. They are fairly generous with offering tastes of different kinds if you are having a hard time choosing. A go-to for me and my besties in the summer! They have a smaller selection but the choices are always changing and unique. They have several gluten free and dairy free options, these also rotate! A cool aspect of this small business is that part of their proceeds go to local non-profits! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is smaller for seating but there are some comfy outdoor seating options as well with sun protection.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They place us always clean and well kept with kind staff![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One note is that cars often bottom out when going in/out of their parking lot, so I park on the street when it's available.
Ice cream social is the BEST ice cream in Madison! The flavors change frequently and impress me every time I visit. They are absolutely amazing and so unique. The ice cream itself is always so fresh and thick. Not only is the ice cream amazing, but the business itself is worth supporting. I LOVE that a portion of all purchases go to different non profits. The staff and owner are absolutely wonderful. I am so glad this space is open in Madison and that I have the opportunity so support a business that stands up for what's right.

The staff was super friendly and let me sample a bunch of flavors. We opted for browned butter, and honey pineapple. They seem like they cycle flavors a lot but everything I tasted was super good. Nice cream coating, a huge flavor load, and the consistency was perfect. Ice cream lovers, look out for this one.
I went on a weekday evening. There was some traffic, but not too crazy. I went for a 3 scoop flight - cloud 9, cherry styles and berry corny. All 3 were excellent flavors and the ice cream was really creamy. I am convinced all flavors here will be real good. They have a small parking lot. I could have parked there. But I parked right outside before noticing the lot. There were a couple of tables inside, and some tables outside. Inside, it is a small shop. Someone makes icecream cones right there. And the cones were really good. Try either as an icecream in a cone or the cone as an icecream topping.

That and the business's continued mission of donating a portion of their profits to local social justice organizations makes it a no-brainer for you to stop by and spend your money here. This is my must-go spot when I have friends visiting from out of town. The flavors are constantly rotating, but if you follow their Instagram they update it with whats in stock. This place has been on my list for awhile, so we decided to take a work trip out for ice cream on a nice summer evening. A very popular place, it was certainly busy, but they have an outdoor window where you can order instead of going inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have open concrete space where you can just linger and then some Astroturf type rugs with chairs where you can actually sit (limited but available).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's dog friendly outside (didn't go inside so not sure if inside) and all of the staff that came to the window was really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were pretty efficient in being able to check the outside window while handling foot traffic inside the place. They're clearly very community oriented, which is nice and refreshing. A lot of the more "upscale" ice cream options are expensive these days, and I wouldn't put Ice Cream Social as any more expensive than their peers. A nice treat on a warm day. My pup is partial to vanilla ice cream, but they do have frozen pup cups -- might be challenging for them to eat right away, probably needs to melt a bit. read more

Harvest moon flavor is unreal. I dream about it daily. I'm also partial to the browned butter flavor. I love the story behind Ice Cream Social and it's inspiring to see the growth of what it's become now. I'll let you read her story on her website but the motto to know is "small batches for big change." In the beginning when ordered were only going through Instagram, you had to be online and DM right on the dot to get one of the coveted pints. Small batches indeed but so worth it! I appreciate the aesthetic of the brand, the cause of donating a portion of the proceeds to organizations fighting for social justice, and the creativity of the flavors (and names) of each ice cream batch! There are so many unique flavors and I was able to order the 'All Mallows Eve' a spooky delicious treat that's not overly sweet. My weakness is dark chocolate and mixed with marshmallow fluff is a dream. Highly recommend. Congratulations on your continued success. Love love love love this place!! Cute little shop not that far from UW Hospital. Their flavors rotate and they are closed on Wednesdays for production. I have been there three times and today's trip was just as delicious as the other two. Service with a smile every time! You must go if you have the chance. read more

You walk into a well lit visually inspired area. There is a small single table seating area. The usual ice cream glass display area, staffed by friendly extremely pleasant staff. They offer taste to help you choose. The ice cream is very creamy and the flavor profiles are unique but blend extremely well. Once you get to the waffle cone, it is a delicacy. Surprising crisp with a flavor you will cherish. To top it off the give a portion back to the community. Wonderful! read more
It's week two of their brick and mortar store. While I couldn't attend opening weekend, I might have to say this is a curse and blessing considering I live so close. I've been keeping a close eye on their Instagram to see what flavors were in store for this weekend. There was a line when I showed up a little after 3 but it moves quick. I ordered a flight because who really wants one scoop only? I'd say this would be good for two people although I'd claim to be a hypocrite since I'm devouring a flight by myself. get the waffle cone pieces! Blueberry muffin: literally tastes like a blueberry Opa's birthday cake: has a bit more texture which I enjoy, I'd say sweeter than the blueberry The best is yet to crumble: HOLY MOLY LET ME GET A PINT. It's not as sweet as the other two. There's a pop of tart that really sets off the sweet ice cream vibe. Lots of textures that I love. Last week I had been eyeing up a lavender honeycomb so I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for that. While my body can tolerate gluten and lactose, I can't even tell the difference. **not all flavors are lactose free** I hope this place lasts forever in Madison. They really are bringing their own style to ice cream that sets them apart from the rest. I bought a pre packed pint for a friend who couldn't make it back in time to try the flavors he wanted to. They didn't have any of the best is yet to crumble prepacked but they did it right there when I was to pay. Seating is very limited, maybe 2-4 people, but surely, I can this place running long lines come summer. Easily to stroll around the neighborhood or walk to the lake a few blocks away. This is a great little ice cream shop with interesting flavors. I got the song of ice and fire flavor which had maple and cayenne and chili candied pecans. This place had some great interesting flavors. It's a little expensive though. read more

I have been obsessed with Ice Cream Social since she was doing small batches in June 2020 and you had to call DIBS! on Instagram every Friday at exactly noon. This ice cream is so delicious and unique and it is so cool to have seen the evolution of this business. Women-owned businesses are the best!!! I have been following Ice Cream Social since they started as online only business in 2020. I absolutely loved the story behind the shop and their stance on social justice. The owner, Katrina, donates the money from her weekly ice cream sales to organizations in the local community fighting for social and racial equity. Not only is the story amazing, but the ice cream is beyond delicious! It's made from scratch in Madison. They frequently switch out their unique flavors and all the ice cream is gluten free (not that you can tell). So far, I've only tried the monster cookie ice cream. It was absolutely amazing- m&ms and cookie dough in every bite. The ice cream base is so creamy and delicious on its own as well. I can't wait to go back and try more flavors! The shop itself is SO cute! If you've followed Ice Cream Social on Instagram, you know Katrina put her heart and soul into every detail. She hand stained the ice cream bar, designed the sign, picked out all the different paints (possibly painted the shop too) and more. The shop has accent colors of dark blues, yellows, corals, pinks, and whites. It's such a cute combination of colors and works perfectly with all the LED signs and hanging pendant lights. Their official opening date is on Friday, March 11th. You NEED to check it out! read more
Unique flavors you're never going to realize how much you missed in life until your first bite (lick?) After getting pick-ups since early on in the pandemic from Katrina, the founder, to support her donations to a variety of social justice organizations, we're so excited to be able to continue to do so on a regular basis at this brick and mortar location! Seriously the best ice cream you're going to find - make sure to stock up on some of the take-home pints! We're partial to Song of Fire and Ice (a maple-base ice cream with spicy & crunchy pecans) and the new blueberry flavor was incredible as well. So many gluten-free options (even the waffle cones!) and pup-cups too. read more
