Doctor was extremely polite and attentive but the senior older woman at the front desk was very harsh and impolite and she added $75 to my card without my permission even though I'm on Humana Medicare and according to Humana my co-pay was supposed to be zero dollars. She then also wanted to add $50 late fee even though I called when I was just 5 minutes late and was told not to worry and if convenient instead of rushing (I live 7 minutes away) I could just come in the next day. I am filing a complaint with the credit card company and also with Medicare/Humana. read more

After getting a new contacts prescription, my reading glasses were not working. Everything was blurry, and it was making me crazy, not to mention giving me headaches. I was able to quickly get an appointment, and not only did Dr. Ramp help me get the right reader glasses strength, he also explained why the higher magnification was causing my trouble. My favorite part were the tests with Justin (tech/assistant?) before seeing the doc. He was fun, funny and kind. He made me feel as ease and almost like I was talking to a really good friend. Dr. Ramp himself was fantastic! I told him I am pregnant and a type 1 diabetic. He explained each step of the exam clearly and answered all my questions in a way that was easy to understand. One word "Horrible"! Told on the phone it would be a $39 copay for multifocal contact lens exam... upon arrival for my appointment, after putting me through the documentation ringer (drivers license, insurance card, etc), I was told the charge would be $175. My wife had a similiar experience previously... should have listened but thought I could trust what I was told on the phone...mistake. read more

I wish i could give zero stars! Please do not go to this office there are so many other places you can go in town. The front staff is absolutely awful. Justin at the front desk is one of the rudest condescending people I have ever had to deal with. His manager could also care less which in turn is why he acts like he does. He knows he can get away with anything and can treat you however he wants. It's unfortunate because Dr. Ramp seems like a great guy and doctor but you also have to wonder how he is if he allows his staff to treat patients like they do. You are only as good as your staff!! Not surprising these days though people are just not nice anymore and customer service is a thing of the past!! Update ask doctor to call me so I could discuss what happened today and never received a call!! Everything is now clear, he doesn't care that he lost two patients and doesn't care to hear the other side of the story! He will continue to listen to his staff that is not honest. I placed an order through their website for contacts on 4/30/21, and received an email that there was a problem with the order and to contact the office. I contacted the office on Tuesday and was told I was going to receive a call back (so he could figure out the issues with my order)---never received a call back. I called again today and received a similar message, "I will call you back." WHERE IS YOUR CALL! Do not accept the "I will call you back" line from their office associates, it is just a lie to get rid of you. I had no problem with Dr. Ramp or my eye exam, I just don't appreciate their office staff. Ugh. I hate leaving bad reviews especially when there was a lot of positive. The ladies at front and the assistant were amazing. The doctor was wonderful. I hate going to do anything like this and he was super easy and refreshing. But I will never ever come back. Why? They handed my prescription (and my sons) to Mr Eyeglasses guy. He wanted to sell me some glasses. 1) I'm in the middle of the work day so I don't have a lot of time and 2) their selection didn't appeal. I wanted to check out Warby Parker and I told him so and he huffed and started trashing them. Then he threw the prescription cards on the table and walked off. I wish I could have called him out on how rude he was being but frankly I wash shocked. I still can't believe it. How could someone be so rude to someone who literally did nothing to them? I'm sorry I did not want to buy your eyeglasses but you really think it was appropriate to be that way to me? Awful. I scheduled a last minute eye appointment. There were issues with my insurance, which they called me about just now. I opted to cancel (to reschedule later) to figure out the insurance, and was told I would be charged a $50 fee. This was not disclosed to me when I made the appointment, nor is it listed anywhere on their website. Also, since I made the appointment last minute, they clearly had an opening and it's not like I held up that spot for weeks. I understand a business needs to run its practice with policies, but they should be clear. Luckily for them, I am honest and paid the fee, but I definitely will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Poor customer service. They used to do "price matching" for contacts and now they refuse to do so. I called the office to see if I could get a couple days of trials as I'm out of contacts and they would not give me a trial box because I did not order through them. I realize this is a courtesy, but they get plenty of free trials from manufacturers to give out to patients and for them to deny to give a paying customer a couple of contacts is poor customer service. These folks took such great care of me when I needed to get my glasses prescription filled. When there was a problem with one of the lenses, they got me in without an appointment and found that the prescribing doctor had not corrected my vision correctly. They got me turned around and new glasses ordered in less than 30 minutes. I could not be more pleased with the service and kindness from the folks here. read more

The front desk staff are horrible. I scheduled annual exams for my kids and myself, ensuring that they had my correct insurance information. I received a text only 30 minutes before our appointment saying that they needed to cancel my son's appointment because they don't see patients under 5 years old. This should have been my first sign to run. I worked with them to correct his DOB and we made our appointments. At check out they informed me that my bill was $370, not my normal $60 copay. When I asked why the girl said because my insurance didn't cover the retinal exam. When questioning why they didn't tell me this information upfront, the girl at the front desk response was that I didn't ask any questions. She was defensive and never apologized. This is dishonest, deceptive, and a poor way to run a business by taking advantage of clients. I can't in good conscience recommend this office to anyone who needs eye care. read more

Oh my gosh, what a wonderful experience today at Dr. Ramp's Belterra Eyecare! The office is super sleek and literally immaculate. The staff somehow manages to make it feel as clean as can be but equally as warm, if that makes any sense. They were to a person exceptionally pleasant and professional. We actually followed Dr. Ramp from the Walmart location. I initially found him due to an eye issue with our young son, & he has been so consistently amazing with our boy, our entire family has now decided to switch over. The doctor seems to do a good job during the eye exam. However, they are so driven to purchase locally and only use a San Antonio lab, the quality of the frames and lenses are questionable. They clam they can secure the lightest lenses from that source, however, weighing the glasses tells an entirely different story. Finally, depending on the optician, your results will be very different and their receptionist can be extremely rude. All in all, we won't be back. read more

Best service ever. My sister fell, cut her eyebrow area badly enough it took five stitches to patch her back together. That was bad enough; but on top of that her new glasses were broken. The very best!!! I've worn glasses since 1959. Have never had such clear vision and did not expect to see best in my 60s! Recently my husband and I both purchased new glasses. He went to Belterra Eyecare first and was immediately pleased with the very courteous, professional service he received. Mr. Shipp, the manager, suggested a handsome, comfortable frame which compliments my husband's face and style. The glasses arrived quickly and were perfect! Now my part of the story: I bought mine from a different place and they were HORRIBLE! They made me feel drunk and the only way I could focus was to cross my eyes slightly. They also gave me a horrible, stabbing headache within minutes. So I got smart and returned those and went straight back to Belterra Eyecare. I took my time going through the frames and ultimately chose a style which Mr. Shipp suggested. I'm very happy with the look and wearability but I'm ASTOUNDED at the quality of the lenses and the clarity of vision. Honestly, I've never seen so well in my life. I called to see if they had my contact prescription in stock and they told me they did just bring in my prescription.
