During a scheduled visit to California I thought it would be nice to start fresh with some new photo memories and knock out some engagement photos at the same time. Tori was very accommodating to my many emails and questions, as I am in Minnesota. Her fee, even as a student was shockingly low, especially considering the professional photos displayed on her website. We took photos downtown San Diego and at the beach. Tori scouted out great photo locations before our arrival to use our scheduled time efficiently. My fiancé was not cooperating very well (he hates pictures!), and I was worried our session would be a bust. However, Tori was still was able to capture many precious moment for us, despite his resistance. I am very happy with our photos! I am very impressed by Tori's skill level and I know she will be very successful continuing her professional photography dream! I wish I could bring Tori to MN to do our wedding photos! With the expense of a wedding and moving across the country to CA directly after the wedding, it's just not in our budget, unfortunately!

Tory took my daughters senior pictures for a fraction of the price her high school was offering. She was on time, let us pick the location and was a real pleasure to work with. We are absolutely in love with the pictures, some which included her boyfriend. We spent well over an hour just before sunset, and she utilized many different backgrounds. We had a surfboard as a prop which totally added a playful part of my daughters personality (Tori recommended this).. I think my daughter could land a modeling job with some of these photos. We scheduled the photo start time for 2 PM, annd Alex showed up at 12:00PM to begin setting up. My makeup artist told me this is Alex style. Once he finished setting up the video equipment, he went to the site to start capturing the details--shots of my dress, my beautiful high heels, and jewelry. He was so detailed, trying to get different angles of the shots, which I really liked. I spent a lot of money on my dress and accessories, and I definitely wanted to capture them in my book. The ceremony was outside under the stage, and he guided us to the back area, which had more greenery, for our family and wedding party portraits. He was so funny and creative--everyone enjoyed his sense of humor. I believe he has a gift for making people feel comfortable and de-stressed. He even made my 85-year-old grandmother smile, which I hadn't seen in a long, long time. During the ceremony, he captured so many different shots, from wide angles to close-ups. He stayed close to us but kept enough distance so that the guests felt comfortable. I remember at my sister's wedding, her photographer stayed too close to everyone, and it felt awkward. As parents, family sessions can sometimes feel stressful especially with a large group, but Alex made the entire process effortless and fun. He was incredibly patient with our kids and captured such beautiful, candid moments that truly reflect our family's personality. He also very patiently full-filled my sister's wishes of have many different poses with her two impatient teenagers who normally reluctant to pose "intimately" with their mother. They are really great at capturing all kinds of funny expressions, they have two cameras going and keep snapping shots. Also, they are great people! Easy to communicate with, very creative and nice so it's easy for everyone to get comfortable around them, including the subjects (or objects) being photographed. We also got a couple of shots of our dogs, which are awesome.... It is really hard to get professional shots of animals because where do you take them? Not to the mall photographer.... to the Petsmart photo day? I don't think so .... So Sara and Ryan are also great if you want professional shots of your pets.... since they are nice and trustworthy, the animal get comfortable around them really fast so the photos come out great! I'll be uploading a couple to show you what I mean :) Anyway! My now wife and I are originally from back east, and never really felt at home in the O.C. The vibe out there is, well...not for us. When we started searching for our photographer, we came across many high-end companies dropping names and peddling their celebrity wedding shots. This was the exact opposite of what we wanted for our small, intimate event. We finally stumbled across www.saraplusryan.com (our photos are posted on their blog) and knew instantly they would get it. And us. We video chatted one time, had dinner another, and it was settled. On the big day, they arrived early and made us feel at ease while we got ready. We had a "first look" session before the ceremony that, to my surprise, wasn't awkward AT ALL. I was worried we'd look stiff and posed, but these two make you feel so comfortable you forget all that and just enjoy the moment with your partner. They flew through the obligatory (read: boring) family portraits in no time, which we personally appreciated. Though I'm sure they'd tailor time spent on certain shots to whatever the couple wanted. During the ceremony, they captured so many emotions in such unique ways. And at the reception, you literally don't realize they're even there. This made for incredibly candid, genuine shots of many intimate moments with our families and friends. After the toast, it was time for them to go. I almost asked them to stay for dinner, at least the 1st course! We received our photos in no time (2 weeks, maybe) via an email system that was very convenient to download, order prints and share with others. Going through them the first time, we were floored. Their style is one of photojournalism- capturing moments as they arise with unique perspectives and small, creative touches that make it seem like you're there when it's happening. It told the story of our day without words. They are truly talented. We couldn't be happier with Sara and Ryan's services, and will cherish the memories they gave us forever. Melissa NAILED IT! I loved her style of photography. We ended up with Melissa through an umbrella…read morevendor and didn't know who we were getting until the week of the wedding. (Living dangerously!!) I was pretty nervous given the control I relinquished, and given that we chose our photography based primarily on budget. I cannot express how impressed we were with her level of polite and gracious control getting everyone in place and making sure my position and stance was right to make me look as flattering as possible. (I'm on the plus-size side of things.) She was early to the venue and calm as a cucumber. I needed that since it is incredibly difficult to remain calm and in the moment on your wedding with total chaos ensuing around you. And that's just her behavior and demeanor... but the pictures!! The photos came back within 72 hours of the event, and were beyond fantastic. She got all the shots we wanted, and did a great job capturing spontaneous moments, and sweet details of the reception and decor. When I had the opportunity to point out important people to her, she did her best to get extra candids of those people, while simultaneously considering lighting and contrast and composition. (I also cut corners by choosing to do my own editing--art school nerd-- but many of the images don't even need it!!) Some of the other things we splurged on for the wedding were a disappointment. Ricardo did a fabulous job shooting our wedding, rolled with the punches (weather! low lighting!…read morerebellious toddlers!) and got a good number of images back to me within half as many days as we'd agreed to. Before the wedding we met once to go over logistics and agree on a shot list. The meeting was pleasant and I left feeling confident that he understood what we wanted - mostly candids of our guests enjoying themselves during the reception and a quick family photo session in the park immediately following our ceremony. On the day of my wedding, about two hours before we were supposed to meet at Brooklyn Bridge Park we had to call off the park ceremony due to rain. We also pushed everything back an hour. Ricardo was very understanding and when I showed up at The Green Building (our reception venue) he was already there with his assistent, had shot all my precious little DIY details before the guests had a chance to settle in, and expertly captured our ceremony in a much different setting than we'd discussed. During the party I didn't even know he was there, which to me is a good thing. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of our shots and would 100% recommend Ricardo and Leon Images to a friend.
