We hired Alex and his team for my photo and video. We had a 7-hour package from 2 PM to 9 PM at Willows Lodges. We scheduled the photo start time for 2 PM, annd Alex showed up at 12:00PM to begin setting up. My makeup artist told me this is Alex style. Once he finished setting up the video equipment, he went to the site to start capturing the details--shots of my dress, my beautiful high heels, and jewelry. He was so detailed, trying to get different angles of the shots, which I really liked. I spent a lot of money on my dress and accessories, and I definitely wanted to capture them in my book. The ceremony was outside under the stage, and he guided us to the back area, which had more greenery, for our family and wedding party portraits. He was so funny and creative--everyone enjoyed his sense of humor. I believe he has a gift for making people feel comfortable and de-stressed. He even made my 85-year-old grandmother smile, which I hadn't seen in a long, long time. During the ceremony, he captured so many different shots, from wide angles to close-ups. He stayed close to us but kept enough distance so that the guests felt comfortable. I remember at my sister's wedding, her photographer stayed too close to everyone, and it felt awkward. We received over 2,000 proofs to select from and ended up choosing 250 instead of the 200 we planned. Thank you, Alex and your team, for capturing this wonderful lifetime memory for us. Alex has taken photos of my family for years. We were so excited for him to shoot our wedding and unfortunately the photos were the only thing that went wrong. First, he over charged us and we got over 1000 photos and video that were extremely low quality. When he sent us the preview all the photos were edited. But our gallery only had photos with filters. I don't know why a photographer would offer edited photos then say "it wasn't included in the package". He missed important moments and the only family photo my husband's family wanted didn't turn out. Alex rushed through everything and then would disappear for periods of time. He also pulled my friend and her boyfriend aside 3 separate times for solo couple shots. We received more shots of my friend/her boyfriend than me/my daughter, me/my mom, and my husband/daughter/me combined. And Alex asked my friend to call him when she got engaged. I would not trust Alex with your wedding. It's so disappointing to look back at memories and have better photos taken with an iPhone than the ones you paid for. We've hired Alex many times and loved the photos, I don't know why he did such a horrible job. It's equally disappointing to hear repeated excuses. We tried to get him to fix the photos or reimburse us because we wasted so much money on prints and he would not accommodate. He kept saying he complied with the contract, even though he knew how upset we were. I've paid Alex thousands and thousands of dollars for photos over the last 7 years. I know he's capable of taking good photos, but I wouldn't risk hiring him based on our experience. read more

We did our newborn / family photos with Alex and are happy with the results. The photoshoot takes place at Alex's studio, and Alex provided some props while we brought the rest, including multiple outfits. Overall it was great value for the price as Alex gave us all 300+ photos he took. We were able to squeeze in multiple poses for our family as well as get standalone newborn shots in wraps with nice backgrounds. It took 2 hours overall and Alex was patient and friendly with us. We've hired Alex and his team for family photos two years in a row now: the first one outdoors and the second time, indoor at the studio. Both turned out incredibly well. Communication was quick and convenient, and prices were clearly listed on his website. He was extremely responsive, gave great recommendations (i.e. what hours of the day were best for outdoor photo, suggested locations), and was very accommodating. It was tough to juggle our schedules, but Alex made it work, and within a short notice too! During the photo shoot, Alex and his team were friendly and welcoming. My parents, despite not speaking English fluently, quickly warmed up to them. On the outdoor shoot, the photographer arrived early and already researched multiple spots before we even arrived. He had already taken some test photos to figure out how to optimize the natural lights. We had our dogs with us and he was able to get really great photos of them, despite their best efforts to run in opposite directions. We had a lot of fun on both photo shoots, and I loved that Alex and his team were able to get candid photos and portraits that didn't look rigidly staged. I'm very picky and very specific with photos, since I'm very detailed and know what I like and don't like. And all I can say is that Alex is phenomenal. He is the best you can get in the USA! E X P E R I E N C E We first found Alex through a friend's Cruise Wedding. I loved him so much that I booked him as my photographer/videographer before I even chose a venue. Honestly before he even took photos for me, I was raving about him to all my friends and family. Even now, after the fact, I still stand by my decision. You need to book him! We booked him 4 day, 3 nights at the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort. During the stay, we wanted him to enjoy his time and so we welcomed him to join our party but gave him his space to explore. We discovered Alex Studio at the Seattle Wedding Show at the beginning of 2020. We booked his photography and videography services for our wedding, including an engagement photo session and a photo booth at our reception. Alex is the most responsive vendor we've ever worked with - whether you prefer email or text, you will hear back within mere minutes. This was so appreciated as we navigated rescheduling a wedding during the pandemic. He and his team were dedicated to capturing many special moments, from Alex himself photographing us at multiple locations for our engagement shoot to capturing multiple events during our wedding day (Chinese tea ceremony + American-style wedding). Because they were from the same studio, they were able to coordinate easily with each other on capturing different angles, getting both photo and video coverage, etc. One thing we loved is that he provided all the RAW footage after the event (over 4000 files), along with an edited set of 500, something we didn't often see other photographers offer. For services that he had to change due to COVID (no printed photos at the photo booth), he was able to come up with an alternate solution (sharing a digital album and printing a full set for us afterwards). He will take many photos without much organizing and or planning which lead us to a lot of unorgazied photos. Not one of my groomsmen photos showed all of us looking toward the camera and or in the same position. For the price we expected better quality which we saw on his website when making our decision. I was referred to this photo studio from a friend and decided to go with them for my wedding photos. Overall, their prices were the most inexpensive out of all the other photographers that I looked at and their photos were fairly standard. We were fortunate enough to get 2 additional photographers who were "training", so we got a lot of different angles and shots! If you do use them, you should definitely ask for Brandon Tan who's this "up-and-coming" photographer on staff and did an amazing job! He was my 2nd photographer, but I swear, he shouldn't been the lead man! All his shots were crisp, fun, and edgy! Loved his work! read more

Alex perfectly captured our traditional Hindu house warming. He not only captured our and our guests' emotions and expressions, but also the finer aspects of the actual event itself. This is an elaborate three hour long event with lots of elements and activities, and Alex did a great job patiently and perfectly capturing not only the main aspects, but also the minor and finer ones such as the food spread. Ensuring that we will have lots of fun memories of the day! He also took some great snaps of our house itself, which by the way, was supposed to be the center of attraction. He was very accommodating with the timing as well. We had to move the time a few times, and he didn't complain and planned his day around our needs. I am giving Alex studio a fair 2 star only because I enjoyed the owner's personality as he is a funny guy. Skills: mediocre to low. Alex studio has an approach of taking thousands of photos and hoping that some will turn out decent. Very standard poses, nothing artistic and unique. No photo editing: Alex studio also has an approach of making you look like a model by extending your height and making you thinner so that you look nothing like you as a final result. Some might like this but I didn't as I was 120 pounds and didn't think I needed much weight reduction. He however refuses to do the necessary editing such as if your wedding dress is missing a button (personal experience) in a bunch of photos he tells you that he only edits 50 of them. So if you don't have any photoshop skills yourself just understand you will be happy with only 50 of your photos. Photos are also very low quality such as light covering faces while dancing. This was the case with the videos too (almost the entire first dance) His portfolio looks amazing online and that is what we fell for. I do regret choosing Alex studio for my wedding photography and videography. read more

It's time to do our maternity photos and who do we call first without even entertaining local photographers? ALEX! He agreed to meet us in Portland. Little did we know, he drove to/from Seattle and had a flight out to Hawaii the day after. If that's not dedication and love, I don't know what is. As usual, Alex made the shoot easy for both of us. We goofed around like old friends while he effortlessly captured over 1000 images. Alex has this amazing personality that makes it so easy to work with. We hired Alex Studio for my daughter's one year birthday. We absolutely loved the pictures they took. For this event, we had Candy, one of the photographers who works at Alex Studio. She was awesome and we would hire again in a heartbeat. Over the 2 hour birthday party, Candy took 1075 photos and I was just amazed at her creativity and skill. One great thing I love about this was that she sent me all the picture she took. Not all photographers do this, many will just send the best ones they like. For example, my wedding photographer and his assistant covered our wedding and in the end they only gave us like 200 photos. It cost $495 to cover the two hour event. I received quotes from various photographers and Alex Studio was priced in the middle. The highest quote I received was $700, lowest being $150. Most were around the $300-$500 range. Every girl wants to look beautiful in their wedding photos and Alex did an amazing job. His use of angles and lighting gave me beautiful photos that made me look leaner, longer, and beautiful. If you want glam shots, Alex is great! We got photos done at UW in The Suzallo Library and they were stunning-very editorial. I got married in December of 2017 when I was stressed out at my Amazon job and had suddenly put on 10 pounds. I asked Alex to tell me which angles to avoid because I didn't want my photos to look obviously pudgy. With his use of angles, I ended up with a subset of shots that looked crazy good. I still did get candid shots from him too, and loved those too(because I also want some nonglamorous, accurate shots for my own personal memory too).
