About a month ago, I went into Bayside, coin and jewelry to sell a gold necklace and some silver…read morecoins. He said that silver wasn't selling now due to some thing with the refinery, so I set them down on the counter while he assessed the gold necklace he offered me amount that I trusted him with giving me a true value. I found out later that it was way under them. Anyway I didn't do my due diligence so anyway it's my fault too but I'm not the one who stole when he paid me he laid out the money and I wanted him to recount it and when he did the $20 bill fell out in the middle I believe he was trying to pass $20 is $100 bill when I was leaving I noticed the coins were at on the counter and I assumed I put them in my bag when I got home they were not there there's only one other place it could be in that was their store I called them and they had a big resistance to my claim they finally agreed to show me the video when I came in it was blurry and black-and-white and her finger was extracting some of the view and also her fingers was on the air where I could probably see what happened I mentioned that and she just went on ignoring me I left very unsatisfied so I called and asked if I can bring someone with me to look at the video together as I've seen that video before and it was very sharp and in color and I knew I saw something on was on the area where I could probably see whether the quee I called back and said I wanted to bring someone with me to watch the video I believe they took a vantage of me because I'm a senior and they probably didn't think I would be aware of what was happening they didn't want me to bring any buddy else they were very rude and they have absolutely no customer service ability I looked on the stock market yesterday and the value of the silver coins were $87 each so they were value as close to $1000 and there's really nothing I could do about it. I talked to a few people about this and they said well they've changed management. But this is a family business my best guess is that they switch managers managements between the family, which makes it looks like it was under new management and you can trust them I think when it gets too hot, they put managements name in another relatives, leaving the impression that it would be a better.

I really wasn't looking forward to the task. At first, I took some collections of medallions my mother had collected over decades. I was given a direct, informative description of every item. It was delivered in a polite, but concise manner, pleasingly direct. They told me what it was worth and what they would pay. I accepted their offer, which I thought was very fair. I was impressed. Over the next 4 months, I took more and more items to them.... more, jewelry, silver dollars, etc. In the end, I think we did somewhere around $10k worth of business together. I was very impressed, pleased with them. Quality organization!.

The mold was promised to be ready three weeks later. That date came and went with no communication from Jewelry Affair. My fiancée called a week later and the owner explained they were running behind because of snow, which was a lame response (I own a business two blocks away and still managed to take care of our customers during the snow days). He also said his wife had been sick, which would have been easier to be understanding of if someone had at least called us. He said he would have the mold done soon and get back to us. Another week passed with no contact from Jewelry Affair. Three more days passed and the owner's wife left a voice message explaining again that they were delayed owing to snow and her not feeling well. She said the mold would be done in another week. That week passed with no word from Jewelry Affair. I called at this point and spoke to Beth, the owners wife. I said my "patience is exhausted." She said she would look into it and get back to me, again leaning in on the excuses of snow and health delays, this time adding that it's just the two of them (as though their staffing problems should be my problem.) Four days passed with no contact from Jewelry Affair. That Friday my fiancée and I walked into the store and expressed our frustration. Beth explained that she wasn't able to call me back because my name is not in the invoice. She did not explain what kept her from calling my fiancée instead. We were offered no apologies or accommodations. The owner, Rodney, appeared at the top of the stairs to further argue our position and explain away their horrible customer service but could not be bothered to come down and speak with us. I was very angry at this point, and though I did not use profanity and merely suggested they try communicating with their customers, he said I was "being nasty about this." I demanded they return the engagement ring (a $20,000 piece of jewelry). He said he needed it to finish the wedding band, which he had already poured, skipping the agreed step of allowing my fiancée to first look at the wax mold. Rodney said the ring would be done by noon the next day. We came back the next day and the ring was ready. Beth was quite pleasant. The ring was beautiful. It was a better ending to a frustrating experience that should have been joyful given the circumstances. It's too bad, really. The guy is a decent jeweler but, in my opinion, a crummy business man with an attitude problem. We won't be back.

I couldn't remove my lip piecing on my own & needed retainers for my chest so i needed some help. Last time I went before an MRI 2 or so years ago, they didn't charge me an instillation fee or for the plastic jewelry. This go around it was $10 for a plastic lip retainer, $20 for glass chest retainers and a $15 instillation fee. $45 for retainers???? (I understand the instillation fee & wasn't expecting anything free again but $45?!?) Oh and get this the lip one was sealed with an "O" ring and it popped off an hour later and I had to overnight ship a lip retainer and I got 30 for $7.... I went in today since they said they could put back in the piercings without another instillation fee and I mentioned I wanted to try a lip ring instead. I was given my options and was told we could change the color. The piercer brought me back, put in the ring and when I asked about the color they said I'd have to buy another one since they're supposed to do that beforehand. That was not explained to me and I would have to pay for the one she put in even though I wanted to try it out. This cost me $22 for a lip ring I don't even like and is a color I hate. No offer to discount it or a real apology. All in all save your money and go somewhere else if you need a retainer. I spent $70 total and all i have to show for it is 2 glass bars and a lip ring I hate. This is no hate to the piercer themselves I am just frustrated with the price, the fact the retainer I paid for didn't stay and the lack of proactive communication.

I wasn't expecting them to put it in for me. It's an earring I can easily replace myself. They brought us in to where the piercing chair is. And introduced us to Rachael. I said to her "The price of the jewelry includes the install? Which she replied Yes. When I went to pay for my earring. She charged me $50 for the earring when she had originally told me it was $35. Then there was a $15 charge for the install. When I asked about the charge and told her Rachael said it was included. She said no it isn't. She offered to refund it, when all the sudden the artist Rachael came out and was quite aggressive & unprofessional! She wouldn't even listen to what we had to say. We were questioning the $15 install charge. Not attacking anyone. Full disclosure is all we were wanting. Just let us know the exact amount we are going to be charged. I don't have a problem paying someone for their services. What I do have a problem with is when they DON'T TELL YOU, and you find out when you go to pay. Was handled very immature & unprofessional.
