I called Ben for an estimate to replace our existing front steps. Ben said he would come by that evening, which he did. He was very thorough in going over what needed to be done, and he explained in detail what he felt was the best way to go about the job. His price was very reasonable and I felt comfortable with the whole process so I called him the next day and told him I would like him to do the job. Ben told me when he would start and finish. He showed up exactly as he said and started the job. He showed us different bricks to choose from, and started the job as scheduled. One thing among many that I really liked about Ben was he loved explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it. At the end of the job (ahead of schedule) I did not have my rod iron railings ready for him. No problem for Ben, as he just told me to let him know when they were in and he would come back and install them I called Ben when I had them and he came that night to install (not a quick process as he had to drill through the granite that he had installed). Ben is awesome! We had old brick stairs on our house from the 1950s and they were wobbly and needed to be ripped out. There were seven stairs, 9 feet wide each, so it was a pretty big project. He came to our house to give us a quote within (I kid you not) an hour and a half of me initially calling him. He got the job started the next day and finished the entire demolition and reconstruction within 4 days. He did stone facing that matches our stone foundation really well, and recommended granite stairs, which are *stunning*, and for which he charged the same as if he had done bluestone or another material. He was super professional, on time (and early many days), and repaired a bunch of extra cracks on the foundation. At the end, he pressure washed the area around the stairs at no extra charge to make the new stone really pop. It looks like our house got a facelift. read more

Ben and his son just completed masonry work on our house this week. They worked on pointing the chimney (inside and outside), adding a cap to it, pointing the foundations around the house and filling holes in the basement. We had a great experience working with Ben the Mason. He recently fixed our floor in an old victorian we're restoring. We're having issues with water in the foundation, and one part was all rotted floor. He quickly showed where most of the main issues with water are: and we have him lined up to fix in the spring. Meanwhile, he redid the basement: ripped up 300 sqft of ancient rotting wood, prepped and pour a new floor within a week. Did a few extras free of charge, including a base of our stairs that we didn't ask, but it bothered him! All the work is really high quality: he explained everything he needed to do to make it work correctly. Expect to have him back for other work: first in the spring to fix the outdoor foundation. 3/09/22 - Ben (and his son) did an excellent job of doing some significant repairs to my fieldstone foundation. He repainted it, and put in interior waterproofing. He also put in new basement windows. He was prompt, knowledgeable, and excellent to work with. He is also absolutely trustworthy. He quoted me a price for the windows; and after purchasing materials told me that he had gotten a good deal, and charged me significantly less for the work. He could have easily pocketed an extra $400 and I would've had no idea. He walked me through each step of the work as he went, and made sure I was comfortable with what he was doing. Ben did a great job repairing our garage's crumbling bricks and mortar, and his price was very competitive. He responded quickly after we called him and came early the next day to give us an estimate. He was courteous, honest, thorough, and clearly knew his stuff. I contacted Ben to discuss a concern I had relating to a cracked step in my pre-cast stair set. He answered my call immediately and offered to come by and discuss the project. Our old brick front steps were crumbling after serving our house since 1958. We called Ben after reading all the positive reviews from others. He came right out and examined the problem. There was no way to fix the old steps and we discussed new ones and what to use, etc. He gave us a quote which seemed reasonable so we gave him the "go ahead." He was back that very afternoon to begin demolishing the old steps. He came every day after that and finished the job in a week. The new steps are brick with granite slabs on top. they look great. Have had Ben come do 4 fairly big jobs and have never been disappointed. My wife originally contacted him for a complete rebuild of our front door steps.
