Can't recommend these guys enough. Kevin and John did excellent work on our stone foundation. It definitely wasn't an easy job (it required crawling into small spaces). Also had them recommend and complete work on my crumbling chimney base in the basement. Thanks again guys. Pros: fast quote, great communication, flexible on timing, respectful of property, experienced pros, great work Cons: none

Bulging surfaces with cracks along the surface

Renaissance Masonry did an outstanding job repointing my entire basement which had crumbling mortar and damaged bricks all around. The house is 150+ years old and for a house of this age, using the right mortar mix is crucial as you don't want to cause any fractures to your fieldstones. I spoke to many Masons and decided to go with Kevin as I found him to have good knowledge of older homes and using the right lime content in the mortar. He was also very personable and respectful of the work area and the home. Kevin and his crew spent close to 2 weeks working in the basement and he even went a step further of inspecting and repointing some exterior portions of the home which would have easily slipped past the untrained eye. In the end, the basement looks beautiful (see before and after) and I'm very thankful for Kevin and his crew.

Targeted fieldstone foundation repointing: before (note the moss between stones...)

Very friendly, professional, looks like great workmanship on my stone foundation, and a well-run business.

I interviewed a few masonry companies for repairing spalling brick in my basement. Some wanted to…read moreparge the walls, which was not what I wanted. Some quoted me fairly high prices for the repair, but Martin Forde offered me the best, and most reasonable cost for the job. During our interview Martin struck me as a competent, and fair mason and he is responsive by email, which are valuable traits in a contractor. We scheduled the job, and he and his team showed up right on time. The first thing I learned is that Forde masonry may not have a full time staff. Martin definitely came out to my job periodically to deliver materials, but the masons who did the work were actually two latinos who seemed to be day laborers. They were competent, and very polite as I asked questions in my broken Spanish, but that makes accountability a little more difficult. That became a problem when I was in the basement with another contractor, and I saw one of the mason repairing a hole that was two withes thick. He was just repairing the outward face that I could see, but leaving a whole in the second layer. I asked him about it, so he dropped some mortar into the hole, a few bricks, and kept on with his repair. Yes, it visually looks fine and I would not have noticed if I were not watching as the hole was getting closed up, but that is not what I expect when I hire a professional mason to repair my walls. My job is done though, and I hopefully will not need masonry help for a while. Most of the issues I had are easily fixed with a little more attention to detail, and oversight, so I would encourage others to give Martin a chance if you need masonry help.

I went with Drywall Solutions based on all the positive reviews here. My experience has been…read morenothing but negative. Frank was a no show to give me an estimate, no communication that he was running late or unable to make it. He accommodated coming early one morning to give an estimate that seemed fair. Fast forward to when they were scheduled to do the work, 30 minutes past start time no sign of Frank's team and no communication. Contact the office find out that they won't make it today. My experience has been poor communication and unreliableness. Won't be giving them a chance to reschedule and waste anymore of my time. It was a small job so maybe not worth the effort to provide good customer service. Seeing the business's response adding this - I understand things happen and I am not expecting perfection by any means but a little bit of respect for my time and communication would have been nice.

Finally we were at the point where I could cover the studs and insulation and I am glad I didn't leave that in scope for my GC. I looked around a bit and found these guys. I don't have much to add that the other reviews haven't. Frank was communicative throughout the process from quote through execution and final invoicing. His crew got started right after we approved the work and they were onsite every day working to get the work done. He brought over a crew of like 4 or 5 guys who hung the drywall, mudded, sanded, primed and painted the ceiling of the 2 garage bays, enclosed stairwell and 500sqft bonus room with high ceiling, in like 5 days! If my GC would have been scoped to do this it would have been a 2 month process. Frank personally did a walk through with me after. Highly recommend.

Zine is great and took the time to answer questions and clearly knew his craft. The final result came out even better than we expected! Despite the harsh winter we just had, the patio has held up beautifully and still looks great. We're looking forward to warmer weather so we can start using it regularly. I would absolutely recommend Atlantic Masonry to anyone considering a patio or masonry project.

The same thing happened. Zine decided to return the third time and replace the problematic sections that were separating from the foundation. It is now the middle of October and I continue to have the same issue. He said he'll return and has not yet. He has suggested that I need to paint | seal the stucco. I want to do that but first need to know that it does not separate from the foundation so I don't waste my effort. Update on Oct 24. Zine came out to meet with me today. I now understand we had a miscommunication. He said he is a man of his word and I believe him. I will post photos of the new work and results. It might be in the Spring since the weather is getting too cold for stucco work.
