We own the Lamb and Lion Inn in Barnstable on Cape Cod. Our inn has high marks all around from the guests, however our personal space was another story! Our kitchen overlooks the courtyard, pool & hot tub, and it's a lot of fun, but a linoleum & Formica meca! YIKES! We decided this winter it was time to take care of the innkeepers so a new kitchen was in order. However, there is no such thing as a millionaire B&B owner, so our budget was a huge issue. Lee and his wife Meoghan came to the inn and from that moment on it was a pleasure doing business with Benchmark. They are easy to work with, have great vision and really understand what a tight budget is. Rather than getting whacked with huge construction costs we were shown how we could simply re-face the existing ugliness, change what needed changing and simply hide what could be hidden. Lee came up with fantastic space saving ideas and he even saved our 2 kitchen islands, giving them a facelift instead of replacing them. At the end of it all, Lee and his caring & careful team left us with a kitchen we LOVE, and for much less money than we had originally imagined. We have much more storage space, and he even through in glass door cabinet with a motion night light (a great calling card--every time the light goes on we think of Lee--was this done on purpose? Hmmm...) On a more personal note we truly appreciated Lee's easy going personality, great sense of humor and communication skills. When he & his team were caught at another job that ran a week late he called us right away and kept us posted as to his timing during the small delay, which ended up to be shorter that expected. On Cape Cod we have a huge problem with workers showing up late, or not at all, and not hearing from them. It's torturous! Benchmark's professionalism made working with them something we would gladly do again in the future, if another project comes along. Lee and Paul from Benchmark did a tremendous job replacing our kitchen cabinets. They were able to complete the entire installation within weeks of the first time we met Lee. We asked for a few out of the ordinary requests. He gave us some slide out droors, slide out waste baskets, a 10% off the lowest price we found discount on appliances at Best Buy, and 30% off our Cambria quarts counter tops. Without these connections this project would have gone way over budget. They always cleaned up and even got rid of old appliances we wanted to replace. In short, they made this stressful project a lot more affordable and livable. After they were completed my wife wanted the sink out another inch from the back wall. They had already caulked in the sink. Paul and Lee came back out and made the adjustment and re-caulked the sink with out any upcharge. We also had a bit of a mouse issue and he lined the back wall between the cabinets and on the ceiling with wire mesh at our request. Benchmark is the reason you should go with a smaller family owned business because they really care about their customers. Anybody thinking that they are going to save more money at the big box stores should talk to Lee at Benchmark first. He will save you time, money and customize the project the way you want it. I can't say enough about my experience with Benchmark Home Improvements! Lee and his son Ian were consummate professionals, exhibiting excellent communication and patience with us throughout the process of our stressful kitchen remodel. The timeline they gave us was "spot-on" and they were at our home every day until the job was completed perfectly and on schedule. They cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day and pleasantly accommodated my two very curious dogs through the duration of our remodel. When I second guessed my choice of flooring, Lee and his wife went above and beyond on their own time to pick out some samples and set them aside at the store for me to look at. Enlarged island i.e. cabinets and granite. Went very well. Some unexpected details needed attention and were handled immediately and appropriately. Excellent communication between supervisor and Benchmark office and homeowner that developed into very good rapport. Very satisfied with the quality of the product and the quality of the work. Lee is very personable and he really took his time explaining the services he offers and helped me decide on a plan to make my kitchen work for me. I decided to have my cabinets refaced, turn a closet into a great looking pantry and go with a custom built in microwave in my lower cabinets to make room for the chimney vent hood I wanted above my stove. Kitchen remodel 2024 4/15/2024 - 5/21/2024 From our very first meeting, during the design process and through the construction to completion, every person we came into contact with from Benchmark and various subcontractors were professional, polite, knowledgeable and friendly. Lee guided us step by step during the entire process of picking our cabinets, counters, flooring and the design of a custom cat area to accommodate a pet drinking fountain. Ian and his crew did an outstanding job installing the cabinets and the finish work. Any concerns we had were addressed timely and to our satisfaction. All subcontractors (floor, electric, plumbing, and counter tops) were excellent. Any concerns were addressed fully. The entire project was completed in less than a week. I run the 13,000+ member NH Contractors Page on Facebook. I also run a construction company. My team was hired by Benchmark Home Improvements to complete various kitchen installations for them. I have had a very hard time getting ahold of the owner for payment (Over $7,000) for our completed work from months ago. If it's a simple misunderstanding I will gladly remove this rating, but right now it seems intentional. I have not notified my group on Facebook yet, but that will likely be the next step.
