After I was referred to Physical Therapy, their department contacted me to schedule an appointment. Before scheduling, I specifically asked them to verify the cost of my initial physical therapy visit. They investigated my insurance and, two business days later, told me that my copay would be $20. I relied on that information and paid the $20 copay at my appointment. Two weeks later, however, I received a bill for an additional $181. I contacted the Billing Department by both phone and email to understand the discrepancy. During those conversations, a billing representative acknowledged that the original customer service representative had given me incorrect information about my insurance policy. Rather than taking responsibility for providing inaccurate information, however, the representative essentially faulted me for relying on the information their employee had provided. I understand that insurance benefits can be complicated and that estimates are not always guaranteed. But when a patient specifically asks a healthcare provider to verify a cost before scheduling and is given a definitive amount, it is unreasonable to expect the patient to bear the consequences of the provider's inaccurate information. I hope Peachtree Orthopedics will improve communication between its scheduling and billing departments and take greater responsibility when patients are given incorrect information.

I selected Holistic Occupational Therapy not just because they were near but because they asked for my number to have a therapist call me to answer my questions. They wanted to make sure that they could provide the services I needed and explained the services I inquired about. When I went in for the appointment the therapist did a thorough exam, asked questions, recorded my expectations, and explained the plan of care and the time and expectations. She then sent the information to my doctor for agreement and approval. BTW, my surgeon was very impressed. I never felt rushed and all my questions were answered. I have had various physical therapies before but I was most impressed by the online program that she provided. As I did my exercises at home I was able to let her know my pain level and the number of repetitions with each exercise. Therefore, in my next session, she would be able to measure my success from home and at the clinic. It made me feel more in control of my success!
