Dr. Hines has helped me more than any of them, and he stays incredibly current on the latest treatment modalities for chronic pain issues. He takes the time to educate patients about their condition, and pesents a number treatment options to assist them in living the fullest life possible. The subsequent appointments were just as great and I would recommend this office to anyone with an acute (24-48 hr) injury to try and walk in. The care is thoughtful and it's a convenient location to get in and out easily (no parking decks or confusing office parks).

My experience was subpar. They have wheelchairs in the lobby…read morebut none had foot rests. I went in for a sprained ankle. When I was up on the third floor, where their office is, there were no wheelchairs there. I went into my examining room and then a man came in to take me to x-ray. And he just said come on follow me. He walked briskly ahead of me. I had crutches, but it was a long walk and I'm an older person. I'm a senior citizen. No one offered to get me a wheelchair or help me at all halfway to the x-ray room. I passed a large administrative area with different people working on computers and I asked the group of them. If there was a chance they could get me a wheelchair. Everybody just looked at each other with a blank stare and said no all of the wheelchairs are down in the Lobby I saw them I said, but none had a foot rest. They all looked at each other with a blank stare, like oh well I said this doesn't make sense. You're an ortho care place. I would think someone could help me with a wheelchair. This is a long walk to the x-ray room. They just continued working and ignored me when I got into the x-ray room. The x-ray technician was covered in tattoos which I'm sorry I find extremely offputting at a medical facility Which should be focused on health since tattoos are inherently very unhealthy. He was course and said OK get up on the wooden box. There was a box about 7 inches elevated and I was in acute pain. He didn't offer to help at all. He walked across the room Then he snapped an x-ray without even asking me to put on or giving me time to put on the lead robe. I said wait a minute the lead robe is right here on a hook. I'd like to wear that. In an aggressive argumentative tone, he told me he only suggest those for people of childbearing age. I said I'm sorry I've never had x-rays without wearing some kind of protective lead robe so I'd like to wear this for my next x-ray his answer to me was I have four other x-rays to get in after this one. I said oh so it sounds like me wearing a robe or not is more about your schedule. Then when the PA came in to address the x-rays and explained my situation I was not offered a handicap placard for my car. As I said, I'm a senior. I have a foot that's swollen like a bowling ball and no one offered that I was also not recommended to have any physical therapy. Just a follow up appointment in three weeks. No schedule of icing was recommended nothing. I basically went there just to find out if I had a fracture or not, but they didn't give me any medical care at all. It was purely a diagnostic visit with a lot of attitude in the way I was treated. I would not recommend this place. Then I called back on the following week realizing I didn't have a handicap placard for my car. You can't actually call this place you get a call center. The person at the center said they just can't hand them out to everyone. I said no, I'm sure they can't, but if someone has their foot swollen out like a bowling ball. It seems obvious that this should be a recommendation. I didn't think of it at the time a friend had driven me there, but I'm surprised they didn't think of it and suggested I felt there was nothing in that experience at Matthew's OrthoCarolina, URGENT CARE, that was empathetic or caring at all

Every time I've gone, I've had the best experience. The doctor takes time to talk to me and explain what's going on. He allows me to decide my course of treatment, as opposed to pushing me in one direction or the other. If you need to get trigger point injections, they do them at the office. For more invasive treatments, you have to go to one of the Charlotte locations. Thankfully one of them is just off 485, about 10-15 minutes from the Concord office. I am so glad I was referred to this office. The doctors are excellent and the staff are so friendly. I highly recommend this practice to anyone that needs this type of support. Dr. Thakur is amazing. He manages my back and neck area. Dr. Messick manages my shoulder. I appreciate them tremendously. I promise you will not be disappointed. Be well!

Saw Dr. Hamm who was just fine. Yes, another 6 weeks of PT was ordered though none of that has…read morehelped the pain in my hips and lower back before, but okay, sure. 6 weeks later no improvement (and in many ways the pain was worse after PT.) So he shuffles me over to Dr. Haines. One aspect of my treatment is that no doctor wishes to view my issues for their complexity. Every doctor decides "It's the left hip!", as the only one with a replacement, and ignores the rest. Marvelous. Same thing here but cool, we try again. Haines is okay, except she seems highly disorganized. She promised to call after she viewed my xrays. She did not. Still haven't heard from her. I insisted that small bore MRIs aren't something I can use(nobody should, they're horrible), large bore or open MRIs only. She promised she would take care of that. She did not. Some scheduler called to set me up with a small bore and I refused, told her I explicitly told the doctor no small bore. The scheduler said she wasn't informed of that. So she transfers me somewhere for an Open MRI that ends up being in Rock Hill SC. Surely there is an Open MRI or large bore inside Charlotte. In fact, a search shows there are 5 or 6. So why, pray tell, am I being forced to drive to SC for an MRI? Not only that but some other scheduler is leaving me messages for an MRA appointment....but the return call number rings four times and hangs up. So how many schedulers did Dr Haines set me up with? What is going on here? None of the schedulers even know who ordered the MRI or the difference between large and small bore MRIs. Yes, I could use The Magical Portal I guess, though even my husband is sick of having to invent new passwords every time he tries to use it since the old ones disappear. At this point, I'd have 7-10 portals to juggle which I refuse to do. If someone wants to pay me to input patient information into some off-sight database where it can be hacked or shared with multitudes, they can do that. I get the feeling that Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute Sports Medicine really doesn't want me as a patient. I was hoping for an alternative to The Bone Yard of OrthCarolina but sadly this is not it. Wish we had access to a teaching hospitals and practices like Duke and Bowman-Grey, in Charlotte, rather than these hedge fund managed clinics.

She told me she would check me in at my scheduled time and to take a seat in the waiting area (suggesting the family waiting area). I decided I would wait in the patient waiting area as I was not confident she would remember I was there. Another patient came in and she rudely told her to come back in 5 minutes because she was on her lunch break and would not be checking anyone in until 1 PM. Without a beat she turned back to her phone and continued watching her phone. She was so rude. What a poor representation of this office! I say that because as soon as you get called back your experience changes. Everyone from the CNA who takes your vitals and blood sugar to the nurses and MD in the procedure through post procedure are all AMAZING. Everyone of them are professional yet so personable. They tell you what to expect as you are in the procedure and do a great job with the discharge instructions. The nurse even calls to check on you the next day! Now, that is excellent care and support! Dr Thakur is excellent. I highly recommend him for both in office evaluation and for your procedure. I feel 100% safe with Dr. Thakur's expertise. I would not go anywhere else. Don't let your front office experience alter your opinion of the care you will get when it really matters.
