It had been years since that leg and hip had worked well so the muscles were weak and I was in quite a bit of pain. The hip replacement - hardware, etc. - were doing well but the muscles, not so much. I am so glad I found Benchmark in West Linn! Ryan is very knowledgeable and knew exactly what this older woman needed to get back to walking pain-free. In addition, under his direction, I've gained flexibility, strength and more endurance through his exercises. I'm simply amazed at how quickly my body has responded with his expertise and encouragement. Jenna at the front desk is charming and helpful; when I changed insurance companies and couldn't figure out the website to see if Benchmark was covered by the new insurance, she stepped right in and figured it out. Grateful for her cheerful smile every time I - or anyone else - show up for an appointment. Right now, there are a couple of students doing their hands-on training, overseen by Ryan, and theyll do great with Ryan as a mentor/trainer. Over 4 years ago I contracted a chronic, crippling disease called Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR.) I returned for the PT I needed to start functioning better after being extremely ill for many months as my PMR was starting to remiss. I had had a great therapist when it was still Advance Sport and Spine so I started appointments with her again. She had previously successfully treated several other very difficult issues over several years and taught me how to maintain the progress. However, the new owners (FYSICAL) had a policy that therapists could treat only one condition during a visit. The FYZICAL visits were also 5 min shorter, from 45 min to 40 min. Since I had many areas of pain (poly means many), it would have taken years at the rate we were going to deal with all my joint and connective tissue problems. So on the advice of my MD I started a senior fitness class at 24Hr Fitness in Gladstone. I am so happy I found a more successful program. After 3 mos of attending 2-1hr, sessions/week (*with a few missed due to holidays and travel), I realized one day that for the first time in a long time, I could actually stand up from a chair w/o using my arms. I also noticed that my balance was improving. Now I'm 1 year in and despite the extensive damage I suffered, I have improved in virtually every area that was formerly troublesome. I don't understand the policy of only allowing one treatment per visit as I had made such good progress before for equally serious issues. The FYZICAL visits were also 5 min shorter, from 45 min to 40 min. I am so happy I found a more successful program, however I do miss my previous therapist. I then had to wait to schedule this until the injection was approved by Moda. Moda approved Efflexa, a certain brand, but this place doesn't have it. So I had to do the work to call Moda, and even the pharmacy where the injection comes from called me, before I got an approval letter for it. ROC said that they don't carry what was approved. What??????!!! Even Moda was confused. I'm just going to go to another orthopedic. I can't even call to talk to someone. Whoever replies to the texts lacks customer service. It has been about two weeks since I was there!! So Moda said to try someone else. Funny, they mentioned to me that ROC advertised Euflexxa. Tell your employees then. I was so incredibly disappointed.

My physician prescribed physical therapy for a sciatica problem I had for years and had become so…read moreintolerable it was affecting my sleep and quality of life. I found out about Active Edge Physical Therapy from a friend or mine who had great results with that group and so I made an appointment with Chris Woods one of their physical therapists. I have to say this was the best experience and especially the most beneficial treatment I have had for my sciatica. I no longer have the "killer" pain running down my right leg and I have cut back significantly with the pain medication I had been taking. Chris identified my problem right away and began using deep movements, stretching, and strengthening to address the problem. Moreover, the home exercises he prescribed empowered me to improve my problem over a short amount of time and significantly improved my "body awareness." I continue to use these easy at-home exercises on a regular basis; they are life-long lessons that Chris provided specifically for my particular issue. Chris made the sessions both fun and educational too! I have to say too, that the front counter staff at AEPT are wonderful! They provided a complete report of what my insurance would cover BEFORE I started the treatment and were very pleasant to work with. Their facility is located in the beautiful Willamette Historic District in West Linn. Renee worked on my ankle to strengthen it, helped me keep my 'good' ankle strong, and then helped me increase my running pace! I was blown away that my ankle was stronger than ever. Then, to be able to increase my pace with my running to the point that I placed 3rd in my age group for a 5K, I was a happy runner. If needed, I will certainly go back to Boones Landing!
