Great place. Home town feeling. Unfortunately prices have really gone crazy the last 4 years.

Horrible customer service. Does not matter how old or how young you are, respect is common decency when working with the public. Management needs to improve. The way SOME of these workers act is terrible. It's almost like they are trying to get 1 star reviews. Some staff is amazing don't get me wrong, but majority have such attitudes. If you don't like the place you work... leave!! Simple as that. read more

They don't stand behind their merchandise. I bought 2 bales of "salt hay" which is a weed-free mulch material (the seeds of salt hay cannot germinate outside of a salt marsh). I wound up with a huge mess of weeds in my veggie and perennial plantings from this counterfeit material, which is clearly NOT salt hay. After speaking with the owner and sending him requested photos of the offending weeds, I never heard back, nor have I received a refund. read more

This might be my new happy place! I was in need of some garden essentials (mostly flowers & mulch) and was looking for a real garden center that wasn't part of a big box store. Benedict's has a large selection of shrubs, flowers, herbs and more! Everything was beautifully grown and cared for and the staff is excellent. There are open bags of mulch to help you decide what color and texture you want for a good price and they will help you load it right into your car. This will definitely be my go-to in the future. Make sure you say hi to all of the ducks, turkeys, chickens and peacocks! read more

Lovely selection. Found the ceramic pots I wanted. Get to the. Checkout and the computer system couldn't ring out any of my items....after exhausting an embarrassingly long 15 minutes ...nobody to showed up to help the cashier... Inevitably, I left, extremely disappointed. Nice, a garden place that can't check out their own garden supplies... hmm ...What kind of business are they running here? Wish I could give zero stars. Horrible customer service. Came in 20 minutes before closing for my rabbits food and apologized to cashier for coming in late and she gave no response. Told us to get the food on the right, we backed up into a space and waited for the kid to put the food in the trunk. I was turned around waiting for the kid to put it in, he just glared at us and after 5 minutes of waiting started to walk back inside. We called him out and asked where to pick it up and he told us rudely that he needs a ticket. We gave him the ticket and he SNATCHED it out of our hand and didn't say a word to us. He then walked back into the garage and threw the food bag on the concrete, put it in the trunk, and slammed the trunk then walked away without a word. I am not sure how behavior like this is allowed, I understand the frustration of coming last minute but we all have done it before. Doesn't mean anyone deserves horrible service like this. My rabbits just wanted dinner!!! I hope my bag is not damaged from his aggressiveness. Disgusting. Do better. read more

I am very disappointed at this place I bought 4, 17 week old chickens three weeks ago and since I brought them home they have been having blood in the stool, I had wait to see if it gets better but not they still have blood in stool I have called them twice to report the problem and their only answer was that I have to bring them to the veterinarian. Not other option, they claimed that they got sick here which is not the case because they had blood soon after I got them home. I will no recomend to buy chickens from this place read more

I usually come here in the spring for plants, soil, and all things garden related. This year we stopped for pumpkins and mums because Jones Farm is now charging $10 per person just to enter their pumpkin patch, which is completely ridiculous. Benedict's has a good selection of assorted pumpkins, mums, corn stalks and other related fall items. They also have a corn maze which was fun, as well as a hayride, and some miscellaneous farm animals you can check out. The corn maze is a tad overpriced but we all had fun. The staff is always helpful and very friendly. read more

Staff and products are incredible! I went to Benedict's to set a chicken coop on my backyard for the first time. One of the saleswomen was so so helpful. She took at least 30 minutes to explain everything and answer all my questions. I never felt rushed and now I know exactly what to do. They have a super helpful guide to caring for chicks the first couple of days. She helped me pick out products that would save me money. If you are starting a coop go here! I also got great veggies and they had the lawn care stuff I needed that the big box and amazon just don't carry. Benedict's has knowledgeable staff and the stuff you need. read more

They have all the basics that you need here. From farming to gardening, it's a good place to start. The garden section has much improved and I would like it if they brought back more of their cement urns and pedestals. Prices are standard. The cement item prices are pretty good. Admittedly, they seem to have a lot of knickknacky stuff that's unnecessary and collects dust. Family run, friendly folks who are not overly intrusive. They have good quality soil, plants and mulch. What more can you ask for? Feed and chickens are also available. Used to have a better selection of Bogs etc. but their product lines change year to year and I'm a bit disappointed in the boots and gloves selections of late. Quality tools and gardening chemicals that you won't find at the Home Depot. Bonus! Hours have improved though I do wish they were open a little later. Customer loyalty program will keep you coming back! That's a nice touch. read more

Rude and terrible customer service. The owner could care less if he keeps his customers or not. I've been going there for years, I've bought thousands of dollars worth of equipment and product over the year, not to mention having them service my equipment. I am a regular. This past Sat. I called ahead and asked to have (2) 25 bags of a very pricey grass seed, almost a $100.00 a bag, put aside until the next day when I could drive up to pick it up, their place is quite a long distance from my home. The product was on sale and I didn't want to miss the price. The young lady I spoke with me assured me they had the product and would hold me two bags until the next day. When I arrived, I was told no, they had none left and the less than caring lady who helped me said it's first come basis on sale products. I requested they call the owner and ask him if he'd substitute a 50 lb bag of the same product at the sale price of the (2) 25 lb bags since this had happened. He flat out refused. He said he'd subsitute (2) 25 lb bags of a less expensive product by the same company. Needless to say I refused his less than generous offer, was visually upset and about to walk out when another woman behind the counter spoke up and told me the price of the 50 lb bag of the product I wanted actually sells for a couple dollars less than the sale price of (2) 25 bags. This was after I had gone through all this. Why did neither the woman who helped me nor the owner tell me this from the start? Needless to say, they lost a very good customer... I am NEVER going back! An owner who cares so little about his customers doesn't deserve my business. read more

We found a white albino rabbit in the middle of the road in our neighborhood one day. It was really hot, it did not move, was really listless and because it looked like someone's pet, we picked it up and took it home. We started to feed it, give it water, and a little bit of TLC. It reacted great after a few days and started to be a lively and energetic bunny that we decided to call Fluffy. We put flyers in everyone's mail box, talked to neighbors, and posted found pet ads on the internet. No one claimed the little girl...we think it was a girl. After 2 weeks of no one claiming her, and no one wanting to adopt her, we started calling rescue places without any luck. Nobody wanted her. We finally took it to the Danbury Animal Welfare Society who also did not take her but recommended we take her to Benedicts. We have never been there, so did not know what it was and when it closed. We got there about 6 minutes after they closed and we pulled into a driveway where all the employees were leaving and someone was still there. He came out to talk to us and we showed him the rabbit. He thought it looked good, healthy, and was willing to take it and take care of it. I thought this was so great of them to be willing to care for a rabbit and be nice enough to help us even after they closed, that I had to write a review. If the place wasn't so far from us, I would definitely give them my business! Great place! read more

Absolutely fantastic service! Wouldn't bother going anywhere else after finding these guys. Always buy my equipment from specialist hardware stores, but after an issue with a busted trans-axle on my ride on, found these guys to be top-notch! Pick-up and delivery (I have no trailer), authorization on repairs (previous stores I've been to just do the work without pre-authorization!), quality work and customer service. My favorite garden center for many reasons! I just started taking an interest in outdoor landscaping about 5 years ago when we purchased our home (which was basically a blank canvas). Naturally, I have tons of questions for maintaining and upgrading our yard. The Benedict's staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We receive their flier in the mail which advertises sales and special events. I also purchase Wellness and California Natural dog food at a very reasonable price. Benedict's also seems to be very involved with the community...they've hosted a fall children's music & arts festival, class field trips, and build a giant hay maze each year for kids to enjoy. Children can also visit the animals (peacocks, goats, turkeys, etc.) and duck pond with a little bridge around back. I try to take advantage of any opportunity I have to support a local business and this one is above average. There have been rare occasions when I've had no errands to run on my lunch hour and I've simply spent that time browsing through their greenhouse on a beautiful day. Recently visited this facility. It was really well staffed with knowledgable people and quite helpful. I was thrilled with the quality of the plantings I purchased as well as the staff. My back is bad and they carried everything out and loaded up my car. I would say the selection is enormous and I think I will go back again and again. read more

Rude. Terrible customer service by a middle aged women with short blonde hair (owner?)I went in to return dog food. I mentioned that I'd like to return for a money refund to get infinia dog food from another dog food store (as Benedict's does not sell it). The women started rolling her eyes, making noises, and acting extremely unprofessional at the mention of a competitor. I don't care if you don't like another company, business 101; do not talk/act disparaging towards another company. Not ok. I'm sure this can be a great place but I will not spend my money at a place that condones this type of behavior. I will never go back there. read more

I've been going to Benedicts for years. They provide top quality product. A bit expensive at times, but well worth it. The staff is also extremely helpful and informative. Much better than you'll ever get at a big box store like Home Depot. read more

Love this place! The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. My kids love looking around and picking things for our garden. We got out chicks here and a member of staff walked us through everything we would need and steered us away from unnecessary things.
