There are 6 greenhouses to explore, each filled with tables of organic vibrant healthy flowers and vegetable seedlings and potted plants. The hanging baskets of flowers are gorgeous, especially the petunia mixes and the huge luscious brilliant orange and yellow trailing nasturtiums. The birds are singing, it smells great and the owner is so nice and wonderfully helpful if you have any questions. The prices are so reasonable. Even if you aren't sure if you need anything, go there and wander around. You will walk away feeling calmer and with a smile on your face. It's worth turning on your GPS and finding your way there, 201 Fresh Meadow Rd, West Haven.

Wow! Have been wanting to visit Golden Acres for a while now. I'm from west haven and didn't…read morerealize how close it was to my home! If I hadn't looked up local nurseries I never would've known they were there, it's definitely a pleasant surprise to find this adorable farm tucked away where I never would've guessed! My birthday passed recently and the only two things I told my family I wanted to do were get boba tea and go to the nursery. Golden Acres was my choice and I'm so glad it was. I was very impressed by the variety and amount of plants they had, there was tons to choose from! They have numerous greenhouses open at various times with seasonal veggies, perennials, annuals, etc. I love that they are organic and make a point to feature what they do and don't use. I am more of an ornamental gardener who only does a few edibles, but I still try to stay organic and it meant alot to me how transparent they were about their practices. The signs at each greenhouse with pricing and variety were extremely helpful and the way it was setup almost on a trail that you followed to each greenhouse (with various plants also set up outside) made it easy to look at everything without getting too turned around. All the plants looked very happy and healthy and I didn't see any visible pests while browsing. They were close to closing when we stopped by but they never rushed us or acted inconvenienced that we were still there. I ended up purchasing 2 6pk coleus starts - wizard mix and rainbow mix (with plans to return and purchase more plants once I had more time and money), and they were very reasonably priced, transplanted wonderfully and all 12 are thriving. I was extremely impressed by Golden Acres and can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!

It is such a pleasant little spot and very easy access to I-95 if you are driving though. During the time of COVID, I don't particularly like that I can't pick up a head of cauliflower or cabbage and instead have to ask the people behind the stand to do it for me. I thought the mask wearing was to prevent the spread of the virus? It's news to me that one's hands are also allegedly carriers. In that case, I'm surprised the Governor of the persons residing in each STATE, do not also mandate glove wearing. I know the farm is only following orders so it's nothing against them at all. That being said, love love love this farm. Please continue to support local businesses. The connections and the bonds you create with those in your community will be what unite us and propel us forward and away from the current fear based reality.
