This is the best Home Depot in the area. Much cleaner and more helpful staff compared with Fairfield or Bridgeport.

Don't bother going to the garden center on a Saturday at 1:00 p.m. I was looking for some help finding something in the vegetable garden area, so who better to ask than the two guys watering the plants. Both couldn't care less about helping me, which led me to realize that while there are some outstanding employees at this location, the two gentlemen working in the garden area would be better suited for a solitary job of some kind, like checking in deliveries or some other menial task that doesn't involve dealing with the public. read more

I can't give zero stars, unfortunately, but after two experiences this week, I'm done here. I should've been done a long time ago based on the inattentive and unhelpful staff, poor customer service, and some previous issues with other HD locations, but proximity is the enemy of choice. Until today, when I made a pledge to always drive the extra 15 minutes to Lowe's. Went to exchange a propane tank on Monday - a practice I stopped doing here long ago because they suck at it, but I was already in the area. I left the tank outside as usual, made the transaction, and went outside to wait for an associate. 10 minutes from the time on my receipt later, I called the store line, got someone in Home & Garden, and had to ask for someone to come out (which, to her credit, she did right away). The entire time, two employees were setting up wheelbarrows right next to me, and neither one even bothered to ask if I was being helped even after the 3rd or 4th time they came back and saw me still standing there. But, hey, they were ready in case there was a run on wheelbarrows at noon on a rainy Monday! Went today (Wednesday) to return extraneous items from a home project and buy a bag of topsoil. During my time in the store, which was maybe 15 minutes and was a straight walk from service desk to garden to checkout, I noticed no less than four employees who were wearing face masks below their nose (only covering their mouths), including the clerk who facilitated my return. COVID who? Alexa, the employee who did my return, apparently ain't got time for that. Sorry, Trumbull HD, I ain't got time for you anymore. I did have time to call the town health department and let them know of your employees' violations of state mandates, though. read more

Special ordered a front door in January. As of June, still waiting for someone to call. We asked if we could pick up, cancel, but can't even get a person to call back with answers. We are in "the system" whatever that means but out $1600. Installer first ill, then not installing, then retired. Since they had no one to install, manager said they would ship but after two conversations with manager (Billy), no one could tell us when. Finally went in to pick up June 27th only to find out the door was missing, no longer in the store. Six months of hassles before finally getting a refund. read more

I went to home depot with two of my kids because they have begged me to get the kits they give out once a month. When I get to the desk set up to sign in (behind it theres a section where kids and parents have flooded a table made for them to do the kits), I ask for the kits to take home so that we can build them with our kids. The woman flat out refuses to give them to me, stating they do not do that because then there are no kits for other kids that come in later. I am baffled and tell her that I am compromised (mind you I am wearing my mask and visibly week) and am afraid and not able to join the other parents and kids behind her. She then turns to her "superior" then turns back to me with a pissed off look and goes here and throws the kits at us. My son asks her for the apron that all the other kids are wearing and she again with a pissed off expression tells me "NO". At this point I am getting really frustrated and ask to speak to her "superior", she gets there and sharply tells me that I should take the kits and next time I should come at 12 when they close in which case she will give me kits if there are any left. I calmly remind her that I am on time and have come to get the kits for my kids and they have been given to me before with no problem. She states what the previous women stated in that I am taking kits away from other kids who may come later and may not have the chance to get a kit. I am really shaking at this point and ask her why a kid that comes later takes priority over my kids who are on time and there in front of her just because I need to take the kits home. I remind her that my kids cannot participate in the "fun" behind her because their mother is sick. She then calls me selfish and says that I shouldn't bring my kids there anymore. She takes some aprons, scratches my kids name on them and tells me to leave. I started to get emotional and dont want to make a scene in front of my kids and the others and tell her that I will report her to her manager and I leave. I am a little under two months out of the hospital from a major organ transplant that was caused by chemotherapy I was taking for cancer. I did not see my kids for months and I did not know if I would ever see them again the day that I was admitted to the hospital. Now that I am out I am trying to spend every second I can with them. I was not only afraid of all of the people piled behind the desk due to germs but I was afraid a kid or parent would run or bump into me on accident. The reason I went and not my husband is that I really needed to get out of the house and thought this would be a low key thing to just go in the store, get the kits, and get out. My husband was also with our two year old who I cannot take care of by myself for too long. I do mot deserve to be called names when I did nothing wrong! read more

Rude, rude, rude. Don't think this is how a customer should be treated. I was in The garden center looking for flowers to buy my wife for Mother's Day. She wanted bleeding hearts, but I couldn't find them, so I went to ask this guy watering flowers. First he ignored me. I asked for his help again, and he scooted by without acknowledging me standing next to him. Thinking he didn't hear me (giving him the benefit of the doubt), I again tried to get his attention by tapping on his shoulder. He turned and shouted "stop bothering me". After my immediate shock, I then asked him again if he could tell me where the bleeding heart flowers were. He finally answered my question by saying he didn't know. Wish he said that the first time. Do NOT come here for a kitchen renovation! If I had to detail the nightmare dealing with Home Depot has been , it would fill a book. I came in with a set budget and was extremely clear about what I could afford. Johnnie Eugene designed my kitchen and every step of the way assured me it was all going to be within my budget. He made breakdowns of what were supposed to be ALL the costs -- demo, electric, plumbing, install, etc. (I still have all his "estimates" in writing). I trusted he knew what he was doing and went ahead and purchased my cabinets on his recommendation, only to find out AFTER my non-refundable purchase that he grossly underestimated the costs of the labor and other materials, neglected to include things like lead abatement, permits, windows, and new walls/ceiling. The price he gave me for electric was $3,600, in reality it was going to be over $8,000! His estimate was only within my budget because he left out so many things--he was off by $13K!!! When I tried to contact him about this, he ghosted me--didn't reply to my calls and emails and blew me off when I showed up for a meeting that HE scheduled. I had to find another contractor who could work closer to my actual budget but ended up having to forego a LOT of things I had been told I could have. Not only that, but Johnnie ordered a significant amount of extra building materials, which increased the cost greatly. When I called to voice my complaints, I was given a runaround--a manager named Rich was extremely rude and told me, "consider this your wake up call" and said I shouldn't have listened to Johnnie because "he's just a cabinet salesman". WTF???? No accountability whatsoever, let alone an apology. Not one person cared that I had made my purchase based on fraudulent information and now was on the hook to spend a lot more than I could afford. I have now been trying for over two months to get a replacement for one of the cabinet doors that arrived broken. A month ago a door was delivered and was the wrong size. I have talked with both Allen and Andrew about getting this replaced and again I was assured they were taking this seriously and would make sure the correct door was sent. It's been weeks and tonight when I got through to Andrew it became clear that a new door hadn't even been ordered. I am disgusted with the total lack of accountability and the way I've been dismissed. I started this project with Home Depot in July 2022. It is now February 2023 and I am still chasing down various people for answers, and when I get them they are nothing but lip service anyway. I've never dealt with any business as unprofessional and I urge anyone reading this to take your business elsewhere. read more

Yeah, my last 2 home depot Trumbull experiences left me cold. Two days ago, I purchased a florescent light bulb to replace the under the cabinet one that burned out. Bought it, pulled it out of the package, there's something rattling around inside. Put it in the fixture. Nothing. Defective. Then I go back, get another one. Get home. Same thing. Go back again. Tried to get someone to help me find one that wasn't defective. No such luck. I stood there for 20 minutes waiting and waiting, even thought the store had very few shoppers. I got my money back from the clerk who had no idea how to solve the problem or get me help, and I left. Pissed. 4 weeks ago, I rented a carpet cleaner from the same store. The sales clerk was downright rude to me. An older gentleman who lectured me that if I didn't use their shampoo at 12$ a bottle, then he wouldn't rent the machine to me. This store was so good when it first opened. Now it's a collection of people who get paid to tell you to go f yourself. Seriously, the incompetence and indifference here is so staggering that I go out of my way to drive 20 minutes each way to Lowe's in Derby, rather than go to this Home Depot which is two miles away from my house. In the past weeks I have been unable to purchase or get information on the following common hardware store items: Wallpaper smoother (No one uses wallpaper, the staff told me) Cement molds (what's a mold, the staff asked, incredulously, before comparing their cell phones) Trowels (use a putty knife, suggested the staff) Amazingly, I went to Lowe's and they answered my questions, looked up items at other stores and loaded my car without me so much as asking. read more

Too bad I can't give zero stars, because that's what they deserve. Recently placed an online order for a tractor, a freezer, and some other large items. Delivery was scheduled for 7/28 and I paid $20 extra because I needed everything delivered by 2 pm. I was promised a phone call 30 minutes prior to the delivery. By 2 pm on 7/28 I hadn't heard anything. Not knowing which store the order was being delivered from I called the number in the emailed order confirmation. It took them 15 minutes to get somebody from the store on the line, who told them the order was on the truck and they would call the driver to see what was going on and would call me back. By 3:00 I still hadn't heard from them so I called the store directly. I was informed nobody could help me because they were too busy. I called the corporate number back and they again had to wait more than 15 minutes to get somebody from the store. This time, the corporate person I was speaking with brought the in-store person on the call. He promised to call the driver and report back right away. 30 minutes later and still no call, so once again I called the store and asked to speak with the person directly. He admitted the order had never been put on the truck for delivery and could reschedule the delivery for Monday - a date which wouldn't work for me. At this point I asked to speak with the store manager to find out why the order hadn't been on the truck when I was told that it was. He didn't really have an answer. I requested delivery be rescheduled for 7/29 and was informed it wasn't possible as they don't do deliveries on Sundays. Delivery would have to be rescheduled for the following Saturday. The store manager offered to cancel the delivery fee which, while a nice gesture, wasn't acceptable considering it had taken more than two hours and several phone calls to determine that the order wasn't going to be delivered. I asked for 10% off the order and was told that wasn't possible as they don't do that kind of thing. Not a problem, the order was cancelled. I ended up calling the Home Depot customer care line to make a complaint about this store. The woman I spoke with was horrified to learn about the experience. read more

My partner and I have been going to this Home Depot for the last seven months to get our backyard wedding ready because we're getting married on our property at the end of the summer and Joe has been so knowledgeable and friendly and has gone above and beyond every time we visit which is very regularly I wanted to take a moment and praise him and post this publicly. I visited the Trumbull Home Depot today to purchase some things for my home. After leaving the garden section I noticed an associate wheeling a deep freezer throughout the store. I asked her how much the deep freezer was and she said that she didn't know. I asked if she could scan it for me and tell me the price. She said that she did not have a price gun (all while still walking to the back because she never stopped to address me). I walked with her because I've been looking for a deep freezer for weeks and needed information on how to obtain that one. As we approached the back I saw another associate and I asked if she had a price gun? This association said no but let me see if I can get one for you. Jada said don't waste your time to the other associate and then said you better take a picture to me and I better hurry up because the deep freezer was broken and she wasn't pricing anything. I was appalled at this time she's saying that she gets off at 10 pm and cursed me out she said that I should come back if I had a problem with her. The bottom line is that I have never been accosted in a retail store the way I was in my life. I was shocked and appalled. I am so upset and disgusted. read more

It's Home Depot so they have all the stuff. Like most other reviewers have mentioned it's hard to find someone to help. But when you do there are usually 3-4 shooting the bull in an isle. Installing the self checkouts was a great idea as I can do someone else's job while she eats Cheetos gabbing with two other HD buffoons. What this store needs is some serious management oversight, or are they in their offices playing solitaire. read more

Too bad I couldnt give ZERO stars. Try calling this place. NO ONE WILL ANSWER THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!! Trying to check if my door arrived. It's been 3 weeks since i ordered a standard size bedroom door (without grain). Not really a special order item, it should be in stock. I am sure it arrived but no one has called me. Now I am on hold (21 minutes and counting) as I type this review. Don't expect to get help in the store either. When they opened this store they were up your ass in every aisle and at every turn. Now, if you need help I challenge you to even find a human who works there. If you happen to be that lucky you will get the standard: "I'm sorry, I don't work in that department" or "I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with what you're looking for, sir". LAZY and DUMB! It goes to show the hiring process that home depot follows. How can you not know where shower door rollers are when you work at the store day in and day out? Even if you dont know where they are, how about a little - Oh let me find out for you. I despise big box stores, WalMart, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, etc. Ace Hardware was a real hardware store with normal local people working there. They had much more of a selection with a knowledgeable staff. If you want lumber go to West End in Bridgeport. Only a few miles down RT25. It's amazing Home Depot can even survive selling the pathetic wood they offer. The birch and poplar plywood veneer isnt even glued correctly. Its all peeling and any of the finish trim is all warped from being stored upright. Total joke! Stay away from this pathetic big box store. I bought a washer and dryer pair. The delivery guys set them down outside in the mud and then dragged mud in and stained my new rug. The gas dryer needs a "pro" to hook it up who postponed from the original delivery date 4 days. I got a confirmation call Friday for a 10 am - 2 pm window. He never arrived. I called my local Danbury CT store and sat on hold for 24 minutes and the call just hung up. I called back and was transferred to a "manager" at a different store. She was nothing but rude and incapable of finding my order. I called back to the Danbury store and was given the number for the Trumbull CT store. After the phone rang for 7 minutes someone picked up and said "hold on" I heard him ringing people up for 4 minutes while I just sat there. Then he got back on the line and transferred me to appliances which he could have done in 20 sec if just asked in the first place. I then get connected to a "new" person in appliances who needs to take my number and get back to me. After paying 2K+ I still don't have my dryer hooked up and it looks to be that I'm being stood up AGAIN for installing the gas line. DO NOT BUY YOUR APPLIANCES FROM HOME DEPOT! I had a great experience with curbside pick up at Home Depot in Trumbull Ct. It was the first time I used this service. It was pouring rain and Oscar was waiting to meet me (even though curbside service was closed - which I didn't know it closed early) he went and got my order and couldn't be more helpful. I'm curious Home Depot, is it an inside joke when a customer needs help, and they finally get your attention, you say to them "Well this isn't my department, but I'll find the guy who works here"...and you, or "the guy" never come back? This happens almost every time I go the Trumbull store and it happened twice in 20 minutes today (5/13/20). First woman, who looked a lot like Alice Cooper because of her makeup, was obviously annoyed we asked her for help with a lid for a storage container. She couldn't be bothered getting a ladder to get one from the top shelf so I got the old "I'll find the guy who works in this dept" spiel. This woman actually looked at us when we were leaving without the item and smirked! Not a friendly smile, but a "Ha! I screwed you smirk" Second employee took 10 minutes after looking for a bolt to tell me he'd "find the guy". After waiting another 15 minutes, we see him walk by with another customer. (The mysterious other guy never appeared) You're lucky there's not a Lowe's closer. Why are your employees so clueless? read more

Since last year when I moved to the area I have spent over 10k at this store. When attempting to buy items needing install or delivery it was a disaster from the start. Unless its something you pick up and buy and walk out with .. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND ENERGY! The associates for the most part here can careless and you have to ask several people to get the right information. Then when a manager gets involved it's sorry but they do NOTHING TO HELP! I took my business to Lowes near me and spent 15k on windows / 6k on doors / 2k on a tractor and had it done right the first time with out sorrys etc... I used to be a Home Depot customer.. sad when I tried to do business and they couldn't follow through. read more

This place has hits and misses. You need to ask the advisor you are working with just what their background is. Some are just salespersons who just know how to write up a sale ticket; others know the product(s). We had ordered a washer and dryer for delivery, install, and haul away for out CT home. The dryer came with a hard tube connector for the dryer rather than a flexible metal hose. My wife offered to drive to the Home Depot to get the hose but we were told the appliances could only be installed with what was on truck. So, delivery refused and no appliances for us. Bummer. More recently we purchased three comfort height toilets but our plumber found after initial installation that one had a cracked bowl and leaked. This time everyone was perfect in service. Wife brought item back, service got it out of car, receipt was there on their computer, credit issued, replacement bought (a slightly more expensive model as one we had purchased was no longer in stock as we had purchased the three they had), the purchase was taken out and checked and then it was placed in our car. Plumber installed and no problems. read more

Since moving to the area I've been to this Home Depot maybe over 20 times, being a new home owner I feel like this place has become my second home! Thankfully my husband and I met Keneisha . She has been exceptional at helping us from everything to ordering, returning and everyday just helping us navigate the store, I honestly haven't come across better customer service anywhere since moving to the area from out of town. She's immensely helped us make daunting tasks (especially with our 1 year old in tow) easy and even enjoyable with her great attitude and knowledge. It's why we chose this location over a lowes or even the Home Depot that's closer to us! Thank you ! read more

First set of employees were not sure of location or if they had any, second employee said she was off duty, and third could not provide an answer, "uh i think so, not sure". I am disgusted with this store after this latest problem. A month ago, I had a carpet installed by them and when I purchased it, they said it would be installed within 7 business days. Well I finally get a call back from them after 6 business days and they say the installation would be the following week, even though it needed to be done within the 7 days because we were moving and the room would be filled with furniture if it was over 7 days. Well I didn't learn my lesson and I ordered lumber to be delivered to my house. I told them I had a project starting on Saturday and they told me it could be delivered on Friday. So I call Friday to find out when it would be delivered and lo and behold they tell me there is no delivery date picked for the delivery!!! What a shock!!!! Now I have to put off my project because of their inept staff. I will never spend another penny at this store or any other Home Depot. Lowe's has my business from now on! read more
