I had my eyebrows tinted at the Benefit Brow Bar and specifically asked for a very subtle, natural result. I even told the technician the exact shade I use in Benefit's brow products because I wanted the tint to match that color. Instead, my brows were tinted significantly darker without anyone telling me that the tint they were using would not match the shade I had specifically requested. Had I been told the tint would come out much darker than the shade I asked for, I would have declined the service or chosen a lighter option. As someone with naturally very light eyebrow hairs, this dramatic change was the exact opposite of what I requested. When I contacted the Brow Bar afterward to ask if there was anything they could do to correct or lighten the tint, I was simply told there was "nothing they could do." It was incredibly disappointing to leave with a result I never wanted and then be offered no solution or support. My issue isn't that I disliked brow tinting--it's that I clearly communicated the look and shade I wanted, and instead received something completely different without any warning. I would encourage anyone with light brows to have a very detailed conversation and insist on the color they know is right before agreeing to a tint and to make sure the technician knows what they are doing and explains exactly what shade will be used and what the final result is expected to look like. read more

Ask for Jamie. She knows makeup and helped to make visiting the Benefit counter one of those experiences that left me humming "I feel pretty, oh so pretty..." for the rest of day. I have been a long time fan and user of Benefit products. MAC is still my favorite for eye shadow but Benefit is a good option for natural looking skin correcting and highlighting options. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and had fun playing with some of their products, including one of their newest highlighters called "Girl Meets Pearl". For those familiar with Benefit cosmetics, it is like a combination of the High Beam and Moon Beam but in a cool "click up" container and an easier to blend consistency. Jamie showed me how to put it on and also helped me to try and pick out a few other items that I needed - powder foundation (Hello, Flawless), a dark brown eyeliner, brow gel and fake lashes (I need them for stage for a musical I'm in later this month). I was already happy with all my purchases but she also threw in some freebie samples of their mascara, creme shadow and Posie tint which I am looking forward to trying out. read more

Their newest brow esthetician is Tiffany(new manager) who use to work at the Concord location that replaced Kristen's position. I have to say i'm a benefit gal =D Another cool thing is that they are doing false lashing at this location now !! They're doing half indivisuals as well a full stripes for only $16 !! which includes service and false lashes. For their full indivisual lashes is $26,but well worth it. If you're looking for full and thicker natural false lashes i'd say go with the indivisuals,but if you're looking for those alluring dramatic eyes i'd say go with the full stripe, great for clubbing ! and that's speaking from experince of both false lashes. With care these lashes can stay from 2 - 7 days or so. My indivisuals stayed for about 4 days while the full striped one lasted only 2 days. Check them out ladies !! Need a makeup artist ? Dont' know how to do makeup ? that's okay ! If you have a special events to attend such as prom, wedding, or any special occasion or even just for fun, they will do a full makeover with a minimum of 3 item purchases which is not bad at all especially they products last FOREVER !! Called the local Sephora store and they recommended a girl named Brenna at the Benefit Brow Bar. I called and they said to come on down. Arrived 15 minutes later and they were able to take me right away. Brenna was busy but another aesthetician, Jessica, helped me. Jessica trimmed, waxed and plucked, applied an oil and cleanser , filled in my brows with some color and I was done in about 20 minutes. She did a good job considering that Asian brows tend to grow downward so not easy to work on. Pretty good for $18. Afterwards, another person offered to touch up red areas and my eyeshadow. No sales pressure but I ended up buying "highBROW" a brow lifting pencil that highlights right under the brow. Neat. read more

I put my name down for an appointment, was told to wait right there and it would be about five minutes. Thirty minutes later, someone walked over and asked if I was waiting. They had seen about five people in that time, but mistakenly crossed off my name. Grrr.....I really needed my brows done, so I stuck it out. Brows = very good. They really take their time with you and do a good job. The girls, however, are pretty young and aren't great about customer service. They don't answer the phones to take appointments, so I've always had to walk in. While I'm getting a wax, they almost always complain about the other customers waiting or the one that just left. Spent buku bucks here tonight on Christmas shopping for myself while waiting for the brow bar. I love-love-love their products. Their prices are definitely right because I have a lot of Benefit products in my make-up kit which have lasted for years. I do not care if the wait was almost two hours long, for petes sake its Christmas, I loved picking up new products for my new goal of being a little bit more girlie this year. The brow bar, for only $20, I was able to finally shape my eyebrows. Tina was quick and fabulous of changing the shape of my brows and definitely defining them after many visits to other salons. Tina gave me great advice on waiting a month to come back so she can re-shape one of my brows. And she even brought them out further by filling them in and giving me some shimmer. Basically if you want to have great brows you want them done by Blanca. She's very talented and will take care of you and your needs. She always takes the time to do my brows the way I'd like them done as well as touching you up so that you don't look like a clown from the red swollen marks of waxing. She also sends me off with samples and tries new makeup that gets me wanting to spend more than just and eyebrow wax. I can't begin to tell you how much great service Blanca provides. I used to go to her sister in concord and while both are very talented and nice girls, Blanca just had that extra-ness to her services. Worth my $20 to get my brows done from someone I can communicate to and won't talk crap about me in a different language to her fellow coworkers which can be found in asian salons. I moved to Walnut Creek a year ago and could no longer travel 3 hours to see my regular aesthetician in Fresno. It had been 4-5 months since I'd had a professional clean up/shaping and I researched the area and yelp. I read great reviews for Charles at the Benefit Brow Bar and I also saw him in action and loved the brow shape he gave a customer so I made an appointment. I have thick brows (think Lily Collins) however they'd lost their shape. Before he started shaping, I told Charles "I love my thick brow, I only need a clean up...please don't take any of the thickness away". He plucked and shaped away and when I saw the end result I was IN SHOCK. My brows were very thin and very short...he'd taken off so much more than I wanted. My brows have NEVER been this thin. I'm not one to cause a scene; I kept my composure and calmly told him that they were much thinner that I liked. Charles apologized and used product to fill them in to make them look fuller. Needless to say...they looked a bit harsh. I've never had the need to color my brows in to this extent...maybe a little filler here and there, but now I have to spend 15-20 mins each morning filling them in to make them look thicker. I can't stress how nice and apologetic Charles was, he did not charge me for my service and said that we could work on getting my brow shape back. It's been a few days and I'm still very upset. I'm not sure where the disconnect was? Perhaps I should have shown him a picture of how I wanted my brows? Now, I begin my trek to grow my brows back. Moving forward, I will not take chances on new people...I will be making the 3 hour trip to Julia Cantu Beauty Bar in Fresno, CA. Again, Charles was polite, courteous and professional, but unfortunately this was a TERRIBLE experience for me and I will NOT be going back. read more

I've lucked out and came here during the week to miss the crowd of people. The Macy's was remodeled, and its gorgeous! Anyhow, when I usally come here during the week, I have been able to walk in to get my eyebrows waxed, without waiting. I do have to say, since I come here spontaneously, I don't have a regular person I see. So everytime I've seen someone new, each time I have been satisfied with how my brow wax came out. I like how clean the wax station is, and each esthitician always how I would like my brows done. After waxing, they fill in your brows and any redness that may have occurred during the waxing. I love that they will take the time to put concealer on so you're not walking around Broadway Plaza like, hi, I just got waxed! For those of you that hasn't tried the Benefit brow bar... go for it! Its kind of addicting, and they have other waxing services as well. Just make sure you have cash to tip! read more

I appreciate the outreach by Carrie who set me up with a chance to come back and try again. I did and I was able to get my brows done in and out. However, the staff here is just not friendly. Charles, who did my brows, made the basic convo and was fine but the girls all working near the makeup and cashier didn't greet me and weren't friendly at all. It almost makes you feel uncomfortable being there. Maybe I have a hard time because the crew that used to work here were so friendly and helpful but it still seems really off. Again, I really appreciate the effort made by Carrie but I think I will be going somewhere where I feel a bit more comfortable. I live more than 30 minutes away from this place, and the ONLY reason why I make this trek to get my brows done is because of CHARLES. It's been a couple of years now that I've been his client and he never disappoints. I can come in with the bushiest eyebrows and after he works his magic; I leave with perfect brows. He's quick, but detailed and has a great personality. I also really like the wax that is exclusive to Benefit. It doesn't sting when pulled and it almost feels creamy. I highly recommend making an appointment since they're always pretty busy, and you should definitely ask to be seen by Charles. Alina and Yessy were so friendly and helpful! I came in looking for my Instant Brow pencil which I like for the texture, and I like the ease of a pencil. They were out of stock (it was 5pm on Black Friday) but Alina asked if I've tried Brow-zing. I haven't, and she offered to demonstrate on me. I had time, and she was friendly, not pushy, so I decided to give it a shot. When she pulled it out and I saw it was a powder/brush thing, and not a pencil, I immediately told her "Oh no, I can't do the powder thing." She then showed me how to do it, and I did my second eye so I could get a feel for it. I ended up getting it. She also put on some primer and tinted moisturizer to even out my skin tone for me which I really liked. I may return for some of this. Until then, they did hook me up with some samples as a gift for applying for Macy's card on Black Friday. Score! I have heard horror stories about the Benefit bar at Stoneridge being really stuffy and the girls snotty and unapproachable, but none of them here at Walnut Creek were like that at all, I felt totally comfortable and not pressured to buy at all. I will definitely be buying my brow paraphernalia from them in the future. read more

I went into Macy's today as a model for my daughter's interview with Benefit. I didn't even know they had a "Brow Bar". What a great idea, sometimes you just need a quick fix and especially when you're shopping for makeup. Looking in those magnified mirrors you see everything! Yikes Scary! My daughter is a licensed Esthetician so knowing they hire experienced people is important. I'd never had my eyebrows waxed sitting up, that was different. but seemed to work just fine. Plus I had an audience since they were watching her expertise, but I'd definitely would check this out on my own. I didn't even know it was there in Macy's till my daughter told me about it. She's not going to be working at this location if she gets the job, but for me Walnut Creek is the most convenient so yeah....I'll probably go back. The other girls that worked there seemed very friendly and perky. Everything looked clean, and everything was disposed of after each treatment. All and all a very positive experience. I love my first experience here. I was seated promptly and helped by Kathy. After explaining that I had a scarring incident with wax, we decided tweezing was the way to go. Initially, I was nervous and worried I would come out with no eyebrows, but I decided to leave my anxiety behind and trust that Kathy knew what she was doing. In the beautiful sun filled space, pop music to the tunes of Britney Spears was blasting, I felt upbeat and ready for anything. Let me say that only during this beauty session have I ever had someone order me around to "open & close my legs" in public so she can get closer to my brows. Kathy was a total professional and after 15 minutes, I was amazed at the arches she created. She also showed me how to fill in my brows and asked if I would be interested in a free lesson on makeup. Ellen helped me remember the importance of exfoliation and showed me the wonders of the different Benefit products with the quirky name. I felt wonderful and relaxed after the whole experience. Both ladies were really sweet and interactive. I asked a lot of questions cause I am clueless about beauty 101 and constantly forget how anything works, but at no point did they make me feel like a moron.
