We had the fortune of stopping by Beneventi's Pizza for a light lunch on our way through the Gorge today. What a great find! Their $5.50 lunch special includes one large slice of pizza with a choice of two toppings from their generous list which includes specialty items like smoked oysters, jalapeños and artichoke hearts. In addition, the special includes the drink of your choice! Our plan was to grab a quick bite to eat so we could power through to dinner, but because the lunch special was so robust, we ended up delaying dinner by several hours. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is located on the highway going through the center of town, offers ample parking, and is staffed by friendly folks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend this place if you're driving through Bingen.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]First off imma start with how amazing the location is considering it's really close to the Sinclair Dino[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . The pizza was good especially the bbq chicken pizza, it was way better than the Hawaiian fo sho. My mom got the meatball sub and she hit her protein goal for today! The people were nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also the decor was family friendly and cute and my mom thought the mural was cute and I thought it gave a kids atmosphere and the ceiling was mid, coulda been better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And just to make this clear I'm only doing 4 stars because the toilet was hard to flush but everything else was good...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

While out wine tasting in White Salmon, we needed food and decided to order Beneventi's Pizza and have it delivered. They were happy to accommodate, as was the owner of the wine bar. We ordered a variety of 16" and personal 8" pizzas. My friends ordered theirs with multiple toppings - a green veggie pie, a Hawaiian plus additional sausage and pepperoni, a meat lovers pie - and I got the double pepperoni. All the pizzas arrived hot with cheese melted. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their pizza. My preference is a thinner crust, but their thicker crust was tasty. There was ample sauce, which isn't always the case, and plenty of cheese. I wouldn't say it's the best pizza, but it's darn good, so a solid 4. The customer service and delivery is a 5. I'd definitely order again.

    Caesar salad

I wanted pizza last night while staying nearby doing some hiking. First visit to Beneventi's...great location with plenty of street parking. The place is unassuming, what you might expect for a small town pizza shop. We placed a phone order for a Caesar salad and two 8 inch pies: a Hawaiian surfer and a chicken/onion. Everything came out on time and to order. To be totally honest, my chicken pizza wasn't my fav. It wasn't bad by any means, I just didn't love the flavor of the chicken used and the sauce wasn't as spicy as I prefer. My husband, however, really loved his Hawaiian. The salad was your typical Caesar, but they provided plenty of dressing on the side, which a lot of places don't do with take-out. While the pizza wasn't ideal for me personally, it was greatly appreciated by the hubby. It should also be noted that the service was friendly and fabulous...and that goes a long way. I'd definitely return to try other menu items.

We were most interested in a couple of the dishes, most notably the pettole and arancini. We walked up on a Sunday for lunch and none of the items we wanted were on the menu! The owner mentioned how she rotates all the menu items every month on the 15th, migrating between specialty dishes between regions of Italy for 11 months of the year, then bringing the customer favorites back for the last month. What a unique concept! Unfortunately most of the menu items available didn't interest us that much, so we ended up only ordering the tiramisu. Chef did offer us samples if we were interested which I appreciated. Tiramisu ($8) - The owner warned us when we ordered that she had just made the tiramisu around 30 minutes prior, so the espresso still needed time to soak into the ladyfingers. Electing to get lunch at a different spot, we ended up waiting about 2 hours before digging in. Unfortunately due to being kept cold in our cooler, the bottom layer of ladyfingers still hadn't reached the point of being soaked enough to be tender. Another hour or two outside of the cooler solved the issue. An $8 order contains a pretty large tiramisu square, hand cut and fit snugly into a takeout container. It's such a rich dessert that eating only about a third of it completely filled me up. It's creamy, it's tender, it's sweet, it's thick. It's night and day vs. store bought tiramisu, being probably two or three times the richness of mascarpone and cream, although not cloyingly so. The espresso soaks in well after a couple of hours, giving tenderness to the ladyfingers and an espresso taste that isn't bitter or acrid at all. Yum! (5/5) I don't eat tiramisu all that much, but I loved the one served at Pesco. Given that they have different menu items every month, it seems like this food cart is a great place to visit for plenty of variety. I'll have to keep an eye out the next time I'm in town!

Service was prompt, and the restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant. It's kind of funny because you'll have people in suits having a business meeting over dinner, and other regular hotel guests just dining casually in t-shirts and jeans. On both occasions, I was dining with another family member. When we were there for dinner, we were having a really hard time deciding what to order, and our server let us know that there was a 2-for deal going on for some of the pastas. Each of us had been considering a pasta, so that solved that problem! Both were delicious, and we had leftovers to take home. When we were there for breakfast, I was feeling adventurous and ordered the lox and bagel, which I've only had a very basic version of one other time. It was soooo good, and very filling. Several other options on the breakfast menu also sounded really good, but I'm glad I went with this for the experience. I'd definitely eat here again if/when I stay in the hotel again. Since there's no free breakfast offered by the hotel, they give you vouchers for the restaurant, so you can get a pretty good deal on a meal.

Definitely the standout of the table for me. Service was friendly and expedient, which I always appreciate in the morning when everyone is trying to get caffeinated and out the door. My companions ordered the protein bowl, which was a hearty mix of grains and grilled vegetables with your choice of tofu or egg. It leaned a little bland flavor-wise, but it did exactly what it needed to do: provided a filling, healthy base for a full day of activity in Hood River. Not every dish was a knockout, but overall it was a very solid breakfast spot with fair pricing at about $18 per dish.

The atmosphere is casual and inviting but the food, both quality and presentation, steals the show. We tried a gin cocktail that was as beautiful as it was inventive. We followed this with the brussel sprouts salad which was lightly roasted but still tasted and looked green in the most delightful way, with some kind of light dressing that celebrates the vegetables in the salad medley without overpowering them. We took Calvin's recommendation and ordered the special which was a three mushroom fettuccine: it was perfection. The pasta was served al dente, the mushrooms included shitake, hedgehog, and one other and all had a unique flavor that stood out with each bite. The pasta sauce was buttery but somehow almost effervescent, embracing but not suffocating, with just enough cheese to know it's there but not enough to have it overpower the dish. At this point we didn't think the meal could get any better but then we ordered the pear, huckleberry, and pluot sorbet made at Celilo and we're now committed to coming back. The sorbet featured locally sourced Bosc pears and that flavor may have been my favorite as it was unlike any other sorbet I have ever tasted. All were sweet but complex. They have a nice patio area with a few (4-5) tables that are covered. We got there super early and opted to sit outside since the weather was so nice. The service was fantastic and our waitress was super friendly. We discovered that she has ties to KC so I always love that. I started with an Adeline blackberry sour. It's pretty to look at and so delicious to drink. Sours in Oregon are hands down the best. I wish we had more of it in KC but I highly recommend that you get sours and ciders if you're in the PNW. For lunch I ordered the Club Sandwich: Sweetheart ham, hickory-smoked turkey, Tillamook white cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon; topped with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo. It normally comes on sourdough but I swapped it out for ciabatta. First off, it's a HUGE club sandwich. Lots of meat that had amazing flavor. Not some sad deli sandwich at all. The ciabatta had great chew and complemented the sandwich perfectly. No complaints here! Did I eat it all? Yes, and that was a great plan because it kept me going for the next 24 hours that ended up being a cluster that resulted in no food being available. Sandwiches come with chips or a garden salad but I opted for a different side with an up charge. Let's talk about the Oregon Blue Salad: spring mix, dried cranberries, honeycrisp apples, Rogue Creamery Oregon Blue crumbles, and maple candied walnuts; tossed in an apple cider vinaigrette. So GOOD! You can get it by itself and it would make a great meal. Everything was so fresh. Again, not a single complaint. If you are ever in the area, please stop in. Everything was amazing and I can't wait until I return. Double Mountain is on my list to come back to! Highly recommend!
