I was really looking forward to trying Solstice based on all of the five-star reviews, but my experience was just average. The best part was the enthusiasm, attentiveness, and friendliness of my waiter. He offered information about the area, points of interest, etc. Service was very prompt as well. I opted for the macaroni and cheese as well as focaccia. Both were just OK. Nothing remarkable, but serviceable. The most notable item was the freshness and quality of the olive oil served with the focaccia. I was seated outside, which was nice. 1/5. Wouldn't go back. Prices are steep to begin with, and then they tack on a mandatory 15% tip even on takeout orders. Fine if the food backs it up. It doesn't. We placed an order and were told to pick up in an hour. Got the "ready" text right on schedule, but the pizza had clearly been sitting out well before that : it arrived lukewarm instead of hot, like it had been ready long before they texted us. The entire area was super busy, even for an early Friday afternoon! So I quickly searched Yelp for alternatives and decided to give this place a try. It was still super packed, but we only had to wait about 5 minutes to get a table. While looking at reviews, I noticed that their cherry pizza was one of the most popular items. First stop when we got in was this place for food. I'm normally not a go to pizza place on vacation but my friend chose this place. We order the seasonal potato pizza and subbed out the sausage for mushrooms. The server kindly helped us make our requests vegetarian. The potato pizza was a little too charred but the sweet and spicy was just right. We preferred the red sauce on the pizza over the white sauce. We had the Sweet & Spicy pizza and absolutely loved it. The chili crisp ricotta on it was SO good and gave it the perfect kick without overpowering the flavors. We also had the Caesar salad, which was lightly dressed - exactly how I like it. Fresh and simple alongside the pizza. Only warning... be prepared for the $10 NA canned beer. Ouch. Gluten free pizza! The pizza was great and they did have a gluten free crust. Likely some cross contamination (it is a pizza place) but I didn't have any issues as a celiac. We waited 2 hours for a table at 4pm. Unfortunately the staff gave two of the tables to one party with one dog making our wait double the time we were quoted. I would NOT recommend if you are looking for a dinner place with your dog. Most of the staff makes you feel like you are an inconvenience and talk to you like you are one. 0/10 will not be coming back the food was decent but being treated like that is not okay. Strange experience recently on a Saturday. We arrived at 7 but did not get seated until 7:30 ---but was assured this was fine despite their closing at 8pm. We felt persistently rushed during our meal. More disturbingly, upon our departure, a floor staff member directed an intensely disdainful and unprovoked stare towards us, leaving us feeling utterly unwelcome and bewildered. He stared down at us with his arms crossed as we departed the restaurant. I reported this to the manager, who assured me she would investigate and follow up. However, we have received absolutely no communication or update since then. This lack of action, after a direct assurance, has compounded our disappointment and left us feeling unheard. While we greatly admire the cuisine, the cumulative effect of feeling pressured, judged, and subsequently ignored has prompted us to reconsider our long-standing patronage. Country Girl Cherry ($22) with cherries, chorizo, goat cheese, mozzarella, and marinara sauce Siragusa Pear ($21) with pears, bleu cheese, caramelized onions, and mozzarella (white pizza) Margherita ($18) with marinara, mozzarella, and basil Pepperoni ($18) with marinara, mozzarella, Ezzo pepperoni I was skeptical of the two unusual pies but they came highly recommended, and they turned out very tasty. Tourists, don't go here. Absolutely terrible service. We came here 2 weeks ago and our service was so slow and the staff were ignoring us and we had to hunt them down for water and our food. Decided to give them another shot today and they forgot our pizza. We ordered 2 and one of them ended up coming 30 minutes after and only after the server had very clearly forgotten and had to ask what we ordered again. The weather was perfect, so we sat outside and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Margherita and Cremini pizzas -- both were fantastic, but the Cremini really stole the show. I could've easily eaten the whole pie myself! We went just about an hour before closing and let me tell you, the place was still going strong and the staff as excited as ever to help. The outdoor seating was perfect and it wasn't too cold outside but enough of that, let me tell you ABOUT THIS PIZZA. This specialty pizza they had which sadly may be seasonal is the sole reason this place is getting five stars. I don't remember the last time I had a pizza that tasted so freaking good that I debated on ordering another one to go just to eat again at the hotel. Stopped here after a long day in the car and it immediately brightened my mood. There was a 40 min wait for a table at 7:30pm when we went, but they have a cool waiting area and let you order drinks to the waiting area to enjoy. I liked that the restaurant was busy but also not loud or crowded. It felt like each table was its own little world. My boyfriend got the Country Cherry Girl pizza. He usually gets a meat lovers, but was a huge fan of this. I got the mushroom pizza on gluten free crust and was blown away. So much flavor and texture. The ricotta and crunchy sea salt set it to the next level. My boyfriend was also jealous of my crust and kept asking for bites. The gluten free here is amazing. This paired with a glass of their local Pinot made the night perfect. Our server was also lovely. We knew we were seated close to closing time so said we could take our check whenever, but he was very kind and told us not to worry about it. Got seated quickly. A very busy pizza place. Many seating outside with tables and bar seating looking at the Hood River Park. They have a monthly seasonal menu pizza available. Month of July is peach pizza. I ordered a peach and sausage pizza. The pizza is a thin crust pizza. I wished the peaches were more on the pizza. It was placed sparingly around the pizza. It still was good. Lots of arugula on the pizza. They put the arugula as a topping on the pizza. Service was quick. Pizza here is wonderful. I recently dined at Solstice and unfortunately my experience was disappointing due to the service. While I understand how busy restaurants can get (I've worked in hospitality myself), the level of rudeness and passive aggression from our server was unnecessary. When my friend asked a couple of simple questions about the menu, including if she could have a flavored margarita, the server let out a heavy sigh before responding with a curt "sure." It immediately set an uncomfortable tone, making us feel like our requests were a burden. Later, when I went to ask another server where the restroom was, she literally put her hand in my face and said, "I'll be right with you." I didn't even wait, I just asked someone else instead. Basic courtesy goes a long way, and that interaction felt especially dismissive. I'm usually very understanding and patient, but this felt like more than just a stressful night for the staff. I personally went for the Cremini pizza at the recommendation of my waiter and really enjoyed it. Next time I'll have to try their popular Country Girl Cherry (cherry on pizza? Crazy in a good way). I sat on their patio outside facing the water which was lovely around sunset. I definitely recommend heading over to the Waterfront Park after for a nice little walk. A venture out to hood river and found this place on a list of places to check out. I feel that the cost is due to location so not much can be done about that. Concern about the menu not being "correct" and then bringing out a "different" one that was the same, a bit odd. Now, the reason for the one star. We were in town to take our daughters to the polar express last night so we stopped in here to have dinner beforehand. From looking at the 1 star reviews before writing my own review I'm surprised because our experience was very opposite. We were greeted immediately walking through the door. Once we were seated out in the patio our server was so great especially with our 4 year old being hot then cold every 30 seconds. She kept turning off and on the outdoor heaters for us. Once we ordered I swear our food came out in less than 10 minutes. I ordered pizza. My husband is celiac so he ordered a gluten free pizza which he's very picky about. What a gem this is by hood river! Stopped for lunch and I have to say, wood fired pizzas with Italian crust couldn't get better. I had the Spanish coffee (great on a cold morning after snow sports), the arancini appetizer with mushroom sauce was delicate, and the sweet and spicy pizza was the most amazing dough and topping combo.
