I've been coming here my whole life. It is just a convenience store and gas station now. Also now called "Elk Crossing General Store." Good supply of basic necessities, BZ apparel and accessories, and ice cream. They carry Boylan sodas which I love. Prices are high because it's the only place nearby to buy groceries or anything really. They also sell alcohol. Wish the restaurant would open back up! read more

This store has it all... ice, groceries, camping supplies, showers, overnight rooms, public bathrooms, gasoline, a small restaurant (try the elk burger) and a small general store / souvenir shop. you can get a hunting or fishing license also. it has an ATM on-site and doesnt accept credit cards. this is right in the Winslow hill area or Elk country, if you're looking for a cool day trip and trying to see some elk this is the place to go. The restaurant has a place-mat that is a map of the Pa Wilds area, and also a video that highlights the areas tourism attraction and has free maps and brochures for you to check out. read more

Small little restaurant with an "interesting" decor. One of my pet peeves is ordering a sandwich with mayo and getting it with Miracle Whip. After taking a bite and informing my waitress that this is Miracle Whip, she informed me that it is the same as mayo. What? Really? To top off this adventure, when we were leaving there was a food service truck making a delivery to the kitchen. Walking to our car I noticed a large advertising sign on back of the truck...you guessed it, a sign advertising MAYO!!! Uggh. read more

Greasy spoon/ diner type dive. If they hadn't served us dubious home fries that contained something really hard, which terrified my husband and made him think he cracked a tooth, we probably would have thought the place was quaint. But they served us food that scared my husband. Don't worry, his tooth is fine, but there was something hard in that plate of potato like substance that was not wholly dissimilar to home fries, in that it contained potatoes. Fried Potatoes. And nothing else, except for maybe the odd lump of gravel or stone. Coal perhaps? We don't know. They have wifi, which is excellent, because we didn't even have cell phone service in Benezette. The wait staff was very friendly, even though they were slammed. Some of the other patrons were, well, let's just not get into that. If you like people watching, this might be the place for you :) Just, don't eat the home fries. read more

Great place! Best breakfast atmosphere in Elk Country. Hoodys, tees, ice cream, supply's, deli counter, artwork, and souvenirs. I actually even bought a dead bolt lock for my cabin. Friendly staff, maps and brochures for everything. Right next to Benezette Beach. There were kids doing double back flips off a rope swing. Quite entertaining. Apparently the water is ten feet deep behind the store. There is a parking area just for the swimming hole. Giant mural of Elk outside is a great photo with guests. Watch out for Elk crossing the roads. Stop at the "Elk Country Visitors Center" on Winslow Hill one mile away. read more

If your in the PA wilds, and need something...anything. This store probably has it. This is a cool little store/restaurant right in the heart of Benezette. They offer everything from souvenirs to Peanuts in small white bags for sale by the pound. I also saw some cool home-made fire starter for sale on the counter. Everything you might need for your Elk exploring adventures. It's cool to see a small store like this doing well in a small town. A must stop while visiting the PA Wilds. read more

We waited for an hour and a half (4 tables ahead of us) for breakfast, which was inedible. The pancake was raw, bacon was as dry as can be, eggs were like rubber and the meat in the omelet was cold, even the toast was bad. We couldn't even eat the food, but were still charged. The cook looked liked it was his first time in a kitchen, studied each order for 5 minutes before even beginning to cook. The owner even came in and locked the door so no one else could come in, I wish she would have locked it before we got there. YUCK!!! read more

In 2009 I moved to Florida from northern Ohio. I have a younger brother who lives in Coshocton, Ohio. Since we both were attending the wedding of our nephew in Conneaut Lake, Pa., we decided to enjoy some more of beautiful Pennsylvania and it's friendly people. It was nearing dark one of the evenings we were traveling and came into the town of Benezette. My brother noticed a sign on the restaurant, store saying rooms available. We inquired and were escorted by a young lady across the street to a small elderely home. Two rooms shared a living area and bath, however we were the only guests that night. We were not looking for luxury, only comfort and this place fit the bill at an afordable cost! That evening we walked to the hotel for a great pizza and some beers. For $20 we enjoyed a yummy pizza with all the toppings! While walking back to our room we came across some elks grabbing apples from a backyard tree. They had no interest in us as those apples must have satisfied their needs. This was so much fun.......the next morning we had coffee and mountain berry pie.in the store-restaurant. Very delicious and served by a very friendly young local lady who enjoyed chatting. A great little place!!!! read more

The server was VERY rude and extremely grumpy!! Food was burnt and we didn't receive everything we ordered. When asked if we could get a drink refill we were told no that she was busy. Took very long time for the entire process. I would not recommend anyone stop here. read more

Great little, informal restaurant in the heart of Elk country. My wife and I ate there twice and enjoyed it both times. If the owner is around, talk with him about the history of the town. One of the other reviews mentioned that they do not take credit cards. They do now. read more
