Decided to give Trails End another try since its under new management and its no better than before sadly! Place is run down and drab! Ladies room so cramped that if someone is using the sink you can't get out of the stall. I ordered the seafood pasta which had very generous pieces of clams, large scallops and shrimp. At first glance it looked delicious but it was literally swimming in a buttery flavored oil, well over an full inch of this oil!!!! And very flavorless at that. I had coleslaw slaw which I think was at the point of "turning" sour. My husband had seafood cakes that were white looking and not very appealing. He had salad so piled high on a small plate that any attempt to cut it caused it to fly all over the table! Definitely needs larger salad plates. Food at first glance looks okay but after tasting not so much!!!!! Server was nice, but overall place needs to improve greatly if they want to charge in the $20 range for their dishes!!!! Great food and atmosphere. The hot roast beef sandwich was delicious. Other people in our group had fish sandwich, seafood cakes, salads and everybody said their food was great. This place is a gem in the picturesque Cook forest. read more

Stopped here after a hike and were quickly greeted and a table was set up for our group. Our server was so friendly! We started with the cheese nuggets-and they were great! I opted for the mountain berry chicken salad and it was huge and so fresh! This is a great stop and so glad we tried it! read more

A few months ago my family and I decided to take a weekend trip to Cook Forest and we stayed super close to the Trails End Restaurant. We knew immediately we would end up eating there at some point during the weekend and we had our fingers crossed the food would be good. Turns out the food was great! What a nice surprise to be staying so close to such a good little restaurant. My partner got ribs and I got some poutine. We both got French onion soup which I'd been thinking about forever prior to our trip. He scarfed down his ribs with no complaints and we both loved the poutine. I liked that it was made with tater tots and fried cheese curds because it gave it a "campy" feel, and the gravy was delicious! As silly as it may seem, I cannot stop thinking about the green beans with sliced almonds. Both my partner and I ordered them and I ate both ordered because I loved them! If I make them myself they won't be as good because we won't be surrounded by all the beautiful nature like the Trail's End Restaurant as we eat, but it'll have to do until the next time we make it back for our next visit. We were staying at the campground across the road and decided we wanted wings. They were great! They almost seemed to have a very light batter on them. We had regular which had dry spices, not spicy hot. Very nice flavor and texture. Also had the prime rib sandwich, added onion and mushrooms. Very good also, loaded with meat. Chips on the side could have been a bit more cooked but okay. This is during covid so we picked up, it was ready when it was supposed to be. Also bought a six pack. This is the place for steak salads! The steak was done perfectly and was so tender. Great service and casual atmosphere.

Found this place in a Northeastern Pennsylvania guide book after a day of canoeing in Cooks Forest. We were starving and this place was only 2 miles from the river. It was a great find. They had a bar, dinning room and an outdoor patio (with live music this particular Sunday) The menu had a good variety of homemade food including sandwiches, dinners, daily specials and homemade soups. We got the buffalo chicken nachos topped with cheese and lettuces served with a ranch salsa dipping sauce. A huge portion and so yummy. My niece got the shepards pie and I got the fried chicken dinner. Both were delicious and filling. All in all this place was a great find with genuine home cooking in the middle of a touristy area. Will definitely stop back after out next canoeing trip. read more

We've been coming to Cook Forrest for years but never tried Trail's End before. Now I can't believe we have been missing this great little spot. The prime rib is excellent- all 5 of us ordered it and agreed it was great. Only open Fri-Sun out of season so plan accordingly. We'll be back for sure. read more

First time back in about 13 years and the food was just as good as I remember! I had the Turkey club, and my guys each had the pot roast canoe. So good! Service was pretty good but not the quickest...but the server was pleasant and really doing her best to keep up on a busy holiday weekend. Solid menu and a super fun atmosphere!!! read more

Trail's End is owned and operated by Missie & Susie, who are almost always on site cooking, serving, tending bar and ready for a chat-- The menu covers everything from salads to steaks to soup and sandwiches. Their homemade chips are fabulous. They are located just outside Cook Forest note that they keep river hours, so if it's not peak river season (or hunting season or fishing season), check the schedule! You may be in for a treat: Karaoke, live entertainment (music or comedy), themed party. The bar is welcoming and the décor is country forest casual. Bikers are welcome and 4WD are plentiful. Erratic hours, but some surprisingly good entrees - the salads are better than most in NW Penna, and the steaks are good, and I love the roast beef sandwiches (and I don't even eat gravy). We took a little detour as we drove past Cook Forest to check this place out. The service was very friendly. The food selection was good (even on the winter menu). The good itself was very good with decent sized portions. I had Cajun broiled cod, Mom had the special BBQ Pork ribs (of which there were only 1 serving left at 5:30) and my uncle had pork Parmesan. I love, love, love this place! My husband and I made our first trip to the Trail's End (based on Yelp reviews) on June 24, 2017, for our Anniversary and to say we were impressed is an under statement! From the moment we walked in we noticed the warm, welcoming atmosphere. We were promptly seated and within a minute our waitress, Jess, approached us with a big smile and an authentic soul, it was like we had known her for years despite just meeting her. She told us about the specials, gave us her opinions on what to try and let me tell you, she was spot on! Prime Rib for me and a pasta bowl for the hubby and I swear this food came from heaven! I have never had such flavorful, delicious prime rib in my life and trust me, I have had a lot of them through the years. My husband was equally as delighted with his pasta bowl. There was so much food, we actually had to take some back home with us. Our second trip was on July 19, 2017, this time we brought my Mother with us and just like the first time, our visit was amazing! We were fortunate enough to have Jess as our waitress again and the food was just as delicious the second time around. I cannot stress enough how awesome this place is. If you are ever in Cooksburg or the surrounding areas, you would be cheating yourself if you did not visit at least once. read more
