This store is great. Well organized, clean, and the staff are all helpful and attentive. I've been painting each room in my place gradually over the past two years and I keep going back Catalina to buy materials for each project. I will never go back to Home Depot or Lowes for paints. Those big box stores now only have like 4 people working in the entire store and it takes forever to hunt down an employee to get paint mixed. If you go to a small business like Catalina, you will get personal attention and quick service. Paint is mixed in under 5 minutes and then I'm on my way. read more

This place has the worst customer service that someone cannot expect. Compared to the previous experience I had in the store. The employe Andre was very unwelcoming, aggressive, and disrespectful. He became very irritated when I asked to return an item without a receipt. When I continued asking questions about the store return policy he left and walked around the store. He also looked aggressive to me. I can't generalize the store but from my experience Andre is very hostile and I feel he picks what customer he wants to help due to his judgement. I was told Benjamin Moore paints are the best, so I came here. I was greeted by a very knowledgeable and friendly guy, Manny. He not only answered all my questions, but he took the time to teach me about choosing the right white paint and the differences between all the types finishes. I learned that there's a number of factors to consider when choosing white paint! Talking to Manny and gaining knowledge from his expertise helped me save time & money. I had gone to the Home Depot across the street and no one even said hello. I would've picked a white paint based on the paint chip, which would've looked dingy because of the undertone, and I would've had to repaint. I strongly suggest you come here regardless if you're a beginner like me or an expert. They have the best paint/colors and stellar customer service. These guys screwed me on price after messing me around with quantities. I called to ask if they had a certain Messmer's product in stock and I needed 5 gallons. They said yes, so I drove over there. When I get there, it turns out they've looked at the wrong product and only have one in stock. Ok, mistakes happen, fine I'll buy the one gallon they have and go somewhere else for the rest, at least I can start the job. I ask for contractor/trade pricing but they say they can't doing it without the contractor license being in my name (even though I can prove I work in the trade). This is the first time I've had this happen in 20+ years of working trades, but they guy says he'll give me a discount anyway. Tells me the product is "normally $89 retail", they sell it to the public for $79 but will do it for $70. Seems high but I'm in a hurry and they're closing so I just do it. Get home start the job the next day and need to go find my other 4 gallons..... ...and find out it sells for around $42!!! The manager here completely lied to me and it's one thing to make a mistake and waste my time by accident with quantities, but it's another thing to then rip me off too. Never going back to Catalina Paint and I'm going to send this to Messmers as it's bad for their reputation too. read more

***DO NOT USE THIS PAINT FOR CABINETS*** They sold me on the cabinet specific paint. I paid a painter with over 30 years experience to prime, sand, prime and brush paint my brand new kitchen and within a year the paint is peeling and flaking off. A Benjamin Moore Rep and his manager met my painter at my house and they all said it was clearly product failure. After not hearing back for over a week I reached out and was told they'd give me some more paint. Why would I ever use a product that fails? I paid $5000 just for labor to have my cabinets painted in my small kitchen the best way with what I thought was the best paint. Do not use this paint for cabinets. I absolutely stand behind Benjamin Moore paints. To buy the crap at Home Depot Valspar is a waste of your money. I had to use 4 gallons of Home Depot paint 21 gallon of Benjamin Moore paint. It goes on usually in one coat, sometimes I'll add a second coat. The color is perfect, the application is perfect, whether you roll or brush. I love that they keep your colors on file so you can return even if you only need a quart of touch up paint. The only reason why I didn't give them a five is because they're not open seven days a week. And for some reason I always want to go on Sunday. They have an amazing selection of colors you can bring in your own. And they will color match they have all the supplies that you need there as well to paint a room perfectly. I get it, I'm not someone who you would expect to walk into a paint store everyday, but that shouldn't make them give you crappy service, look annoyed when you ask questions and later (phone call) give you an attitude when you call on their unprofessionalism. Maybe my question of why it should take more than a week for a sponge to be available or why they would advertise a Benjamin Moore product that isn't in stock was a little too much, as I was strictly reminded that they are not a Benjamin Moore store, but Catalina Paints. Maybe whoever put the huge sign outside that says Benjamin Moore Store wasn't aware of this fact either. The guys here are always super nice and fast! I'm not a contractor or painter or anything and they are patient with me and take their time to explain things. The smart thing to do is to create an account- not only does it give you a discount but then they have your paint choices on record! They will also take phone orders so paint is ready to pick up when you arrive. The hardest part is crossing Burbank Blvd to get in their weird parking lot! read more
