It's been an absolute nightmare that still hasn't ended. My car was in an accident on March 20, 2018 and I had it towed to Benner's. Bottom line is its October 11, 2018 (almost 7 months later) and they still won't tell me when I can get my car back. I've contacted my insurance company's legal department, the NJ Attorney General's office and the the Better Business Bureau. Geico sent me here when some genius slammed his door into my car in a parking lot (and I caught him), causing a big dent. Smooth process except I was told my car would be ready on Monday, maybe Tuesday morning. Monday went by without a call. I had taken Tuesday off work. I called around 4pm, after still not having heard from them. I was told the car was being detailed and would be ready by 6pm. They'd give me a call when it was ready. No call. Wednesday morning I finally received a call saying my car was ready. My entire Tuesday wasted and half my Wednesday. The place closes at 6pm so you're forced to take off from work. People have jobs. Very inconsiderate. They did great work on the car, however. But I wouldn't go back if I could pick a place myself. read more

My sister had gotten in an accident and had no idea where to go. I previously used Benner's years ago and their work was flawless even then. So the obvious choice was to not take a gamble at a different body shop and go back where you know the work is a solid ten. Took a little over a week, including another call to my insurance about getting additional repairs made to the front end. All in all everything was covered. The car needed an entire front end. Fast forward a week and some change, and the car looks better than when we bought it. Fender, hood, grille, headlight, bumper, etc... Were all replaced and painted. I have yet to find a single flaw in the paint(I'm a stickler for things like this). Upon arrival to pick the car up, Henry walked us through the entire repair and showed/pointed out everything. Now I work on cars somewhat often so I know what I'm looking for and the entire process and final product blew me away. The staff at Benner's took it one step further and even detailed the inside of the car, which they didn't need to do at all. All in all, highly pleased with their work and even more pleased with the car. It looks better now than when I first purchased it for my sister. I highly recommend this body shop without hesitation. Even if you aren't from around here, it is worth the travel. read more

Had a simple rim and tire replacement done here. Was clearly rushed as they didn't balance the tire and rim before putting it on the car. It was clear to me that they had more work than they could handle and in my experience it seems as though they cut corners to get people in and out. read more

Geico Express directed us to Benner's after my wife was t-boned in a Trader Joe's parking lot. I have to give a thumbs up to the whole process. Geico covered the tow to Benner's and Geico adjuster Brian is on premises so the whole process getting the car appraised and ready for rehab happened quickly. We had a few days wait on a replacement door but within the week we were driving our minivan again - paint match, everything was flawless. John at the counter made sure everything was performed top notch. We are very impressed at the symphonic performance between Geico and Benner's. 5 stars. read more

Took my car in to have the front end fixed. The staff was very courteous and professional. I had the rental waiting for me and I was in and out very fast. When I went to go pick up my truck they had vacuumed it and washed it. The rims and tires were polished. I was very satisfied with the work that was done. I am very big on customer service and they have exceeded my expectations. I have gone to a nearby auto body shop Linden Auto and Benners auto body puts those people to shame. Benners offers quality auto body service and top notch customer service as well. I would recommend them to everyone! read more

For a small dent on the door by someone while my model X was in the parking lot of a shopping mall, the body shop took two months and one week to complete. I turned in the car on 5/5/2018 and got the car back on 7/12/2018. Initially they told me that they would finish by early June because they had to order parts from Tesla. They wanted to change a Falcon wing door, a tire, moldings etc., though the tire was fine as far as I could tell. I had no car to drive I did not bother insure a rental car while the car is in the body shop. I thought that by paying over 100k, I ought to have a loaner from Tesla. When I brought the car in on 5/5, they also told me that the bumper had some spots requiring touch up and they would take care of it. I was told that the whole repair would cost over $6000 for a dent, I would pay for the deductible of $1000. But, because they needed to order a new Falcon wing door and the required parts won't arrive until 5/27. I should expect to pick up the car during the first week of June. But, they did not complete until 7/12. What happened? I called the body shop everyday or every other day between early June and 7/11. Their receptionist often told me to hold on and then said someone would call me back. But I received no call from anyone during the entire period until the last week of July. One time in the middle of June, I got hold of a manager whose name was Richard. He said that Tesla was slow with all parts and not all have arrived. I called Tesla Body shop advocate group to ask them for help. Finally they told me that all parts arrived according to their database. I got hold of Richard again. He said that two moldings were not good. He had to reorder them. I asked him when he reordered. He said that about 10 days ago when they received the parts, but when I called Tesla body shop support, they said the database said that they ordered on the day Richard talked to me. Apparently, either Richard or Tesla lied. Eventually the parts arrived at the end of June. I got hold of Richard. He said it that they finished paint already and would take them a few hours to assemble the molding. But from that point on, it took over a week for them to finish. Tesla body shop support tried to help me and finally I was able to get a loaner car from Springfield service center for the last two weeks. I finally got a call from them saying that they cleaned the car and I could go to pick it up. I returned the loaner and went to the body shop. The door was changed and but the spots that require touch up were still there. The car was not cleaned. The blue tapes inside the car were still there. The battery was near empty. I could not drive home (one hour away). I asked the manager Richard about the touch up spots. He said that those were not involved in accident. I said the guy examined the car told me that you would take care of it. In fact, the pink marks were still on the car. He used his hand to wipe them off and said that he did not know that. If he would like to have it repair, he could give me another quote. I said okay. His quote was $1,287.50. He said that he would not to touch up. He would take the bumper off and redo the paints. I have returned the loaner and did not want to take the chance to ask them repair the touch up spots. I would never go there again or recommend it to anyone. read more

Not very good. Repair quoted at 3-4 days took over two weeks. Then the job was not done properly. Second time at the shop (another week, total of 3) they left the car parked on the street and forgot about it. Again, repair was incorrect. Body parts fell off on the highway and they tried to blame us (improperly bolted). Finally, these improper bolts damaged the wiring to the electronic controls of the transmission. A total of two more trips to an authorized dealer service center fixed most of the problems Benner caused. However, with additional parts and labor, we were out another $2000. Be very careful with Benner and Geico. read more

I had my car towed to Benner's on a Monday. I was told no less than 4 times over the next 4 days that someone would call me with an estimate to repair the car. When I finally got the estimater on the phone (I called, as they don't return calls), the quote I recieved was double what I expected. (And what I eventually paid at another company to have fixed.) The place sounded, acted, and was priced very corporate. It sounded like the departments didn't communicate very well, or they were so busy or untrained to offer anything that resembles a positive experience. read more

I got into an accident last Dec (2013). The person that hit me was a Geico customer, so naturally I went through their insurance. From the moment I got to the shop til the moment I picked it up, I was very impressed and pleased. The staff from the Geico adjuster (Peter), to the Estimator handling my claim in the shop, (Ivan) and the receptionist (didn't get their name) was very friendly and helpful. They kept me up to speed with text messages and phone calls updating me on the status of my vehicle. And not to mention my car looked amazing once I got it back. If God forbid I have another accident, I know where I will be having my car fixed at. read more

I was directed to Benner's by Geico after getting rear ended on the Pulaski Skyway. I have never used Benner's before but the ease and convenience of being able to drop my car off for an estimate and begin repairs the same day through Geico Express is what prompted me to leave it at Benner's rather than bring it to the repair shop my family uses. I must say, I was very impressed - with both Geico and Benner's. The process was extremely seamless and I felt confident my car was in good hands. I picked up my car yesterday and it looks great! The inside was detailed and the outside was washed, in addition to the fantastic job on the repairs. If you are directed to Benner's via Geico, don't hesitate to take your car there. read more

Benners is definitely one of the best auto body shops around. The customer service is great and they take the time to explain everything and answer all your questions. They are the place to go if you need a new door on your car. They have a state of the art machine that fits your door perfectly as the manufacturer did. SERIOUSLY! The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because they did not check my car 100% before they told me it was done. AND they called me at 4p amd had to be picked up by 6p or I'd get charged for an extra day on the rental (Enterprise). Good thing I was in the area!!! Well I dropped of my rental, had enterprise give me a ride to Benners.. and found that certain things on the car had been overlooked and not fixed or fixed properly. They needed to keep the car an extra day so I had to rent again. The next day when I returned for my car the rear lights had not even been plugged back in (how was I supposed to know if I was driving it). Thank goodness someone else noticed and told me. I had to figure out how to do it myself because they wouldn't be open for the next 3 days (holiday). They do not check the cars 100% before giving them back and this problem needs to be rectified. I know nothing about cars but at least now I can plug a rear light in! read more

My bumper got dinged and although I'd already gone to 3 other places for an estimate - none of them were in my town of Cranford - and I like to give my business to other local businesses. So I left work an hour early so I could arrive well before they close for the day at 6pm - arrived a few minutes before 5:30. As I walked in I noticed that there did not appear to be anyone working in the shop and there weren't any customers inside - I figured great, I'll be in and out in a few minutes. The receptionist was nice but took a look at the time and told me she doubted "he" would see me and told me I could come back the next day. I thought about it for a minute and told the receptionist that I've been to 3 places already for an estimate - and that they all took me as a walk-in and had an estimate for me within a few minutes - that I left work an hour early to get there - and that this should only take a few minutes - so if someone doesn't take a look then I'll take my business elsewhere. Since it was a half hour before closing time I asked her if she would please ask "him" if he could take a quick look at it - she said sure and took a few steps back to where there are some desks. Came back a few seconds later and told me he said no, I could make an appointment. There are many things that could have been done that would have resulted in me being perfectly happy. Since it was still a half hour before closing - and there were no other customers - you could have just spent a few minutes to take a look and give me an estimate. Or, you could have told me it was getting late, took a quick look at it, jotted down my make and model and told me you'd call me tomorrow with an estimate. Or, you could have have told me it was getting late, had your receptionist take a few photos with her phone (or had me email a few photos) and had her take down my info so that you could call me tomorrow with an estimate. I guess my $1,400 fix isn't enough for them to care about. I guess they have so much business already that they don't need local people to patronize their business. I like to support local businesses because I saw how hard my father worked running his - guess I'll go back to one of the 3 other places that seemed happy to see me - I certainly won't be back here. read more

Amateur Hour: They supposedly replaced a rear wheel bearing. The new one apparently was defective, Benners tells me. I have very serious doubts they even changed it. What is most upsetting is that after 6 weeks and over $8000 in repairs, they never bothered to do a road test. Or If they did the tech must be deaf because the car sounded like a truck with a bad wheel bearing. Zero quality control. read more

I was hesitant to bring my car here because of some of the reviews on here. I just bought a brand new white Jeep Grand Cherokee and somebody side swiped me and sped away. I was not happy. I brought my Jeep here because of the Geico Express service. I was really worried about my Jeep getting body work done because I wasn't sure how it would look afterwards and because it was a brand new car and they needed to paint it. They fixed it in a weeks time and it came back looking BRAND NEW! I couldn't believe it. They really do good work here and Ivan my contact person was great. I wouldn't hesitate one bit in bringing my car back here because they did such a good job. I'm a very happy customer. read more

Worst experience of my life. My car was in their shop from 7/30-8/23 I received a total of one voicemail from them informing me my vehicle would be done by 8/17. The girl at the front desk spends her time on her cell phone and lets the company phone ring off the hook until she sees " Joe" the owner pulling up. I called 6 times on my way to the shop to make sure someone would be there and the phone rang and rang....when I walked in she was on her cell phone. I visited the shop 8/18 they told me they just had to put the car together and it would be ready by 8/20. Three days later they tell me they are waiting on my windshield ( I was never aware the windshield wasn't even in yet) I was told by various employees there they would call me with updates....never got any calls from anyone. The only way you can communicate is to walk into the shop. My car took 5 extra days to fix and I had to pay for my rental out of pocket they did not care. I went to pick up my vehicle it was missing a cap in the front and my hood has to be slammed down to close properly. They told me that "it will take time for the parts to adjust". Driving home a sensor on my windshield fell off and 2 days later another cover from the drivers side door fell off. I even emailed the owner with all my concerns and I am still waiting on a reply. They get 5 stars for lack of communication and consideration in my eyes! read more

I wasn't sure what to expect (after reading older reviews) as I went with them via GEICO's recommendation, but I can say that I was so happy with the service. We used Benner's because they were an approved Body Shop by our insurance so I felt comfortable taking my car there. I have to say that I was not satisfied. They had a quick turn around but that's because their work is clearly rushed. I had some damage done to the fender, driver side light, and bumper of my Mazda. When we received the car back I noticed that the driver' light still had damage to it. It was a holiday weekend so we waited until the next business day but in the process of waiting I noticed that on the passenger side there was now a chip in the paint of the bumper. Before the accident the car was only 3 months old and I tend to check it often for any imperfections. It was obvious that the chip must have happened when they were placing the bumper back on the car. When we took the car back for them to fix the light and the bumper we were told they weren't responsible for the bumper as that had nothing to do with the accident. The position of the chip made it very clear that it had to have happened during installation since there is no way that you can achieve that chip in that spot. I will never be returning back to that shop. It's fine that they made a mistake but the fact that they refused to acknowledge it or take responsibility for it makes me never want to return. read more

I don't even know where to start. The communication/updates for the progress of your car doesn't happen unless you call them. They'll tell you they will call you but they won't. The estimated time to finish our car was a few weeks longer then they said. That is fine but they kept making up lies that the parts that came in were all broken. They finally gave the car back and the AC did not work. Had to bring it back for another 2 days because once again they ordered the wrong part. Got the car back again and noticed bumper was coming off where it should clip in. They told us it was an after market part and that they would need to order a genuine part and do the whole bumper over again. Of course they never called when the new bumper arrived but when we called they said it was damaged and they needed to order another....Are you kidding me!!! I made the biggest mistake of my life and took my insurance companies recommendation and used Benner Auto Body. My experience was a nightmare; they told me my car would take no more the 8 days. They had my car for 42 days; it was one excuse after another. First they tell me that the headliner was on back order, and then they need a clip for the seat, then they needed a window motor then they ordered the wrong handle for the door. I had brought my car for the estimate on 12/16/13, and they had me bring it in for repair on 1/6/14. The insurance company sent them the check on 12/18/14 instead of ordering the parts before I came in, they waited until 1/8/14 to start ordering them. This auto body shop in my opinion has no consideration for the needs of the customer, they are very lacking in customer service. Awful expreience with Benner's!! I called them to ask them to please remove the half gallon of milk that I had left in my car at the time of my accident and the front desk assured me that she would have it removed. I picked up my car a month later to find that they milk was still there and it exploded and left the worst smell ever in my car that I still can not get out. In addition to that they kept calling me to pick up my car because it was ready and IT WASN'T!! Luckily my Insurance Adjuster happened to call me both days to give me an update on my car and assured me it was a mistake and that my car wasn't ready. If he hadn't informed me I would have been making unnecessary trips to the shop to pick up my car that wasn't ready!!! AND then when it was ready they never called me, luckily I called them the following business day to check on my car.... Lastly, I received my car and my windshileld wiper fluid will not work and my car makes a very loud sound every turn I make!!! Truly an awful experience!!! read more
